Many invaluable experiences helped me decide my path to dentistry, starting from my swim competition, to voluntary activity, and to a dental assistant. I became captivated by healthcare professional careers ever since I realized that it involve creativity, technical and scientific expertise and helping others. I was pursuing a career that will make me feel satisfied, challenged and rewarded, then I concluded, the dentistry was a great fit. From my first swimming competition, I gained an inexplicable satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. I was swimming like it was a matter of life and death until my hands hit the wall. Then I felt like a fish out of the water as I was gasping for breath. There are no words to describe the amount …show more content…
Lee. I enjoy all hands-on experiences, learning new knowledge, and witnessing many different treatments. Strangely, I felt the same unexplainable satisfaction and joy that I gained from swimming competitions. Furthermore, assisting the patients with dementia and disabilities have aroused my compassion. One of the patients was a senior woman who diagnosed with dementia. She was urgently needed the dentures as she lost almost all of her teeth due to periodontal disease. I had trouble communicating with her as she seemed so wary and upset when she first came into the clinic. However, after her several office visits, she recognized me as her granddaughter and often brought me candies. I couldn't be any happier when I finally saw her with a white and a well-arranged teeth and with a big, satisfied grin on her face. I can say that dental services can be challenging, but I can also say that it is a rewarding career which will bring me a great achievement. This experience positively affected me in a significant way and helped me to develop effective communication skills with patients to prepare for my career in …show more content…
I conceived that whatever I do in the future, it has to involve with helping other people. If I ask someone why they work and what makes them choose a career, most will say for to earn money. Money is essential for life; however, that is not the first goal of my life. I want to choose a career that gives me a sense of achievement. Every morning, I want to wake up excited to go to work with a passion and purpose, utilize my creative skill in working with hands, and help people in need. This is my goal and also my desire and is stronger than the money, fame or personal gain. I have a strong desire to spend my life volunteering people in my community who cannot pay to go see a dentist and for the people in developing countries who have never had the privilege of seeing a dentist. For the past years, I have served as a volunteer to support people with mental and learning disabilities. It was not so easy to interact with several different types of people with different disorders. However, I have learned something more than I could ever imagine. I learned to respect differences in people, appreciate the value of good health, and the little things in
I choose Dental Hygienist as a career for a variety of reasons such as education, interest, salary, schedule, and social interaction. Caring for others and their personals needs is something I am good at. I enjoy interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds, and with this career I am given the opportunity to do this every day. I have always been interested in teeth, and how oral care impacts the overall health, self-esteem, and confidence. A few years ago I got braces on my top and bottom teeth. Throughout the four years I was having my teeth treated I became even more fascinated with teeth. I met Cecile Nguyen who was the Dental Hygienist at the dental office I was going to at the time, she was always so kind, educative and very
Theoretically, it takes ten thousand hours of deliberate practice to become an expert in any field. I intend on not only dedicating approximately nine hours a day for the three years, that I hope to spend at Newcastle University, but the rest of my working life in the dental industry. I have researched and shadowed a dental hygienist therapist and I firmly believe they are an invaluable asset to the dental care team. I would thrive from the independence and clinical freedom to work, within the scope of practice, on a one to one level with patients. I believe I can make a difference, particularly building the confidence of sporadic and nervous attendees adhering to a holistic and preventative approach.
A career in healthcare has always been an interest of mine. Making a difference is someone?s health was a special aspect of my career choice. Dental Hygiene has been top of the list since I was a younger child. I was one of those children who loved going to the dentist. I was always intrigued by what was going on in the dentist office, whether it be the dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant. Becoming a young adult and noticing the appearance of others, the smile was and still is the first thing I notice on another individual. Everyone does not have the beautiful smile that society expects; so being the one to improve that and make a difference I feel is an awesome career choice.
tement My passion for to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy has developed over the past few years, where I trained as a dental nurse and supported the dental professionals, which piqued my interest in dentistry and the education around it. I am conscious of the importance of the hygienist’s role in maintaining patient’s dental health and ensuring that that the oral conditions are attended too. The hygienists job is mainly to prevent disease though advice, therapy and treatment; professionals and patients can usually see the immediate difference after a few visits and from this treatment, patient’s wellbeing and health can also be improved from the actions of a hygienist.
"Caring for others" and "Health is wealth" are few of the most incredible things I was taught since childhood. I have been quite fortunate to grow up in a joint family, where I learned virtues and importance of serving others. At age of 15, I was inspired to become a caretaker of my grandfather, who was suffering from chronic illness. He always wanted me to become a healthcare worker, but he passed away after unbearable suffering before he could see me fulfilling his dream. Also recently my mother has been diagnosed with few serious health issues including high cholesterol and blood pressure.

I was later awarded the honor. It is in times of struggle and great adversity I find myself rising to the occasion with the challenges set before me. With admission to a physician’s assistant program I plan on taking leadership not only in the classroom, but also in the community to serve the public in a way that doesn’t just treat the patient’s biomedical symptoms, but perhaps more importantly their entire self as a human being calling upon their biological, psychological, and social needs to treat their condition. My expectation as a physician’s assistant is to influence every patient in a way that when the patient leaves my office, the patient is educated not only about their physical ailment, but psychologically prepared and aware of the necessary steps towards wellbeing. Furthermore, I take pride in assisting patients by integrating their illness and treatment into their life as I demonstrated in my undergrad senior dissertation on
Over the past two years since I started working as a dental assistant at Kidwell and Albus Dentistry, watching and learning from the doctors, hygienists and assistants as well as helping them. I have realized that there is a lot of joy, and satisfaction when I help the patients improve their dental hygiene and provide the best service possible along with my coworkers. I have gained a lot of experience about what the job entails, the benefits, drawbacks, and ultimately concluded that dental hygienist is the career path that I want to pursuit at this moment in my life, mainly because of three reasons which are professional fulfillment, financial stability, and time flexibility.
Every little girl wants to be a princess, at an early age I wanted to be a doctor. 10 years later, that passion I had is still here. Throughout my high school years, I’ve gained certifications, became CPR certified, and joined HOSA (Health Club) through the academy. But it wasn’t until I began volunteering at my local dental office, that I got my calling, teeth. I plan on attending Florida’s International University; the campus is beautiful as well as their programs
My whole life, it has been apparent to those around me that I would be a dentist. I am highly inquisitive, passionate, compassionate, experienced, and I love teeth. I remember getting so excited to have my teeth cleaned as a child because my trips to the dentist were so much fun! At a young age, my mother instilled the importance of oral hygiene care. To this day, I wonder if it was the dentist, dental hygienist, or just the dental office ambiance that had me engaged as a young child. Almost immediately after graduating high school, I went to school to become a registered dental assistant and at that point, I figured out that I possess good manual dexterity, which is a fundamental skill to be efficient in the dental field. At the same time, I unlocked the key to my calling, passion. Six years later, I realized I had the potential to
Being in the field has solidified my love for the profession, taught me how to handle various situations, and has brought out my passion for one-on-one patient care. I already envision myself going above and beyond for patients because I am so devoted to doing that now as dental
Dentistry offers the ability to apply my interests in science whilst having the opportunity to communicate with people and to make a positive contribution in their lives. I developed my interest in dentistry during my regular check-ups where I got to know my dentist and build up a relationship with them. I believe that with my dedication and work ethic alongside my extensive volunteering, I have the ability to become a reputable dentist. An aspect of dentistry that I enjoy is the ‘hands on’ experience obtained and the teamwork involved alongside the mentally and physically challenging demands of the profession.
Growing up as a child I always wanted to a Dentist but through the many paths that life offers, I have taken a few unplanned paths. After attending a four-year university on a softball scholarship and receiving degrees in Exercise Science which covered most of the requirements for dental schools, a Business degree with the plan of owning my own office one day, and a degree in Public Health to have a broad basis of needs and approaches for the general public. Following my bachelor’s degree, I set out and completed the remaining requirements for dental school as well as three lengthy internships within the dental field. During my time interning under a dental hygienist, a dentist, and a dental surgeon, I was able to confirm what I once thought
After taking care of my children and teaching them for more than 12 years as well as earning my GED in October 2013, I finally had the chance to go to college for the first time in my life at the young age of 40. Besides being a first generation immigrant, I also became the first of my father’s ten children to attend college when I registered as a student at Wayne County Community College in January 2014. After earning my Associates Degree in Science in May of 2016 and my Pharmacy Tech Certificate in August of 2016, as well as my Central Service Tech Certificate in May of 2017 I still have two main goals to accomplish in the next 2 years as a student at WCCCD: 1) Earn admission into WCCCD Dental Hygienist Program by July 2017 – application
The idea of being a dentist never left the forefront of my mind. I loved the thought of dentistry because of the opportunity it presents to teach, comfort, and care for others. I want to practice and live in rural Minnesota, an area currently underserved, getting to know my patients on a personal level. I believe partnering or someday owning my own practice would enable me to create a place healthy and fun for kids to visit and a pleasant experience for the adults as well. I know not everyone enjoys his or her visit to the dentist. However, my social maturity will be a great asset as I pay forward the respectful comforting environment my dentist offered me. I want to pay forward and echo the great chairside manner which impacted my
