My favorite constellation is Delphinus. I really didn't know much about different constellations so I did some research and found this one. Dolphins have always been one of my favorite animals so I instantly liked it. Delphinus is the latin word for Dolphin, and Delphinus is in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. Delphinus was one of forty eight constellations founded by Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Delphinus is a rather small constellation, ranking 69th biggest out of 88. It is also bordered by Vulpecula, Sagitta, Aquila, Aquarius, Equuleus, and Pegasus.
There were two origin stories for the constellation, but I found the first one made more sense and it's Greek. Poseidon wanted to marry a nereid named Amphitrite but she wasn't
The constellation was named after Princess Andromeda, also known as "The Chained Woman" - wich is, too, the nickname of the own constellation -. Andromeda was known for her beauty, and her mom one day claimed that she was even more beautiful then the Nereids, a particularly alluring group of sea nymphs. The Nereids were outraged by the affirmation and decided to ask Poseidon, the God of The Seas to give her a lesson. Poseidon then send a monster to destroy Andomedra's father's territory, and Andomedra decided to sacrifice herself to pay for the sins of her mother, and then was given chained to Poseidon to die. The story goes on, and it ends with Perseus - the son of Poseidon - saving her, but that's the bit that named the constellation.
John Barth, and acclaimed writer said, “Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story” (Hero/Heroism). To me that means everyone is a hero in one way or another. Volunteering is an example of being a hero. You could be helping disabled people by volunteering at Camp Courageous. Deloras Propst volunteers at the Camp Courageous Garage Sale here in Manchester Iowa. The garage sale raised $115,000 last year for the camp (Propst). This is one reason I count Deloras Propst as a hero.
My favourite constellation is the Aquarius one. I particularly like this constellation because I love the mythology behind it. It is said the the Greeks connected the Aquarius constellation with Ganymede who was known as the cup bearer to the gods. According to the myth, apparently Ganymede was a handsome young boy who Zeus had an interest for. Ganymede was brought to Mount Olympus by Zeus, where he served as cup bearer to the gods and there he was granted eternal youth after he poured out Zeus wine and water which caused a great flood because he didn't want to serve drinks anymore.
Cassiopeia is the constellation I have chosen. It is a very interesting constellation, comprised of various stars named with a Greek letter followed by Cassiopeiae (e.g. Alpha Cassiopeiae). The stars also have various traditional names of other origin, for instance Alpha is traditionally called Shedir from Arabic. I chose the constellation partly because I like the name, but it also has interesting origins and I am glad I looked up more details about it.
I am a hybrid. African American and Latina. I am a mix of my grandmothers. Deloris is an African American woman who raised her children with southern pride in North Carolina. She happily spoiled them with fried chicken gizzards, hush puppies, collard greens and tough love. Elizabeth is a Venezuelan woman who fell in love with a Puerto Rican musician named Eusebio. She spoiled all of her children with love, arepas, tostones, arroz con leche and teddy bears. I have never met Deloris, but I have seen pictures. She lives through the many sayings that she preached to my mother, and ultimately what my mother preaches to me. Elizabeth adored oversized earrings, rings, and stuffed animals. On the day of her death I was left Goldie, Blue and a
The world of transportation is constantly evolving. Innovators all over the world are trying to find to create new forms of transportation that is fast and efficient. One innovator, Elon Musk, has created the Hyperloop; a new idea for transportation of passengers and cargo. The Hyperloop travels the country within tubes allowing passengers and cargo to enter and exit at specific locations throughout the country. It travels faster than the speed of an airplane at the price of a bus ticket. The one-million dollar donation provided by the Board of Education should fund the creation of a Hyperloop station in Delphos.
I chose the constellation, Orion. It is one of my favorites, because ever since I was little, I was able to find it, and it was cool to me. The constellation depicts a man, holding his shield in front of hi, and sword overhead. It signifies a hunter, attack his prey, especially since he follows other celestial animals, like Lepus, a rabbit, and Taurus, a bull.
The constellation I have picked is The Wolf or Lupus. I have chosen this constellation because I have a fascination for wolves and I find that this constellation is a good representation of that.Wolves are strong, fearless, and don't back down from a fight unless injured or killed.
My chosen constellation is Gemini, a constellation of the Zodiac. I chose it because both me and my father, who had an important role in my interest for Astronomy, are Gemini. The constellation of Gemini, which means "twins" in Latin, was discovered by Ptolemy in the second century A.D. and it has 85 stars. The Alpha star is Pollux and the Beta star is Castor, which are the names of the two twin brothers that are associated with Gemini.
My favorite constellation is Scorpius. I have chosen Scorpius because that is my Zodiac sign, and I have come to learn about it a lot in the past few years. Scorpius is Latin for "scorpion," and Scorpius is in between the constellation Libra to the west and Sagittarius to the east.
I have chosen Cassiopeia as my favorite constellation. The reason why i chose this constellation is firstly because I find it very easy to find in the sky due to its M or W shape ( depending on the season ), and secondly, because it is one of the first constellation on which I made a research on it's creation myth. Cassiopeia is still to this day one of the 88 recognized constellations by the International Atrsonomical Union.
Pegasus is my favorite constellation. It lies in the northern sky and looks like a box with legs. I like the idea of a horse with wings that can not only gallop across land but also fly freely through the sky. I dream sometimes of having my own winged horse to ride and for this reason Pegasus is my favorite constellation.
The constellation is of a dolphin because it soothed the sea nymph, Amphitrite, when she tried to reject Poseidon affections for her. Some say she was trying to protect her virginity, while others say it was only rejection.
My favourite constellation is Cancer, or, the crab. This is my Zodiac sun sign, the zodiac segment the sun was in at the time I was born. The Cancer is the dimmest of the zodiac signs, and it looks like an upside-down Y. It can be seen during autumn in the southern hemisphere and northern hemisphere in early spring.
