One of the first occurrences of female manipulation transpires when Dean comes home to Marylou after spending an abundance of time with Camille. Dean is known to leave his wife and pursue any women he wants, whenever he wants. This is one of the many examples of how Camille and Marylou are used only for sexual treatment. Marylou is the most familiar victim of Dean’s fluctuations to see his wife but for once Dean had a change of heart and “suddenly had an explosive yen to see his sweet first wife Marylou again” (111). This isn’t uncommon for Dean to get
On June 3, 1993, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley are arrested for the murders of three eight-year-old boys; at this time Damien is only 18 years old. Another significant event that happened during Damien’s adulthood is his girlfriend Dominic became pregnant and had his child Damian Seth Azariah who was born approximately before the trial. Domini would later explain that the child’s name is spelt differently than his dad’s due to the fact that it is based on a biblical character. During the trials Damien recalls just how agonizing it was when he stated,”The only thing I can compare it to is if... imagine that today you found a journal that you had written when you were fourteen or fifteen and started reading it, and had to see how much you had changed and grown as a person, and look back on them. It's kind of embarrassing”
In ancient Greek mythology there were gods and goddesses, heroes to their people. Today there are just hero’s, that people of the modern world thank and look up to for their inspirational acts. Just like the Gods and Goddesses, hero’s today are known to show strength, wisdom, bravery, and many other heroic characters. Jacqueline Cochran showed her heroic attributes when she came into WWII looking for a way for women to make a difference and fight in the war. Jaqueline founded WASP, Women Airforce Service Pilots, she made an impact in so many women’s lives by making them more included in the war instead of staying at home waiting for updates. Jacqueline shows the heroic traits that goddesses such as Athena showed in ancient Greece.
The story of Jarena Lee is one of great lows and great triumphs. It begins in Cape May, New Jersey, where on February 11, 1783 Jarena Lee was born. After telling this lie, Lee felt the spirit of God move throughout her and filled her with feelings of guilt. Lee promised herself she would never lie again and consequently beginning her long journey of finding the spirit of God. In 1804, Lee went to listen to a Presbyterian missionary preach the word of God. After listening to the missionary, Lee felt the full weight of her sins. She had given this up. All of it. The path of the witches, she had decided, was not hers to take. Wielders of the gift were meant to maintain balance in a world of evil. But those same protectors had fallen prey to greed, pride and an overbearing lust for power. Bethany was raised on the stories of covens going to war and even siding with the monsters they had sworn to destroy. Beth had promised never to choose a side. And to fulfill her promise, she rid herself of her powers. So why was she here, staring at the tattered notebook that contained not only her history of witchcraft but also her magic? Pale, slender fingers flipped through the makeshift grimoire. The nightmares hadn’t stopped. They wouldn’t. Bethany was normally conscious enough to dream lucidly, but the dreams were spiraling out of control. She was aware of the old phrase, “if you die in your dreams you die for real”. That’s what frightened her. Every night she died. Her lack of magic made her vulnerable to attack. The identity of the attacker was unknown. But not

Imagine a country that needed help, and you had the chance to help people, help kids and families in a very poor country that had barely anything. Imagine being able to change someone's life for the better! well katie davis did. In my eyes katie davis is a hero. She lives unselfish, left behind her whole life just to help others and she started a nonprofit organization.
The book I read was I Am a SEAL Team Six Warrior: Memoirs of an American Soldier by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. Howard is the main character of the story. The story is about his life, but more importantly it is about how he became a SEAL Team Six member. In order to do this he had to have a lot of admirable qualities. His most admirable quality was his determination to get the job done. It didn’t matter if it was during training or during an actual mission, he did his best to complete what he had started. Howard would be someone that I would want to know. He is caring and doesn’t ever leave a buddy behind. He knows what it is like growing up with a bad father figure, but he perseveres and turns it into fuel to accomplish his goals and dreams.

“Beginnings” as Applied to The Woman Warrior The beginning of Maxine Hong Kingston’s novel, The Woman Warrior, introduces various themes that recur throughout the story. Through the anecdotes Kingston shares about her childhood as a Chinese girl growing up in America, she discusses gender inequality and conflict due to a generation gap and a difference in cultures. By starting off with a story that her mother, Brave Orchid, told her about her dead and forgotten aunt, Kingston applies the techniques suggested in the chapter “Beginnings” in Technique in Fiction, igniting the readers’ curiosity and tying the memoir together. Kingston begins the novel in media res, or “in the middle of things” (Macauley and Lanning 31).
Colonel Kurtz Green Beret Colonel Walter E. Kurtz is an archetypal evil genius. He has a deep understanding of war, and has sacrificed his morality and helplessly resigned himself into a lifestyle of horror. His insanity is subjective. His brutality can be seen as madness, yet it could be argued that his methods could be considered sane in the context of a war which, in itself, is insane. An outstanding member of the US Military, Kurtz was punished for the murder of some people who he believed (and turned out to be) North Vietnamese intelligence agents.
