Internships integrate academic with practical and industrial knowledge. This documents outlines my rich experience during the summer internship. I worked with Deloitte as a cyber risk intern. It was not just about ample hands-on experience but, it was also about enhancing my academic learning at Mays Business School.

The work being done there was compliance related and they were helping the client to prepare for an audit. Risk assessment and process improvement suggestions were their primary focus. I had worked on MS Visio to elucidate the process flows of various internal processes. During this assignment, I also suggested some improvements and raised some questions that the internal teams could reconsider their process flows. I had also worked on preventing data privacy issues with respect to third part contracts.
Contributions of this Internship to my Education
A fall course on Information Security before the internship gave a theoretical foundation. The internship reinforced the knowledge on risk assessment and some basics about security. I also learned about how these are used in the real world. I also had a glimpse of how the project management concepts are being used in industries while validating contracts. The internship experience was a good blend of technology and management concepts, much like the MIS course.
What I Gained?
Through this internship, I gained a lot of confidence of how I can learn new things quickly and converse with many people and build relationships. At Deloitte, there is a lot of emphasis on networking, which I was an amateur at before joining as an intern. This internship has improved my networking skills and has helped me understand its importance. There were many opportunities that were
An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.
As the internship program and the training intended, I have learned much related to my major, Criminal Justice. This internship helped me to acknowledge that qualified, knowledgeable professionals are needed by our complex society to define, administer, and put our rules and standards into force. Like jobs in any other field, to work in the field of law requires expertise. Trained experts are the most desirable to be hired by organizations, tasked to manage justice, to direct their operations. By writing articles for the legal website, I learned to assess law enforcement situations orderly. I learned to make use of the basic legal and management theories to analyze the situations. I got the opportunity to show my understanding of the key process in the U.S. criminal justice system. I also learned to combine approaches from management, law, and the behavioral science to apply them to the situations I was studying.
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
Students receive on-the-job experience prior to graduation, and the internship assists them in obtaining permanent employment. Facilities benefit from the opportunity to participate in and improve the formal education process. Quite often, students who complete professional practice experiences are later employed by the facility at which they completed the internship.
After speaking to people, I often had a time to reflect on what I heard. The product was a much greater understanding of the complexity of the American political system. I grew up thinking that that one side was right, and the other was full of irrational arguments. However, people sharing bits of their lives with me taught me that is not true. The support and opposition for every policy makes sense, and deciding which is right is far more of a value judgment than a facts-based judgment than I could have imagined. I feel less sure about what I believe politically after the internship, but again, I do not think that is a bad thing. For the first time, I know how to enter into a thought process without a bias, and able to listen to both sides. This skill is critical for any studies or career in the social sciences.
Internship is a period of work experience offered by an employer to give people (usually college students and graduates) exposure to the working environment. It gives them an opportunity to get first-hand experience. The growing need for practical learning led to the emergence of internship. It helps to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Internships in any form- paid, unpaid or co-operative learning has now become a standard practice for college students. It has
Last semester, I competed for the PricewaterhouseCoopers Competition challenge, in which I was able to work with three women and come with a solution for a problem a company was facing while considering their financial goals and objectives. Moreover, I also interned as Financial Planning Intern for The M Group and Associates. Through this position, I was able to learn more about financial services including investment planning, asset management, employee and executives benefits accounts, retirement planning, and many others. I was able to contact customers and explain different financial services available as well as their benefits and limitations. My Security Analysis Portfolio Management (FIN 421) allowed me to use MS Excel to do portfolio rebalancing, compute accumulated real retirement savings for different return realizations, implement rick parity strategy for backtesting, and be a portfolio manager for a large pension fund and use mean variance analysis to allocate funds across major asset
The internship was a channel to direct my passion for helping others; my supervisor assigned me numerous projects that involved communicating with community leaders. One project was a collaboration with the U.S. Probation Office to reduce recidivism, and it allowed me first hand encounter on how to create policies and procedures to promote community and individual growth. This insight has inspired me to attend law schools to influence legal policies. After the internship, I continued my involvement in the community outreach through the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Females' Center of Excellence & Leadership, Inc. by mentoring at-risk youths and providing learning opportunities to the youths.
What was missing or disappointing, if anything, about this internship? What was especially rewarding and educational?
Different aspects of this internship were interesting. For instance, I enjoyed learning how to work with different management styles that I did not work with before. I learned how to ask my supervisor specific questions in order to meet important deadlines. I also learned about my strengths and weaknesses.
This is a priceless opportunity. The skills I would perfect while in the internship will better prepare me for life after school. I hope to also learn new skills and techniques to better my performance. These will better equip me to handle situations
Typically, internships are professional experiences that students participate in to gain professional skills and experiences. In this particular experience at Accounting Firm X I did in fact gain substantial professional skill while participating in new and challenging experiences. Internships allow in- class material to come to life in a practical manner. My internship did do this but not in a way that I had planned.
Over the past 10 weeks, I have worked at Deloitte & Touche, LLP as an Audit Intern. Overall the internship was an important learning experience and invaluable in my professional development. I was able to gain real work experience in audit and network with many people at different stages in their careers. There were many Deloitte-sponsored intern events in addition to the regular daily work I performed on my three engagements.

For this experience I obtained through my final year project, in which I need to design and manufacture a simple device. I may need to use some tools I had never use before such as the electric drill. That project is basically about wave energy converter. This experience broaden my knowledge about engineering as general and allows me to learn things that I cannot obtained in class such as real engineering design experience where I need to planed, drew and even manufactured my own design with the help of workshop during my final year project, while in this internship I experience firsthand how to manage and checking an ongoing project in such a huge scale and also how a team should work in big group compared to a small group of 4-5 people in class.
