Hi Emily, we learned through this video how Derek Paravicini a blind and autistic young man could overcome his impairments and become an extraordinary pianist player. In my opinion, several important factors contributed to his success. Adam Ockelford (his long-term piano instructor) explains on how Derek got to where he is today. He emphasizes that Derek possesses innate talent, and that he starts training when he was a very small kid. Above all, I believe that his nanny's care, takes a big lump of his success. Who knows that because Nanny sings by changing register - (Derek that a perfect pitch) - was she undoubtedly one of the reasons of his fantastic

He was thought to be smart, having invented the first dissolvable hockey puck, which was great for planet Earth and recycling, but not-so-good when hockey games went into overtime, the puck often melting onto the ice before the game was over. His inventor-phase was short-lived.

Three police officers were charged but only two went to trial. In the end, two of the police officers were fired — the third never made it to trial because he had committed suicide. Davis was compensated for the assault.

When North East Ohio Medical University sponsored a student led project, BetheBeautifulU was formed. Our campaign’s goal is to expose social media’s negative effect on teenage self-esteem due to its focus on Eurocentric standards of beauty. BetheBeautifulU’s purpose was to confront Cleveland's high school issues with self-esteem hidden within high school culture. We came up with numerous topics, like body positivity, but the one that was deeply anchored in our school was colorism. Colorism in Cleveland school districts and the media perpetuates the idea that lighter skinned people are more beautiful and most accepted compared to dark skin people. In the second chapter of this dissertation it will focus on the work of Manchester born and black artist Chris Ofili. Most known for his experimentation with elephant dung, Ofili communicates a humorous and rather stereotypical reaction to how an African man ‘should’ be painting, “You don’t exist, unless you start to build yourself up, and start to work” (Ofili 2010). There was much comment about Ofili becoming the first black contemporary artist whose name and work was known to a wider British public.
Giovanni Gabrieli was a legendary composer of the 16th century. As the fundamental structure and ideas of the Catholic Church were being challenged by the Protestant Reformation and the Counter-Reformation, Gabrieli’s compositions were given the opportunity to be successful and influential to music in the coming centuries. His works helped to transform not only church music of the Catholic Church, but also secular music as well. Giovanni Gabrieli wrote significant works that ultimately shaped the rise of the symphony, including the development of purely instrumental works, the art of orchestration, and the concerto style. Without his innovations in composition, it is arguable that instrumental music would not have developed as quickly, or developed
As I review the 60 minutes interview with Derek Paravicini I found out he is an interesting young man. He was born blind and with a severe learning disability, due to his birth being very premature, at just 25 weeks.
