What is the meaning of friends? If you ask me, friends are people who cheer for you, always on your side, and you trust with your secrets. To different people, friends have various meanings. I think everyone would agree that a friend will always be there. Your friends aren’t just anyone, your friends are outstanding people who are like family to you.
“People who only contact you when they need something from you are just acquaintances. Not friends”. This is a quote by Rick Warren. “Each person has a core group of about 5 friends. This expands to a bigger circle of 15, then 50, and then 150.” (“No New Friends”).A person can only have a few close friends but at the same time we can have lots of acqaintances.
Friendship can be described in many ways. Friendship can mean love, loyalty or even fun. For me friendship is more of loyalty. Loyalty for me is very important in a friendship because, like everyone has their own secrets that wants to share with someone of confidence or that are loyal to you. But for example their is many people that they pass themselves by being great and loyal friends. Until one day, that you have revealed your secrets to that person maybe that, that person goes and tell everybody else. But, otherwise i have this friend that has been with me since day one. She became like my sister to me she has always helped me with things and has always kept my secrets safe, her name is Ashley just like i've always kept her secrets safe
Friendship is important for us to grow and become who we want to become in life. Every human needs friendship as a necessity for us to thrive as we are not all self-sufficient in ourselves. Just think if no one talked to each other and we never made friends, this world would be a ticking time bomb. My personal definition of a friend is someone who is always there, helps me with the simple or complex decision, always looks out for what is best for me, and being able to have trust between each other.
The definition of a strong friendship are two friends that would like to pass the time together and have no bad discussions.
Who do you consider your friends? For me, a friend is someone who makes you laugh, they're nice, you can joke around with this person, and it's very easy to tell them anything because you trust them. If I talk to someone occasionally, and we're nice to each other but we never get into weird and funny conversations that later on leads to inside jokes, I wouldn't consider them a friend. All of the people I consider my friends are people who just bring joy to me. One common experience I have had with all my friends is laughing for a very long time non-stop until our stomachs hurt. For example, once I was skyping with two of my friends, Kim and Cortes. Cortes saw a post on Twitter that said "I hate it when teachers coffin skate
As a child, there was a plaque on my father’s den wall that I would read everyday. It read, “A friend is someone who knows all about, and loves you anyway.” I did not understand what it meant. I though it was a cynical quote against friendship, being my father was the sarcastic type. As an adult, I have to admit secret apologies to my dad, because now I understand the concept and meaning, and hold it to be true in my heart of what friendship is about. Being an evolving emotion, friendship enters and flees life, faster than the speed of light. You will never know when you might meet a true friend, and cannot fathom the day that you will part company with one.
Friendship in itself can have a variety of meanings. A more modern definition of friendship is a mutual connection between two or more people. Though this definition is not wrong by any means, a classical definition, created by Aristotle, goes further to explain what friendship, or philia in Aristotle’s days, really means and what it takes to have a friendship. Aristotle describes his definition of friendship as “reciprocated goodwill” (Aristotle 121). There isn’t just one type of friendship either, but there is rather three types of friendships that come with three different types of rules behind them. These three types of friendships are friendship of utility, friendship of pleasure, and friendship of the good. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as a companionship that will dissolve after the advantage is not apparent any longer, or in other words, a friendship in which one friend has an advantage for being the others friend. The second type of friendship, friendship of pleasure is a friendship in which a friend has a bond with another in return for their own pleasure. The third, and final, type of friendship Aristotle calls friendship of the good, which is a perpetual and instinctive companionship between two persons that are mirrored by virtue and are in the friendship for equal benefits. Each type has their own strengths and own weaknesses, but in the end, they all are equal by their connection: friendship.
Humans are social creatures and making friends is part and parcel of life. It is considered as the most important fundamental experience of any one life. Friendship can be developed as private or public and it is studied in both ways ethically and philosophically as individually or socially. In my own definition, friendship is basically the mixture of emotions and feelings that are expressed in a way that makes a person feels important and loved. In a relationship, one person expects so much and likes to speak their heart out in time of need. In my opinion, friends are the ones with whom we develop several types of relationships and we keep so much love and emotions for the same person. Therefore, we always have different types of friendship with everyone.
When you have a friend and you are spending time with them, do you realize you are usually in the same mood as they are at that moment? To me, that is true friendship because it shows that you enjoy spending time together and what makes your friend happy/sad will do the same for you. True friends/best friends will never turn their backs on you for anything. People will always talk bad about you at some point in your life and if your real friends are with them, they won't turn their backs and join in on the conversation. This is because they should simply know better to walk away or even ask them to stop the conversation when they are in the same atmosphere. Many people have many different types of friends and I believe this goes with the saying, “all types of people make the world go round.” As a child, I grew up having morals and respect not only for my friends, but also for others that were in my surrounding areas. My parents really taught me the values of friendship and I never really understood why until I got older. I always would question myself why they would value it so much as well. Until one night, as I was laying in bed I began to think deeply and finally came up with an answer. Friendship is what makes people who they are because without friends what would we really have to keep us sane at times? Nothing. One could have multiple definitions of what a true friend could be, but to me, a real friend is trustworthy, supportive, and also a role model. I choose these

The other day, I was asked what friendships really are. I didn’t waste a moment to tell what I thought friendships are. Friendships come in many shapes and often appear when we least expect them. True friends will literally bend over backwards for you. A friend is a person I put all of my trust into. They are my shoulder to cry on and my go to person when I feel down or alone.
