Demonstrative Speech Greco-Roman Wrestling was introduced as an olympic sport in the very first Olympics in 1896 in Athens Greece. In Greco-Roman Wrestling you are unable to touch your opponents legs or use your own legs to try and score or by trying to prevent your opponent from scoring on you. For this specific style of wrestling, throws are emphasized and occur in almost every match. What I have found the most usitile for success in this style is to use the move known as the “Head Lock”. To begin this move you will need a landing mat. Without a landing mat this move could be dangerous and you could get banged up fairly easily. Since this is a wrestling move there are not many materials required because in wrestling all you need are wrestling shoes and a singlet. The reason I chose this move is because in my experience in wrestling Greco, this has been my go to move for success. I was able to get 1st and 2nd in state all because of this move. This move is very good because if you successfully do this move, you will get four points and a chance to pin your opponent. If you are able to pin your opponent, the match is over and you win no matter the score.

Not many wrestlers go for throws often so my style of throws very often is unique in today’s day of age and allowed me to get wins over very good wrestlers that were not comfortable with wrestling in a risky style along with me. Throws are very high risk and very high reward. They can make someone losing a match 0-9 come back in one move and get a pin resulting in a win, and I feel like the headlock is the best move for these kind of positions.
