I am the Bob the heart. I am located just behind and slightly left of the breastbone. The system that works with me is the circulatory system. The circulatory system is an organ system that permits blood to circulate and transports nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones and blood cells. The circulatory system also helps forming cells in the body to nourish it and help fight diseases.
The cardiovascular system is the process of the heart pumping the blood around the body through blood vessels, arteries, veins and capillaries. The main functions of the system are to transport materials to and from the cells around the body, to assist in temperature, to keep the levels of fluid in the body at the correct level, to distribute heat around the body and to defend the body. This system is the heart, which is a muscle that pumps blood around the body through arteries, veins and capillaries. Blood transports oxygen to the body cells which helps them to metabolise energy in the body. During this process the blood is also getting rid of any waste products of respiration, carbon dioxide and water. Blood also helps to supply heat, hormones, nutrients, salts and urea around the body. The heart is placed in between the lungs which is protected by the rib cage and is the size of a fist.
The system works because in blood there are antigens and agglutinogens. In type A, only type A antigens on the red blood cells. Similar to this type B only has type B antigens. Type AB has both A and B antigens, which is why it is the universal recipient. Type O has neither A or B antigens making it the universal donor.
Chapter twenty is the last one of the circulatory system and it discussed about the blood vessels and circulation. Blood vessels is the distribution network or the network of tubes. There are three main blood vessels in the heart there are artery, veins and lymphatic. The arteries are all the blood vessels that take blood out from the heart. It tends to be thick, strong and tough because all the blood is rushing through the arteries. The arterioles are like the mini arteries that branch off of the arteries. Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels that comes off from the arteries and physically takes blood, oxygen and nutrients inside the blood to the cells that need it.
