I also attended 2 hours KCDC meeting on behalf of my supervisor. He couldn’t attend the meeting, so he asked me to attend it. Attending the meeting made me learn more about the programs that KCDC provide and project that they are working such as treatment group class, planning new group, partnerships with other agencies, research, and many more. Moreover, we also divided into three group to have short and small group workshop. I joined domestic violence that led by PawWah. The workshop was more like discussion and we all gave our ideas and perspectives to create domestic violence video for the Karen community and we came up with the best message that we would like to share with the audiences/public. After the workshop each group had to report

member and made aware that these meeting are held to reiterate plans know to all members ahead of time. It was also explained to me that new employees are to keep their talking points brief so that their ideas can be assimilated by all employees. I was not aware of these guidelines and I’d like to discuss some modifications that can be done to ensure future new hires are not blindsided and are thoroughly prepared for meetings and other procedures beneficial for excellent job performance.
I want to attend the SNMA Conference to learn about and discuss any improvements in medical education as well as learn how physician advocacy plays a role in health care and if there are any initiatives/programs to better improve patient career. I should attend the conference because I'm considering a 5-year MD/MPH track, so this conference would be an eye opener and my first introduction into the public health sector.
The counselor met Reynaldo for his scheduled individual session. Mr. Reynaldo denies any substances use this week. Reynaldo and I went over the AA meeting scheduled for the 24hour group in his community. Reynaldo agreed to attend two AA meeting by our next individual session. Reynaldo denies any HI/SI during the session. Reynaldo appears to be in the contemplation stage of change as evidenced by him continued to seek recovery. The counselor next individual session with Mr. Ventura is on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 2:30pm.
Educating the partners on the prevalence of abuse in our community and what we can do to protect more kids, increases the capacity to lead community efforts. Each meeting that I hold at the CAC shares a little bit of knowledge about emerging trends and practices in our work. Having representation from the various groups is essential for this capacity building and also having more community education events.
When I first heard that we were required to attend a twelve-step meeting, I was convinced that it would be an uncomfortable and frightening experience. In my mind, I saw addicted people as dysfunctional and lost individuals who were complete opposites of anyone in my life. I decided to attend an A.A meeting and once I walked through the doors, I realized I had been wrong. This is real evidence on how society’s stigma may be affecting our worldview very effectively in topics such as drugs and addiction.
On Wednesday, August 25, 2015 at 12:00pm, I went to an AA meeting at 570 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio, Christian church. The people were very welcoming; they started by reading the 12-step fellowship. They recited their prayer and each member introduces himself or herself as an alcoholic. It is amazing to see how the group interacts among each other freely probably without any concern of being discriminate or being judgmental.
On July 18, 2017, I attended the City of Gulfport’s City Council Meeting. The council is made up of elected members of the community whose focus is the city’s goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements. The council makes decisions that range from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning. Competencies demonstrated during the meeting were Competencies 3 and 5. Competency number 3 focuses on Advanced Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice. The meeting demonstrated knowledge of the ideas and concepts related to the notions of social justice, advocacy, leadership, social change, social support, social networks, and social capital consistent with a MSLC perspective. This competency was demonstrated by addressing community concerns by incorporating ideas of citizens and community leaders. Community leaders such as council members and the mayor provided support and clarification of city policies. The citizens advocated for changes in their community by bringing their issues to the city council for resolutions. Competency 5 focuses on Engaging in Policy Practice. This was demonstrated by advanced skills in social work practice including the ability to link theory, policy-practice, and research/ evaluation, and to employ leadership skills to demonstrate and promote such a linkage. This competency was demonstrated by city council members and the citizens of Gulfport, MS. They worked together to ensure
This semester, I decided to go to a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. known as the NAACP, meeting to attend their monthly leadership meeting. The meeting was held on March 17, 2016, and there were about 6 people in existence from the Golden Triangle area. All of the people in attendance are a part of the local chapter of the NAACP. The meeting was ran by the secretary and treasurer of the local chapter.
During my visit to my EDHE 105 teacher’s office, she encouraged me to attend two meetings for two organizations on campus. One was Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), a health profession based honors society, and the other was the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), a student lead, pre-medical organization aimed towards helping better prepare students for medical school. I was unfortunately busy during the time of the AED meeting and could not attend, but I was free during the AMSA meeting and decided to see what it was like. At first, I was skeptical about going to the meeting, because I knew that I would not know anyone else there. I was even more nervous about it when I saw how many people actually showed up, knowing that I still did not know anyone.
The meeting was a lot of fun and extremely informative about African culture. I thought it was amazing how nice and extremely considerate all the members were. We obviously stood out being the only white people in the meeting, but practically every officer came over and introduced themselves. And everyone we spoke to at the meeting was very enthusiastic and told us we should come again.
Teamwork is the joint action by a group to complete a given task. This was displayed by group 20 as each member contributed their individual knowledge and skills towards the team as well as the course objective.
I have never attended a community meeting or any meeting regarding my community therefore, attending this meeting for the first time was a great first experience. I was able to see how a meeting is ran and how the organization works in order to help make improvements in my community. When I went into the office the meeting was being held, I was offered an agenda and other informational forms regarding the meeting. The agenda provided information of how the organization of the meeting would be and who will be going over what topics. The meeting was a timed meeting where Richard Hernandez and Bill Houtt managed on recording to keep data. The issues that were discussed were citizen’s request for city improvements, a short review of the 2016 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) Accomplishments, which is a grant that helps build homes for low income families and was reviewed by Rhonda Haynes a community developer. Lastly, the Sidewalk at Divisadero and Rinaldi, North Visalia citizen report were also discussed by Bill Houtt a member of the committee, and construction issues in N. Visalia discussed by Lt. Brent Abbott.
On December 8, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., I participated in my second Live Tutoring Session with Rosetta Stone. My session took me through conversational practice on Level 2, Lesson 8 - Unit 2. This session was more conversational than any of the other session; I was the only student. The private session allowed me to test what I have learned in an all-Spanish conversation and demonstrate my growth.
