Democracy plays a major role Americans’ everyday life. Democracy is a type of government where a person can stand up for what they believe in and not be scared. This form of government has helped with schools, health services, and infrastructures. However, Thailand, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are all third world countries that seem to have failed with this form of government. There are many key points to maintaining a strong democracy government for instance a government needs a strong military to enforce the law, and a separation of powers. The real question is what’s so important about this “democracy” and what does it truly mean? Well, “democracy” is defined as democracy is “a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections” (Merriam-Webster 's Learner 's Dictionary). Therefore, the people are included in the elections and by electing they are able to have a say in who they would like to become president. However, a democracy government is much more than that. It not only gives the people power over the government by majority rule, but it also gives the people freedom. The people here in the U.S. feel safe because here, everyone is equal regardless of race, gender, or their religious beliefs. Also, the people enjoy having a say or a voice in what is going on in their country. The people are the ones’ who benefit most from democracy,
