His conscience also doesn't spare him when he does anything wrong. Two years ago when he was unsuccessful in saving a drowning girl, it haunts him. 10. "We've become bored with watching actors give us phony emotions." - This is saying that actors have been around long enough we have gotten bored with the fake emotions they portray and need something real. Truman was the answer, he was a real person living in a manipulated world. He was broadcasted to the world and even though they don't do anything like action movies it still captured the hearts and attention of billions of people.
After Duncan discovers what the author is going to do to some people later on, he decides to take matters into his own hands and catch the criminal. Normally, Duncan would not go and chase down a criminal, but after he finds the book, he decides that fate has brought the book to him. When Duncan is trying to track down the criminal, he thinks, “But the thing is, who knows if he’s picked out new targets by now? … Or if he’s already done it! … What if I’m already too late?” (Mcnamee 62). This quote proves that, when one does not know something important or kept in the dark for too long, they will start to rush to conclusions, and make assumptions that are mostly wrong because they do not take the time to think before they make their predictions. When Duncan finds the book and discovering the mystery of Roach, he constantly makes decisions like chasing down the murderer, or breaking into the criminal’s own home, things that he would never dare to do
Perhaps there is a message here about the content of television. Much of what appears daily on television is boring. Every season, television producers try to sort through what programs will capture the audience – once they define who that audience is. The Truman Story television audience is presumed stupid for being engrossed in the everyday life of an everyday person – perhaps the subtle question is Truman representing them? (Or us?) Why is Christof, the producer of this empty story, considered brilliant for reflecting this vacuum of television programming?
The development of Truman’s personal character and rise to presidency are an iconic example of McClelland’s (1975) concept of social power. Shriberg & Shriberg (2010) summarize the idea of social power as essentially a positive form of power built up from possessing integrity and a healthy idealism. Truman’s belief in America and its institutions are first shown when he declares that he is joining the military to participate in World War 1 despite the fact that he is not an ideal candidate and could avoid the draft if he chose to. In the military he secures a leadership position where he is shown to be comfortable giving and receiving orders, and being authoritative to his subordinates. After the war, and after a failed attempt at business, Truman runs for local office as a last resort career option. He takes his office position seriously, and is very stubborn when he discovers that political
William Shakespeare`s Macbeth tells audience a play of murders and sleepless nights. Macbeth is the thane of Glamis and a mighty general of Scotland. Macbeth is predicted to be the king of Scotland. However, the King of Scotland,King Duncan, is alive and is a good king to not to be murder by his people. Macbeth kills King Duncan and he becomes king with the fear of everyone killing him. Therefore, he kills anyone that is suspect to kill him. Macbeth becomes progressively more evil as the play continues.
There were a number of factors that influenced Macbeth's decision whether to assassinate King Duncan or not. Each of these arguments worked for or against Macbeth's better judgement of the situation. Eventually, a combination of all these factors broke down his conscience through his mental weakness; this led to an unwise decision to kill the King. The consequences of this were fairly disastrous because Macbeth began to regret his actions just moments after the deed was done.
In the play Macbeth, the witches told Macbeth that he will be a king one day, so he decided to kill Duncan to become a king. However, the way Macbeth read the prophecy was not right. There could be other ways to become a king instead of killing Duncan. Therefore, he needs to be punished for the murder. Even after he has slain Duncan, he was afraid of the prophecy that he killed Banquo and the family of Macduff. His aspiration led innocent killed, and for these three reasons, he should be sentenced for murdered.
This new outlook and personality he acquires along with the witches prophecies lead to his fatal downfall. The witches affect his perception by telling him what is going to happen in the future and they make him paranoid. He is confused after hearing them call him the “Thane of Caldor” and that he will soon be king. His trait of ambition in the beginning is his biggest weapon, but in the end, it is his own worst enemy. The murder of Duncan triggers this reversal of this ambition and leads to all the other murders in the story. Murder becomes the pistol to his holster and his ambition is now focused on taking out whoever opposes him or anyone he sees as a threat to his throne.
Macbeth's mental condition continues to deteriorate as his pursuit of power continues to drive him to commit more crimes. After his first killing Duncan to last killing Malcolm's family, the greed only caused him to commit more and more crimes. He would have never totally satisfied, he would always want more, but that is do to his greed that had corrupted his mind and heart.
Macbeth’s mental and moral deterioration throughout the play engages the audience illustrating how guilt overwhelms his conscience He believes he hears voices crying “Macbeth has murdered sleep” this demonstrates how he is battling against his morals and his ambition. His good qualities are battling his bad thoughts and this is the main reason for his mental downfall which makes for a deeply engaging plot. Macbeth goes from being a man of bravery, strength, honour yet he slowly loses these qualities. He once believed that killing a good man was an evil, un-worthy thing to do yet by the end of the play he is killing the people he once had close relationships with to get himself out of the mess that was dragging him deeper into despair and tragedy. This process is enthralling for the audience who cannot resist watching him go to any length to save himself as his morals go into deep decline. Ambition has completely taken over him in the soliloquy in which he states; “I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o’erleap itself and falls on the other.” In this instance Macbeth is interesting because he realises that the only thing that is making him want to kill Duncan is

Macbeth tells a story of deceit, betrayal, and a man who, once pushed, would stop at nothing to get what he desired and keep it that way. The murder of King Duncan was not simply just because of Macbeth, as most people would usually believe since he was the one that went ahead with stabbing him. The blame should rightly fall on both Lady Macbeth and the Witches. There are multiple facts to support this statement.
