David Jones Ltd (DJS), one of Australia’s oldest and most recognised department stores was founded in Sydney in 1838 and is a retailer of diversified products ranging from clothes to daily home products. This report’s purpose is to provide the David Jones’ Board and Senior Management advice through the assessment of SWOT, resources, capabilities and strategies with a Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Map as the measurement of the strategies.

Kim Jongun, has mentioned before that he wants the world to look up to his strong country as a nuclear power, rather than just a mere country with multiple sanctions shouting big words. This in the past has led to various consequences from hegemonies all around the world who feel threatened by the implications of a young tyrant in charge of ICBMs. This is a clear example of the security dilemma in which the entire world, the anarchy that it is, has to control minor nations that strive for hegemony at the expense of the larger nations’ security and loss of leverage. Unfortunately, it seems that despite the clear warnings from the superior nations, the North Korean dictator has no interest in abiding by international rules and is far more fascinated with realist ideologies of projections of power.

     David Berkowitz was one of the most feared killers in New York City in the 1970's. His crimes caused the death of six people, and the injuries to seven others. His crimes became legendary because of the bizarre content in the letters that he wrote to the police and the media and his reasons for committing the attacks. The Secret State of North Korea offered a great look into what basic things North Koreans are lacking. Even within the realm of Communism. Lack of freedoms, lack of food, lack of community, lack of trust, lack of a social society, lack of programs for children, lack of equality, and a lack of information. When Kim Il-Sung created North Korea, the government was based on Marxism and Leninism, called “Juche.” Just as the Soviets, the North Koreans followed suite with massive inequality between the government officials and the common people. The documentary showed its viewers what the government is omnipresent in the everyday lives of its people, so much so that recordings of daily life are illegal, and “random” searches take place commonly.

The rhetor needs to consider that the audience lives in a different society. As Rowland’s textbook states, “Confrontation as a rhetorical strategy only works in a democratic society…,” this reminds the rhetor that North Korea does not share similar ideas. Since they follow the socialist-communist system, confrontation cannot apply to them without free press.

To start, I have to give a brief summary of the movie. Everything starts when a TV program “Skylark Tonight” is loosing its audience because there’s an other TV program better coming up. The owners of the TV show, Dave Skylark and Aaron Rapoport were thinking about a solution to gain audience and because they realize North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they think decided to make an interview with him. One of the guys start contacting though internet with a north Korean guy from the government and he accept to make the interview. After that, they get prepare to travel to Pyongyang but the CIA recruits them with a plan to assassinate Kim Jong-un. The plan was about giving to the dictator a kind of pill that will kill him.

Kim Jong-un and Dennis Rodman’s friendship is an unusual relationship that the ordinary American doesn’t understand. Kim Jong-un, Supreme Leader of North Korea and Dennis Rodman, former National Basketball Association, NBA, player, on the surface, don’t seem to have any reason to be friends. The United States has had a negative opinion of communist North Korea ever since the Korean War. Even though the Korean War technically ended in a ceasefire, troubles between North and South Korea, one of the U.S.’ allies, never stopped (Tharoor). Because of these tensions with North Korea, most U.S. citizens have grown up hearing North Korea and communism are bad. However, this didn’t seem to influence Dennis Rodman. Even after receiving backlash for his friendship with Kim Jong-un, Rodman has still tried to bridge the gap in his own unique way between the two countries. His unconventional efforts have not worked, showing that the relationship between Kim Jong-un, and Dennis Rodman, is nothing more than a friendship between two colorful people.
