David’s interview was the one that I was anticipating the most, as I expected him to give the most unique answers due to his unique situation. Unfortunately, I had to interview him over the phone, but I was still able to get a good reading on his thoughts and expressions. Cognitively David is a very smart kid, he originally started school at the school in the US Army base in Austria, before ending up in Virginia, where he was been since he was in the fifth grade. He doesn’t think that his frequent relocations harmed his cognitive development, rather, they exposed him to a broader variety of fields to study and passions to pursue. He shines at math and loves playing games that showcase his calculation skills. He’s very confident in his intellectual …show more content…
When I addressed his height in the interview he seemed to be self-conscious about it and tHe, like Hannah, only plays soccer but played t-ball as a young child. Soccer is assuredly his specialty, as he plays travel soccer with his friends, participating in tournaments several times each year. David’s social qualities were my focus for his interview as he is very friendly yet, still quite reserved with a good temperament. After his parent’s divorce and his father removed himself from their family, he has been much more quiet and pessimistic. When I asked him about his “best” qualities, he was unable to come up with one, without me prompting him about possible answers. While he eventually decided on his smile he still sounded unsure, and not confident at all. His situation shows the basis of nature vs nurture as he is a member of a very loud and outgoing family who all love speaking their mind, which used to be true of him as well, until his situation with his father arose. His pessimism showed when he said that he often thinks that people pretend to be nice, rather than them being genuine and
The teacher instructed them both to say their names, race and their occupations, and a few things that they liked and disliked. The teacher responses were so rude and nonchalant. At that point David’s teacher began to judge everything that they said.
David's instructor was intimidating, rude, and somewhat abusive, but despite these things he used her behavior as a motivator to succeed. David was not about to give up and he: "refused to stand convicted on the teacher's charge of laziness," and due to that, he studied for 4 or more hours every night because he was determined to stand out (Sedaris, 1999). David clearly had a reaction to his teacher’s approach, which created a sense of urgency and a need to excel. His choice to persevere, despite her attitude, caused him to work hard, and he was once again able to use humor to get through by adding jokes to his responses to her quizzes. This whole experience shaped him into a better person and made him

Combined Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with Older Adult Drug and Alcohol Abusers is an article written by Lyle Cooper concerning the abuse or misuse of illicit drugs, prescription medications, and alcohol in older populations. Due to lack of knowledge or resources, elderly individuals are falling victim to substance use problems and the numbers are projected to rise. Therefore, an assistance program called HeLP was created to provide evidence-based treatment to the specific cohort of 50 and up age range. Motivational interviewing is used to eliminate internal uncertainties clients may have concerning their treatment; hence, opening themselves up to behavioral changes. Clients who decide to move on to the next stage and if HeLP workers deem it necessary, cognitive-behavioral therapy is implemented to promote changes in thoughts, behaviors, and prevention of future relapse.
David began his journey by completing a B.S. in Business Administration and went on to becoming one of the youngest candidates to complete an Executive MBA program at the State University of New York at Oswego. If this wasn't enough to satiate his
He proved his masculinity by finding a wife but by having no children, I view this as David being so disturbed by his childhood memories that he is afraid of subjecting his own children to the torment that he suffered. To stay safe he does not have any children but is happily married to Betsy. One could view his becoming a teacher as an attempt to fill the gap where children would have been but stay safe of scarring any child in the way he was but I view his choice as becoming a history teacher as a reflection of what happened to him in the summer of 1948. He knows that the people of Bent Rock will never know what truly happened to Frank so their view of history is different from his. Choosing to be a history teacher reflects that he knows that history may be different from what has been recorded.

To conclude this, I think that David and I have a lot of similarities but we have broad differences. The differences in our lives aren’t very specific; there more in general. It is said that those with the worst past have the best future. Looking at David’s life, I see that. Hopefully with mine I see that
