In order to fully understand this, this report will cross reference certain items with that of the same store in other states. Oʻahu Supermarket Information In Hawai’i, supermarkets are common, though not like the ones you have find in other areas of the United States. On our island, the swap meet could be considered a supermarket because there you can buy an array of items such as dried goods, seeds, nuts, fruits, ect. The most common of any of the supermarkets that we have would be Safeway, Target, and Walmart. Each of these markets offers the same goods as well as their own branded goods, for example Target has other brands such as Betty Crocker when it comes to baking, but they also offer their own Target brand of baking goods. According to the Target website, on the island of Oʻahu, we have a total of 3 target locations (Kapolei, Honolulu, Kailua). Each store is branded as a department store with the exception of the Kailua location which has been branded as a clothing store. Another one of the 3 supermarkets that we are analyzing is Walmart. Walmart is known for their slogan, “Save Money, Live Better.” Unlike Target, Walmart doesnt sell their own brand of items. Walmart however is also known for their matching prices rule. Walmart agrees to match the price of any other store selling the same item if you bring in the add that shows the price. It is also one of the most popular stores on Oʻahu.
