Deforestation Effects
The rainforest is one of Earth's most valuable resources and at the destruction rate, people need to stop ignoring this problem. “Around the world, Tropical Rainforests are being destroyed at a rate of 80 to 90 acres each minute.”(Thompson, Heather) The rainforest is home of many living creatures and provide the world with many supplies such as, food, clean water, and housing, but soon the population of those living creatures will decrease and those supplies will be gone. People need to end deforestation globally because of the main effects it has on earth like the social, environmental, and loss of different species.
Social effects are one of many of the big effects of deforestation. The most threatening social effect that deforestation has on most areas is in the medical profession. “Tropical rainforest have given us chemicals to treat or cure inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes, muscle tension, surgical complications, malaria, heart conditions, skin diseases, arthritis, glaucoma, and hundreds of other maladies.” (Tropical Forest In Our Daily Lives.) Every day, nearly 137 species are becoming extinct making it a complete unknown possibility of Pharmaceutical potential being destroyed. (Deforestation Effects.) Instead of destroying species everyday for just paper, pencils, and many other sources when people can cut them down for more useful reasons like medicine and not destroy many all at once.
