To rent in Jordan is 68.75% cheaper than to rent in the United States. A meal at a typical Jordanian restaurant costs an average of $6.35 per person in US dollars. An 11 ounce bottle of Coca Cola only costs $0.53 and one loaf of fresh white bread costs a meager $0.26. The average monthly Jordanian salary after taxes is 425 dinars. If someone wants to rent a one bedroom apartment outside of a main city, it would only cost them about 167 dinars. (Cost of Living in Jordan).

Transportation

The most common type of transportation, and the easiest for first time visitors, is the bus. The bus network is very extensive and caters to both inner and inter-city travel. There are private bus companies to choose from or public minibuses. The minibuses are a good choice because they tend to be able to reach more remote areas than the bigger, private buses do. Also available for transportation in Jordan, is the taxi. The first type of taxi is just a regular bright yellow taxi that can be flagged down on the side of the rode. These are similar to the taxis that one might see in New York City. The other type of taxi is called a serve and is a shared taxi. They are more expensive than the buses and minibuses but also much faster. Tips of around 10% are appreciated but not mandatory. Renting a car is also another option a visitor to Jordan has at their disposal.
