"Caring for others" and "Health is wealth" are few of the most incredible things I was taught since childhood. I have been quite fortunate to grow up in a joint family, where I learned virtues and importance of serving others. At age of 15, I was inspired to become a caretaker of my grandfather, who was suffering from chronic illness. He always wanted me to become a healthcare worker, but he passed away after unbearable suffering before he could see me fulfilling his dream. Also recently my mother has been diagnosed with few serious health issues including high cholesterol and blood pressure. At that time I felt that if I knew more about the body then I could have helped her before she had to face serious health issues. That was the biggest source of inspiration for me to become a part of healthcare world and devote myself to help others. I am very pleased to achieve my primary goal after becoming a successful Dental Hygienist (RDH). During my few last visits to my doctor's clinic, I have been mostly diagnosed and treated by Physician Assistant (PA). Some of my earlier conversations with PA about …show more content…
My first real job experience, working as a Dental Assistant, is still imprinted on my mind. It felt so god on my first of the job and my happiness rose a million time when I received my first paycheck. I also did volunteer work at the same clinic during my spare time since I loved working with the patients. After becoming RDH, I have got a breakthrough working with a very diligent dentist. It is a new learning curve working as a RDH. Meanwhile I found another job near to my place, through Dr. Sampat's kind reference. I am still working at the same clinic with another amazing dentist. In the event of any appointment cancellation, I assist him as well and of course observe him getting his work done. All these experiences kept adding more and more interest in me to become a successful
Dermatologists are specialized physicians that treat diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. They can perform a variety of procedures such as biopsies, acne scar removal (dermabrasion), hair restoration surgery, collagen injections, chemical peels and fat transfers. They can work in hospitals, clinics and private practices and usually require referrals from your primary care physician for public access. A Dental Hygienist may refer directly to Dermatologists when there is a significant finding on the extra-oral exam, especially in cases of cancerous or pre-cancerous abnormalities in the skin; however, it is more common for the Dental Hygienist to refer to the primary care physician, who will then refer to the dermatologist. Dental hygienists play an important role in the dental care facilities since they apply their knowledge on every case by removing tartar, stains, and plaque from teeth. They are in charge of applying sealants and fluorides to the teeth in order to protect them, they take and develop x-rays which helps them determine the patient 's vocal health and then present all this information through a report for the dentists to see. Once they have documented the patient 's care, they begin a treatment plan for each patient. They also educate their patients about the oral health and techniques they should apply and how to brush and floss the teeth accurately. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016-17, p.2) Dental hygienists apply critical thinking, compassion towards their patients, interpersonal skills, and dexterity while on their jobs and are supposed to be very detail oriented since they work on small parts of the body and need precise use of the tolls. tement My passion for to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy has developed over the past few years, where I trained as a dental nurse and supported the dental professionals, which piqued my interest in dentistry and the education around it. I am conscious of the importance of the hygienist’s role in maintaining patient’s dental health and ensuring that that the oral conditions are attended too. The hygienists job is mainly to prevent disease though advice, therapy and treatment; professionals and patients can usually see the immediate difference after a few visits and from this treatment, patient’s wellbeing and health can also be improved from the actions of a hygienist.
After graduation, I plan on working for a modern pediatric dental practice close to home. I am seeking to work for a dental facility with an average paying job possession for a registered dental hygienist. The benefits I am mostly interested in are 2 weeks of paid vacation leave, health insurance, free dental services for my immediate family and I, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Also, I am seeking for a facility that is all electronic, paperless, and that has advanced dental equipment preferably from 8am-4pm. The area I plan to work in is the Jonesboro, Georgia area so I can work close to home.
For my senior project I have explored the career of a Dental Hygienist, who is a licensed dental professional who is registered with a dental care association within their country of practice. Their duty is to clean teeth, examine patients for signs and symptoms of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide other preventive dental care. They also educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral cavity health. Dental hygienist occupation has many important aspects to their job, which makes it a very rewarding occupation. According to my research dental hygienists is one of the top career choices in America, being so, over the years the career has evolved into a high demanding occupation.
"If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door." -Milton Berle There is rarely an opportunity given to to you in life. Most of the time you create the opportunity for your self. I as a student of Youth Entrepreneur, I have realized nothing is given to you. When creating a business that you will own, you will be on your own, and will need to find help or research how to do it.
It is evident that it is truly where my head, heart and hands, become one. Being a dental hygienist and working in close proximity with the dentist has served to strengthen my desire to take my education and service to the next level. I want to increase my knowledge about the science behind dentistry and learn everything I need to know to be a great dentist and apply it into practice. Improve constantly and strive to provide the highest quality of oral health care available to patients by delivering meticulous, gentle, thorough, reassuring dentistry and exceeding patient satisfaction. Dentistry without a doubt, is the profession for me. I believe I have the qualities that are essential to making a great dentist along with the academic motivation in order to replace my interest for dentistry with the expertise that will help me provide quality oral care. If my greatest aspirations are to provide pain relief, to develop patient rapport, and utilize creativity in working with my hands, then dentistry is, indeed, my
Ever wonder why your dentist doesn’t actually clean your teeth? It’s cause that’s the job of the dental hygienist. They are specialist at keeping your teeth and gums healthy and clean. My goal of becoming a dental hygienist will soon come to pass. All I need is dedication, motivation, ambition, and understanding. The hands-on approach and the opportunity to work in the dental lab were excellent. In the beginning, I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing, but I received plenty of help from my peers and overcame my fears.
This was what pushed me to proceed and never look back. I look forward into the life I have ahead of me knowing my aspirations of dentistry will improve my life as well as the life of others. This passion is what inspired me to mature young and realize the potential that knowledge brings. This also was what made me realize I want to help people and their community. I want to be someone who can bring a smile to their faces.
My dream job is to be a dental hygienist and has been the same since I was a little girl. I have an interest in how health can affect one’s body. I would like to educate others how important it is to keep your body, including teeth, healthy and clean. To see people who have not cleaned their teeth in years compared to people who are able to see the dentist every six months, is a drastic difference. Some people may think it does not matter, but lack of dental care actually takes a toll on your health. I want to peruse this career to help other’s think. I will enjoy helping other people by showing them the importance of keeping their teeth cleaned. Contrary to popular belief, a tooth brush does not do all the work, that is also why it is so important to have a dentist to make sure you are getting the cleaning you need to stay healthy. Another reason why I want to pursue this career is I work best in an oriented atmosphere. Making sure people are comfortable with where they are and make sure the patients are taken care of. Creates a very friendly environment. That is why my passion is a dental hygienist.
It has been a good experience because I had chance to work in different dental offices, which exposed me to different levels of adjustments made in dental offices to contemporary dentistry. For example, some dental offices have new digital x- rays systems while others have conventional x-ray. Majority of dental offices are paperless, all patients data is computerized while some are still use paper charts to write visited dental patient information.
