Recently more consumers have been demanding organic foods; however the farmers are unable to keep up or afford to meet such demands. This is because farmers use organic corn and soybeans for feeding their cattle for organic meat and dairy it also talks about an increase in import to compensate .Given all of this the farmers are unable to afford to keep producing these food and meats. Next also notes how farmers are unable to increase production on the organic foods because too many are too skeptical to switch or buying more land is too expensive. This is because they need the food to produce organic meats and milk and it now is costing too much. The effect on foreign producers is positive however; since the production of organic corn and soybeans in other countries are higher they can export to America and sell the produce at a high price even though they have a high supply due to comparative advantage or simply because they produce more. From the perspective of the consumer it is also severe; this is because since there is low supply for the necessary items for the farmers organic meats and milk the price will go up in time. Most simply the rise in consumer demand is also bad for the consumer as it will now cost more but, if the demand is higher than the produce must be worth it. Prioritize the Arguments In the article many farmers wanted to switch crops over to corn and soybeans. The idea of having more farmers switch some crops to soybeans and corn is a good idea in the regard that it will allow the farmers to produce their own organic foods to sell domestically instead of importing and letting money leave the country. It is also good in the regard that it will lower the price for consumers and let farmers actually have the ability to produce the organics meats and milk. It can also be negative however, if they switch crops that the supply for those crops would decrease and the price would increase.
