Growing up, I learned to equate being successful with money and power. I grew up watching my favorite athletes and celebrities boasting about their money on television and thought to myself, how cool would it be to be that successful in life. Now that I am older, I realize there is more to life than money, cars, and all different types of materialistic things. Merriam-Webster describes success as the “degree or measure of succeeding”. Success is a very personal thing in this world. What drives one person to be successful may be completely different to another and that is what gives the word success so much dimension to it. One measure of success is happiness. One person may feel their happiest when they own a number of expensive things. They
The meaning of "success" has numerous interpretations, whether it is your own or society's definition. Within Outliers author Malcolm Gladwell explains that being successful has nothing to do with what kind of person you are, so whether you are intelligent and hardworking or lazy and aloof, it depends on your circumstances growing up. Whether your parents happen to be immigrants, you are one of the smartest men in the country or you make a habit of practicing an activity for a certain amount of hours a day, your own personal success, according to Gladwell is defined by the conditions you grew up in; the idea of being successful varies from culture to culture, therefore, there is no definite meaning of success other than one's interpretation.
I define success as trying you're hardest no matter what and persevering through everything that you try. You may not get through the problem that you are having. Even though you didn't complete the challenge that you were having if you got as much out of the task that was placed in front of you, then you have succeeded. I also define success as when you set a goal for you're self or someone else sets a goal for you. If you reach that goal or go above that goal that was set, then you have succeeded. I believe that success is not just finishing you're work, test or challenge, if you finish it but do not do you're best and try you're hardest, then I believe that you are not successful in what you just did, but if you go as hard as you can, not
To begin, many people define success as making a lot of money or having a really big house, but in reality it’s so much more than that. The world today commonly associates success with money, talent, and fame. Those who do not work hard or are just merely given such items like cars, clothes, jobs, fame, or houses are actually not very successful at all. For example, people like the Kardashian girls are viewed as gods by society today and have more money then anyone can think of. In reality, the Kardashians were just handed basically everything they now have today and are not successful in the sense of the word. They are not hardworking people who have endured failures and struggles during their lives due to being financially secure from their parents.
There are many different understandings of what success is. Some relate success to money, others relate success to happiness, but it all depends on the type of person.
Success is a definition within the mind of every individual. We have the definition of success cultivating in our minds since we were young children by being told repeatedly to work hard and go to school so we can make lots of money. With that ideal, we spend a majority of our lives working towards our success. In many cases, people will go into a profession just because they made good money but are not happy with their life. They then leave that profession for one that they want to do and, even though they make less money, they are happier and enjoy life more. But, we all have different interpretation of success, some people believe success is measured by wealth and social
The definition of success differs from person to person. According to the “Poolside” Cadillac commercial, success is having a large house, nice family and a new car. How is that success accomplished? According to the mainstream media, success is achieved through hard work and perseverance. Not by taking extravagant vacations, or working for only a few hours a day. Success for others on the other hand could be having a large amount of free time. The media gives examples of what they think success is, but ultimately it’s up to the person to decide what is success is.
Success to me is definitely an abundance of wealth; however, I believe that my strive towards this means so much more. My hard work will not equivocate to the stereotypical desire for materialistic happiness. I will need a lot more than that in life, because I know that true success is to provide for the people you love in order for them to be successful as well. Working hard to earn as much money as possible will allow me to help my parents buy the house of their dreams. Someday I will help my children go to any college of their choice no matter the cost. I want to be so financially successful that no one in my family will ever have to lose an great opportunity simply because we cannot afford it.
In my eyes, success can have a variety of different meanings. I believe success comes within a person and their dreams. It doesn't have to mean you're the richest person or have the biggest house. I believe in a more humbling success. In other words, success displays one who has reached his own personal goals and is happy and content with the outcome of the chosen goals.
Success is an interesting word to all of us, from the earliest age even to the grave’s edge we cannot be indifferent to it. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines success as the fact of getting or achieving wealth (“Success”). However, an
A large portion of one’s life is spent working to be successful. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by wealth and your social status; for others success is determined by how happy you are. I believe success is all about reaching goals and being happy. A successful life can only be obtained by pursing your passion, maintaining healthy relationships, and putting self-approval over the approval of others.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you’ve accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most successful. Rich, poor or in between, they’ve tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn’t afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start-up company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is practiced, things won’t spin out of control.
Success. It comes in various ways. A lot of times people like to base their success on the level of their achievement, I am one of those people. As a perfectionist it’s difficult to maintain a level head when I fail or succeed. Failures occurred to me all the time. Even when success was reached I find myself looking for more. Resilience was the most important life lesson I learned through sports. I taught myself to not give in when I faced an obstacle. Whether it meant going down 2-0 early in a game or having to play a game without my team’s top goal scorer, my resilience was what kept me working till the very end. Throughout my entire soccer career I never really felt success. Of course there were small spurts of successes when it came to
Most people commonly describe success, as being wealthy in life. This is not the meaning entirely, the definition of success is simple. A person is successful, if he or she has very good payment at his or her work and if he or she is happy with the job, they are doing. Education really leads to success. If a person has good education, he or she can choose their careers and be successful at it. Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge and skills is being transferred from a group of people to another or from a generation to the next, through teaching and training. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way someone thinks feels and acts can be said to be educational. Apart from education, other different traits lead
Everyone has had the feeling of succeeding in their lifetime at one moment or another, whether it would be for a sport, hobby, or a job. The Webster’s dictionary defines success as the following: the accomplishment of an aim or purpose; a person or thing that achieves desired aims. The meaning of success can be broadly disputed, and can be applied to even the smallest of accomplishments. Success to me is very important, without success you don’t go anywhere in life, or develop a purpose.
Doing the thing that we liked, and living for ourselves is the real success. Every people want to be successful, but, there are many different criteria of success. To some people, they simply think that the success is just get a lot of money, because, people have money they can get anything which they wanted. A few people think the success is people can do what they want to do and they can live freely, that is freedom. Success is not just contained in the physical plane, it depend on people desire. For me, success is not very difficult to get, I do not fully agree that success is people have a lot of money, but I discovered the different success in the stages of my life when I was growing up.
