I would say that I agree that people nowadays depend on computers too much. Firstly, computers controlled cars, planes, ships and other vehicles, so that we can travel safely.

However, computer affects human health if human spend most of their time facing the computer. When we are asked whether we face the computer most of the time, most of us choose to deny or ignore it because we are scared to admit it. Denial or ignorance is a type of resistance. In a research, people are highly exposed to health risks as they spend most of their time sitting in front of the computers to get their work done. The essay “How Computers Change the Way We Think” was written by Sherry Turkle, a well-known professor at MIT. Professor Turkle teaches Social Studies of Science and Technology, and she has written nine books and multiple essays on the relationship between humans and technology today. The thesis of Turkle’s essay is that the technology used to help humans work/think has started changing the way people think, and will continue to if there is no change. Overall, Turkle’s essay is very well-written, and has an important warning for all to heed: there are many negative consequences of the technology used by humans on a daily
“Computers have had an unbelievably positive impact on society. Due to the advancement of computers, space exploration took place, vehicles were designed differently, the entertainment world became more entertaining, and medical science made more cures for diseases. The computers impacted society in many ways. Life became instantaneously easier. Some people say that computers are taking away manpower, and that may be true, but computers did make the impossible possible. Business uses computers for keeping track of accounts, money, and inventory. Another area the computer impacted is the entertainment world. Computers made it possible to enhance graphics and special effects. Education has transformed due to current day usage of the computer in the classroom. Computers help students in any way they need, including researching, typing, and searching. Teachers use computers as well. They use computers to keep track of grades, type out instruction for their students, engage students in the classroom, and stay in contact with parents and co-workers. The advancement of the computer has affected the medical profession as well. According to educator and author, Edwin Dolan,” calculations necessary to medical research are being done by computers at astonishing rates of speed, a procedure that is increasing the likelihood of finding cures for serious illness.” Computers are used to help perform surgeries, come up with new medications, keep track of patients, and
Technology has advanced far greater than we can imagine and changed our lives without us even knowing it. Tom Clancy, an American novelist says, "It was one thing to use computers as a tool, quite another to let them do your thinking for you." This means that we have fully become slaves to our electric gadgets. According to this wisdom, our brain instantly jumps to Google whenever we need an answer for something and we never have to figure out anything ourselves. Moreover, statistics show that 83% of the population agree that people have become overly dependent on technology and this has affected our lives greatly.
It is undeniable fact that the advent of new technologies-- most importantly computers and robots -- is a significant breakthrough in the new century, to change lives of human beings for the best. The fact of the matter is that variety of them already came into people lives which made that easier, faster, and reliable than that of past-- to name but a few. The more they use new technologies, the more they will become addicted to them, and the less they give it a try to learn skills or anything they are in need of. While someone believes that these changes have a positive effect on humans’ lives, and others believe otherwise. I, personally, subscribe to the latter idea on the grounds that, although the new technologies bring a high standard of comfort for people’s lives, its demerits definitely outweigh its merits. Having said that, I mean, when we used computers or robots for ease of our lives, we did not expect once we would be supplanted by them, as automated machine do the job allocated to humans more perfectly with less cost and time.
A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information or data. It is used in many different works, it has the ability to store, retrieve and process data. It is used for typing documents, sending emails, playing games and browsing the Web. (GCF, 2014) The computer makes the life of human easier; it makes our work hastily be done.
Again, I think computers are amazing and great to have around. They make things so much easier, however, we are in trouble if one day they all crash...although, I guess in the same since, paper can burn...
Modern life is virtually dependent on computers and these points to the huge impacts computers have on modern life. Computers are used in many different areas such as in business, design, medicine, military amongst other a multifunctional roles. One of the greatest leaps in development of human beings has been because of the widespread usage of computers. In fact, the computer is the single greatest piece of technology in the 20th century and as such, they have been associated with certain social impacts. Modern life has borne the brunt of the benefits and negative impacts the usage of computers have impacted the world. The social impacts have been magnanimous across a variety of aspects such as; health, communication, social
There are many positive outcomes to working with computers on a daily basis. Having access to a huge array of resources with a click of a button (World Wide Web), being able to conveniently store large amounts of data in digital form and using a machine that can process millions of things per second are just a few of these benefits. However, these positives can come at a price. As technology has improved and become more accessible, so has our reliance of it. More people own a personal computer now than ever before. A study conducted in America (Acute Computer-Related Injuries Treated in U.S. Emergency Departments, 1994-2006) showed that computer related
Technology is changing so quickly that a skill or job that was relevant yesterday could be taken by a machine tomorrow. People may wonder, will robots take over every job and will humans become irrelevant. Computers have helped people in many ways correcting human error while writing, or saving time and money by helping to do simple tasks easier and more efficiently. Think about banks or automotive assembly lines these have been replaced by machines. You can now deposit checks and manage money with your phone, people that once used to build vehicles now are replaced by machines. It is not because people were doing these jobs the wrong way it's that technology can do jobs faster without human error.
Some people may say that the world does not rely too much on computers. I do agree that computers have done some wonderful things. They make it to where deployed soldiers can see their children and wives from anywhere as long as they have a web cam, advanced computer-based systems are used to examine delicate organs of the body. Some of the complex surgeries can be performed with the aid of computers, but I feel that the bad outweighs the good. People that don’t agree with me don’t think about the children that spend so much time on the computer that their grades start dropping at school, the children that fall prey to pedophiles, or the children that commit suicide over cyber bullying. Those people don’t think about the people that get their identity stolen right out from underneath them.
Is our society too dependent on computers? I, like many Americans today, have become reliant on the usage of computers. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of convenience. Computers are a part of our everyday lives whether we like it or not. They make simple tasks much easier and allow us to strive to our full potential. However over the years, computers have become much more than a tool but necessary part of our lives. They have replaced almost every important contrivance humans have. Today computers replace the way we conduct our academic research, supply our food, keep businesses competitive and maintain our military superiority. Computers are not being used as
