For this assignment, I decided to go with unit nine: coercion, paramilitary terror, resistance for a few reasons. One would be this was a hard time not only for the free slaves but also the whites that didn’t want the slaves to be free with the same rights as them another reason was because this made humanity look at the world differently, it was the beginning of confronting the diversity that was happening in this era. People treating people like animals for free labor when the animals were the people that wanted other people as slaves to make their lives for them and what I mean by lives is work, cook, take care of their children, any type of work the slaves did it. Now getting to the events in this era finally the Confederate surrender the
Tollund Man is a 2400-year-old naturally mummified body that was discovered in 1950 in a danish bog. Tollund Man was most likely a low- class slave from the Iron Age, who was killed as a result of being hung by a rope noose, because he believed in another god than his community, which suggested he was rebelling against his own community.
As James Monroe was elected president, the Era of Good Feelings began and was characterized by cultural and economic nationalism. As a result of the War of 1812, the U.S. created a protective tariff in 1816 to prevent British goods from taking away American business. Protective tariffs were a part of Henry Clay’s American System which also included a national bank and internal improvements, however the plan was halted when the Panic of 1819 occurred; an economic disaster in which unemployment, banks closing, and debt increased. Monroe was a Democratic-Republican president but the Supreme Court was lead by Federalist chief justice John Marshall whose decisions consistently favored a
I decided to do this response on sources 10 and 11 which were about the destruction of the Holy Sepulcher. Source 10 was from a Christian's point of view. Right away, the source begins by describing how the sepulcher was destroyed by the prince of Babylon, and how the Jews aided in the destruction as well. This source portrays Jews as being bitter, bold, and proud people. It also states that the reason why the prince of Babylon wanted to destroy the sepulcher was due to the fact that Christians were gaining power, and that they supposedly would soon take over his entire kingdom, which of course, the prince could not let happen. After the Christians had figured out that it was the jews that had helped destroy the temple, they disowned them from
In 1493 Pope Alexander VI issued a papal bull to Spain granting them the land "west and south" of a pole-to-pole line 100 leagues west and south of any of the islands of the Cape Verde islands. A papal bull is a particular type of patent or charter issued by a Pope. The Pope decided which country would gain the heathen lands not controlled by Christians. (1.4) Within a century of its issuing the papal bull was no longer a model for settling territorial boundary questions. The papal bull had become defunct. The three main factors in Europe and North America that lead to the undermining of the papal bull can be placed in the categories of political, religious, and financial.
Have you ever heard of Valley Forge? Well , through the horrific events of Valley Forge , would you rather quit or stay? The Continental Army, has had several successes such as, Trenton and Princeton. They have gone through struggles depending on the length of their enlistment. Most were enlisted for 9 months. If I was a soldier I would have quit because I would not want to die from a illness, have poor food, lodging , and weather, and I would not want to suffer from the smoke in my hut.

What makes a person’s spirit triumph ? Love,Laughter, and Nature are all what make a person’s spirit triumph.
Section 10 of the Education Act was important at the time the act was written because when the land wars were coming to and end which meant for a lot of conflict between the British and the Maori, and there was still a lot of resistance with the Maori to any form of oppression from the European and when these acts were written there was still a bit of tension between some of the Maori about their land with the settlers. Before the 1877 Education Act there was the 1867 Native Schools Act, the policy for this act was assimilation, which reflected the Europeans beliefs relating to race and to civilise the Maori as they thought that Maori were incapable of acting on their own behalf. This act was implemented on the basis that education is important
God does not love transgressors. There will be a reward for those who fight for God.” (doc.8) These documents are trying to explain that fighting for God is good, but fighting for no reason is useless/ pointless. In 1797, cotton gin was discovered. Cotton production made the United States expand and started the Market Revolution. As the county continue to expand, economic opportunities grew even further. But even though there were many opportunities in the 19th century, due to race, ethnicity and even class, not all people living in the United States get to enjoy those opportunities. Race and ethnicity affected the economic opportunities of ethnic groups due to certain laws, rules and regulations made by Anglo-Americans.
The preamble played a vital role in shaping America as it is today. Three of the many national goals stated in this essential document include forming a more perfect union, establishing justice, and promoting the general welfare of every citizen. All of these goals have been achieved to some degree since the conception of the document and America continues to thrive and push forward, still as much in its’ prime as it was years ago.
The ideas behind the progression of the United States Government is tricky to understand. The Framers’ ideas can be debatable in telling what they actually meant. The Constitution, the key document that is the base of our country, have ideas of what the Framers thought would be the formation of a well governed country. They were influenced by Greek “democratic” governments and they thought it would be beneficial to apply it to their new country. However, was the Framers’ intention to make the United States a democratic country? The United States has too many people to make it truly democratic. In fact back then, the Framers were only familiar to themselves. I believe they were thinking of the elite white slave-owners and only considered them
Before the Reform Act of 1832, only a really small part of the British population could vote. Indeed, the right to vote was based on the amount of land you owned and so only rich land owners could vote and only even richer men could sit in Parliament. At that time this group was mostly made of Conservatives in opposition to Liberals who were mostly businessmen. So Liberals felt it wasn’t fair that they were rich but still couldn’t vote because they didn’t own land. So they pushed for a reform of the system and succeeded in lowering the property requirements to be able to vote.
In 1939 the world was plunged into World War II because of the Munich Agreement. The Munich Agreement was an agreement regarding the Sudetenland Crisis between the major powers of Europe after a conference held in Munich in Germany in 1938. The Sudetenland was an important region of Czechoslovakia. The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty created as a result of six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919, which put an official end to World War I between the Allies and Central Powers. The Munich Agreement caused many disagreements between European countries. Collective security was a more effective response to aggression than appeasement because more European countries disagreed than agreed
