The Democratic party supports Obamacare (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act), providing everyone with quality and affordable health care. The Democratic party believes in assisting those in poverty, while working to rebuild the middle class. The Democratic party believes in improved financial aid for college tuition, creating more teaching jobs, and increasing options for low-income families. The Democratic party believes in lowering the military budget, and yielding nuclear weapon development.
However, the Republican Party is not as supported of illegal immigrants like the Democratic Party. According to the Republican Party “the interests of American workers must be protected over the claims of foreign nationals seeking the same jobs” (25). This statement ensures that Republicans do not consider foreigners’ problems a priority. They view foreigners as people who steal their jobs and disrupt the nation’s economy. In addition, The Republican party affirms “illegal immigration endangers everyone, exploits the taxpayers, and insults all who aspire to enter America legally” (25). Republicans view illegal aliens as unacceptable and need to be deported. They are concern for their safety and see them as a threat to the nation. Many republicans
For starters the Democratic Party supports gay marriage, abortions and supports the rights of gun ownership. They also agree to have higher tax rates and not many laws. With that said, there are many negative features that come with those privileges. For instance this party is basically showing that they are people pleasers, they do what the people want and don’t enforce their own strict
The Democratic Party of the 1800's believed in limited government and dreamed about an agrarian country. They believed freedom was about having control of their own lives, and not having the government interfere with their lives. Many saw it as the party of the working man. Jacksonian Democrats largely controlled the presidency years prior to Civil War. With a few losses to Whigs in the elections of the 1840's. These Democrats wanted further limitations of federal power, promoted state power, saw themselves as the party of the common man. This was appealing to the hard working man who wanted to find success in America. The party despised privilege and aristocratic behavior. They were against the banking industry and Northern industrialists.
In the past, the Democratic party was known as the conservative, traditional party that fully supported state government while the Republican party was a supporter of the federal government control. The Republican party began as “Lincoln’s party” which caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic party was predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views, they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties have changed their platforms based on the issues of desegregation, racism in the South and placement of federal government.
While watching the committee meetings between the Republican and Democrat party committee I noticed many things that were the same while also observing many things that were different. Every four years, the Democratic Party puts together our party platform, the ideas and beliefs that govern our party as a whole. Not only does each party take certain stances on specific issues , they also have a different guidelines and atmospheres surrounding them that affects their decisions. Republicans are normally more conservative, their primary focus is directed more towards a limited influence on government and a dominant foreign policy. They are also for religion, anti-beauracracy , and pro-military. As to where Democrats are considered to be more liberal and adhere to more improving the quality of people lives to achieve equality. Although there were a handful of things to pick from that were different with each party they were similar in how they incorporated their policy 's and laws. They both voted by raise of hands and saying "yay" or "neigh" to the topic.
“The modern Democratic Party is the descendant of the Democratic-Republican Party, an early-nineteenth-century political organization led by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Also known as the Jeffersonian Republican Party, the Democratic-Republican Party began as an antifederalist group, opposed to strong, centralized government. The party was officially established at a national nominating convention in 1832. It dropped the Republican portion of its name in 1840.” As stated in the free dictionary’s definition of the democratic party. The Democrat and Republican parties have differences as well as similarities such as their views on government decisions.
There has been lots of controversy on the issues concerning a solution to America’s broken immigration system. Democratic and republican parties can’t seem to agree with one another, leaving reform at a stand-still. Democrats are focused on giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship while Republicans are focused on border security. The fact is both of these approaches should work in unison with each other to provide the most efficient route in fixing immigration.
Government has been a paramount piece of the United States’s development after July 4, 1776. The role of government has been pivotal to the process of how America operates today. Government is an important part of America’s society because it protects individual rights of people. Government is a forever changing entity because it is a necessity to satisfy the people’s demands. As a political party, Democrats and Republicans have many views on different topics in America. Although the Democrats and Republicans may have different stances on modern issues in America, many of these politicians seem to have the same attitude toward changing policies on these issues/government. I believe that the democratic party is more appropriate party to represent the United States because of their philosophy. The traditional values of America needs to be altered and the democratic party represents the change that America needs. The democratic party best represents an ever-changing society by exemplifying the desires of the citizens as is apparent in their policies in regards to abortion, gun control, and same-sex marriage.
The Democratic party support illegal alien’s ability and rights to become citizens and giving them more securities under the law. They wish to restructure the immigration laws because they believe the United States was based on immigrants. The Democratic party stated that “today’s immigration laws do not reflect our values or serve our security, undocumented immigrants in our borders who clear a background check who work hard and pay taxes should have a way to earn full participation in America”.
Likewise, the Democratic perspective favors the DREAM ct. Which is, “The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, also called the DREAM Act, is a bill last introduced into Congress on March 26, 2009. Its purpose is to give undocumented students a chance at becoming permanent residents” (About 1). In other words, the Democratic perspective believes that immigrants, regardless of status, create the hegemony that the United States is. They value, education over immigration status. In consequence, Democrats promote and fight for the DREAM Act.
Under the watchful guidance of President Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party, America is finally moving in the right direction. In 1996, we, the Democratic Party, adopted and enacted a platform that has reinvigorated the
Democrats seem to be the party that is trying to solve the immigration issue here in the US. They have advocated hard for the passing of the DREAM Act, a legislation that I believe needs to and must be passed. I advocate it on the basis that the US economy really needs this; the potential the DREAM Act has in not just alleviating the immigration problem but also in helping revive an ailing economy. We need to finally reap the economic benefits of these undocumented immigrants that are in this country and likely here to stay. It is until I realized what the DREAM Act can do to the economy, is when I really began to see it as something that must happen fast.
After reading the article, I found that I was able to relate to the democratic views on education. The democrats are trying to make the public school system more successful and maintainable. They are also trying to “expand public school options for low income children and maintaining more magnet schools, charter schools, teacher-led schools, and career academics.” The
What was the ideology of the Democratic party? Individual liberty, limited government intervention and free market were among the most important tenants of the Democratic party. The welfare of the population was valued, therefore two liberal and still operating policies, Social Security and Medicare, came from Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal policy (Sidlow, 2013, p.16). They were believed to be necessary for the good
Growing up, my family had always been strictly Democratic with a conservative view here and there and it surely has influenced my political stance. Not only that but being a Democrat to me means being a humanitarian and genuinely having hope for the future of America and all its
