GP Relevance of Biographies In what ways has the work of either artists, musicians, and/or writers influenced your life? Many believe that it’s lame to be a part of the Performing Arts. What most of those people don’t understand is that their favorite actors/actresses were a part of theatre or band when they were in high school. Personally, many performers have affected my life tremendously and many other lives as well. They give us hope that someday we will be in their shoes and living the life we’ve always dreamed. Debbie Reynolds, Martin Short, Ellen Degeneras and Audrey Hepburn are perfect examples of people who worked super hard to make their dreams come true. These days it’s very hard to imagine yourself getting a part because of all of the people who are newly interested in singing and acting but these famous people show that you should never give up no matter what. First, an amazing actress who inspired many is Debbie Reynolds. Debbie Reynolds has affected my life by the fact that she had a huge career in Musical Theatre. My life long dream is to be on Broadway and do what I love, which is to be in shows. Debbie Reynolds has starred in so many classic movies as well, such as “Singin’ …show more content…
She inspired me mainly because when she went in to the industry she was considered “different”. Her personality and her physical appearance were different then other girls at the time. She was considered “quirky” or “super skinny” but she didn’t let those works destroy her and now she is well known for those two things. She’s very important to me because I feel as if I don’t look like the other girls at my school and she taught me that I should embrace it and flaunt my “quirkiness”. She’s also well known for playing the lead role as Gigi in the Broadway production “Gigi”. She taught me to be confident with myself no matter what and to not let anyone tell you something is not
Amazing how a little girl can make history and contribute so much to society. Despite the things she went through she stayed strong. She is great influence to all of us. Like Bridges says,“Don’t follow the path. Go where there is no path and begin the trail. When you start a new trail equipped with courage, strength and conviction the only thing that can stop you is
I look up to her because she was the first African-American to accomplish something big and I want to be the first African-American to accomplish something big.
My good friend, Rebekah Dobbins was an exceptional woman. She was loved by many especially by her friends and of course me. She worked extremely hard throughout her life, her short life, but her best life. Living only till her 17th year, she was successful nonetheless working hard in her English class, band, and in theater participating in numerous high school musicals. I feel as though Rebekah really lived by the words of Shakespeare's As You Like It “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.” She truly did play all the parts. She played as a companion, a caregiver to those in need, and never once did she break such a strong character. A true chariot of gold.
She was a really tough girl that didn’t let herself down. Which inspired people that had serious causes like her to be tough. She also showed that having something serious didn’t stop her from doing something. In the movie she was in and that she inspired people “ Fault in our Stars” nothing stopped her from doing anything.
This also tied back to the way she was fighting for African American rights, not only in a political way but also in her art. She helped changed the way Old Negros looked, raggedy clothes and sometimes no clothes to the way New Negros looked, with angelic robes. She helps portray a way African Americans were not commonly portrayed before. Even in her Gamin a simple sculpture bust of her nephew, helped change the way people view African Americans. Just because he is a street urchin, does not mean he does not have emotions and deep
She remains an inspiration to many and a lasting example of the power of perseverance and
Maya Angelou has inspired me in more ways than one, and I had to write about her. When Maya speaks people listen. She has this wisdom that only few have, especially when life wasn’t always great. She turned tragedy into triumph, and helped others in doing so. So, Maya has proven too many women, especially black women that you succeed, even if you have had a child in your teen years. She’s proof that with determination nothing is unattainable.
You are an inspiration to girls and woman all over the world. There are many things that made you famous. Like being the richest African American woman, your school in Africa, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Time magazine named you one of the most 100 influential people 9 times. That’s a lot of things.
I picked Mia Hamm for my project because she started as such a little girl that loved soccer in a PeeWee League to the best female soccer player in the world. I learned from Mia to never give up on you dream and strive to achieve it. Mia Hamm inspires so many people because she shows that if you have a desire chase it and don't give up because you will get to where you want to be in life.
She was the essential focus in the fifties and provided a turning point in time for women in America. She is an inspiration to me because she did not let her struggles stop her from achieving her goals. Monroe did not let her background and struggles stop her from reaching her goals. Marilyn overcame many struggles in her lifetime and still did not let her struggles get in the way from reaching her goals. She was an independent woman taking advantage of the opportunities that afforded her in the movie making business. There was never an opportunity that slipped through Marilyn’s fingers, she took advantage of every opportunity that came her way and it led her to be the successful woman who in the blink of an eye became the most iconic sex symbol in the United States. Lastly, she let her natural abilities and looks shine through as an example to women during this time and still today. Marilyn Monroe never let anyone define who she truly was and never let anyone get in the way of her achieving her goals, once she had her mind set on doing something she sought out to do
Despite criticism, she has inspired people to be themselves regardless of what others throw at you and that you don 't have to always fit in. Becoming an alcoholic is one of the things that takes a toll on you. Whats even better is that she reinvented herself into a new person. She never had the easy life. She once said,“ I haven’t had nothing done at all. Anyone who’s known me will tell you that. Im sorry, but I was living in a trailer park for a few years. I didn’t even have enough money to buy Cocoa Puffs”.
I get inspiration from them because they changed the way I comprehended things about myself. African American women who embrace who they are inspired me to love my skin and my hair. When I was younger I always hated how short and curly my hair was and how brown and dark my skin is but I started to learn how to love everything about myself, I gained confidence in how I looked and I finally felt at peace. Furthermore, the anti-bullying
Her paintings expressed topics that where consider taboos in the 1930´s, for example, in her painting “Henry Ford Hospital” she expressed the physical and emotional pain a women haves to go through when it comes to the miscarriage of a child. She is inspiring to women because, she didn’t censored herself with art and the topics covered with it, this helped women understand themselves in higher level.
My inspiration and creative path have been inspired by the following women. A theorist, I felt I resonated with was Simone de Beauvoir on her myths, dreams, fears, and idols leading women to be viewed as the other. The second woman that inspired me is the author Kate Chopin, a feminist author of the 20th century. Her works were written on the first feminist views and women's issues. My third inspiration comes from the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, who wrote the inspiring short story, Yellow Wallpaper. Each of these women I feel stepped out in time to express women's issues and explore the possibilities of change. In addition to the above authors, the artist that has given me inspiration is Jenny Morgan. Her art work explores the identity
She was idealized by every young African American girl in the 70's. She produced number one hits one after the other and became a social icon.
