Helen Keller once stated that “Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” Friendship can be defined in many different ways. For example a four year old might say that a friend is the other boy that gave him a cookie. While an adult says someone to talk and relate to when they need it. They are also formed in a plethora of ways. For instance, the two four year olds could grow up staying friends, or you meet some random person in the supermarket and start talking, or even through another friend. Friends are part of what makes life fun, being able to enjoy the joyous times with another person, and lean on them in the challenging times. I have and had many friends I would consider best friends but one in particular comes to mind, Madi. I have known Madi for three years, but it feels like forever. I know this person is my best friend because our friendship and I are very important. She worries and makes sure I’m okay. I know this is a good friendship because we are loyal, trustworthy, and ready to help each other when needed. I have been going through a lot this year and she has been there by my side the whole time. She helps me stay calm and focused and gets me to do stuff that I couldn’t imagine doing with anyone else by my side. We have gone riding, done OHSET, work, travel, and practically live together. Over time I believe I have gotten her out of her comfort zone and she has done the same for me. These changes have occurred because we are comfortable with each other. Our relationship in ten years will change in many ways. We will go to college, get married, and hopefully stay connected. One of my wishes is for our kids to grow up together and become best friends, and if they are opposite sexes possibly get
