What is freedom? Freedom is one of those special things should be everyone. Many have their own way of looking at what freedom is. Some say it’s being able to make your own decisions or having justice. But what does freedom mean to me? When you are free, you have a sense of being free. Feeling free to me means having the ability to be able to express yourself and your beliefs without being judged by others. With freedom, there is equality, happiness, and respect of yourself and others. But freedom is more than being just free. Freedom comes with desire too.
Many don’t realize how lucky the United States is for being a free nation and how privileged we are. The United States had to fight for their independence because they had a strong desire

Freedom is a word we all know; we all hear it ring in our ears, but what is freedom really? The dictionary definition is “the condition of being free of restraints”. We are all fettered by something whether it is a cell phone or bigger like an addiction; we all have something that makes us feel a little restrained at times. Other times however we get so caught up in wanting to do whatever we want that we don’t see that is not really freedom. Another definition of freedom from the dictionary is that it is “a right or the power to engage in certain actions without control or interference”.
Freedom means different things to different people at different times, depending on what political context is being used. The two major senses of freedom are: freedom of and freedom from. As Philip Randolph said, “Freedom is never given, it is won.” Philip was a leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement and the American labor movement. We have historically had to learn from our mistakes, such as the Spanish-American War. In the Spanish-American War we were trying to protect people, so we thought, so they fought against us and they fought back. We deserved to right to do what we want after what happened here, we proved ourselves. To me, freedom is learning from you mistakes.

When I think of Freedom, I picture America. America is one of the few countries on Earth that is considered to be free. Freedom is such an important part of America, it is in our national anthem,: “O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” The United States of America is a country that was founded on freedom. Brave men and women sailed across the Atlantic to escape persecutions in England in search of new land where they could be free. Later, this same breed of determined individuals fought against the most powerful army in the world, at the time, and won their independence. Those people laid the foundation of America’s freedom and paid for it with their lives.
Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn’t have these barriers, they don’t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their mind, I think they’ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and the freedom to do what they please.

Freedom in a dictionary means, “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.” To me, freedom means so much more, with pride behind it. For hundreds years America has been based off the common ideals of freedom. What freedom means to me is, 100% equality, being able to express yourself and to have rights and preserve them.
The constitution of the United States of America gives me the right to freedom because I am a United States citizen. I consider "freedom" to be my right to express myself in any way I choose. Freedom is defined as "having liberty of action or thought, independent". "Self-governed or not controlled by an outside party" is another definition of freedom. Freedom has a different meaning to each individual thus making it hard to find a clear concise definition.
