My favorite constellation is Andromeda. Not only is this constellation prominent during my favorite season, fall, the story of Andromeda is fascinating. Andromeda is one of the 88 modern constellations and one of 48 listed by the 2nd century Greco-Roman astronomer Ptolemy. Andromeda is one of the largest constellations having an area of 722 square degrees. A notable feature for Andromeda would be the deep-sky object Andromeda galaxy which is the closest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way. The queen of Ethiopia, Cassiopeia bragged about the beauty of her daughters beauty saying she was more beautiful then the Nereids or sea nymphs. The sea nymphs heard what Cassiopeia had said and were offended. They took to Poseidon an asked him to punish …show more content…
She was young, smart and beautiful, the most beautiful in all the world. Making friends was always hard as other girls were jealous of her beauty. Running away seemed to be the best option and so one day she left without saying goodbye to anyone. She traveled for days and days before she found a new town. Hoping she could make it her new home Andromeda tried to make the best of the situation. To her surprise the girls there were worse than the ones back home. They started calling her names and throwing things at her out of pure jealousy. One night while Andromeda was fast asleep a group of the towns girls grabbed her and tied her up to a tree in hopes a wild creature or monster would find her and destroy her beauty. Two days Andromeda was tied to that tree and fear had quickly found her, every sound she was sure would be the last thing she heard. On the third evening a young man appeared in front of her, Perseus. Freeing her and taking her away with him they married and had a large family. Upon Andromeda's death Perseus felt he needed to find a way to honor her for lifetimes to come. Seeking out anyone who could help he cast her up in the stars so she can always look down on us and so she can forever be

The Andromeda Constellation is located in the northern hemisphere, it can be seen at latitudes between +90°and -40° and is best visible at 9 p.m. during the month of November. The constellation is, also, home to the Andromeda Galaxy, that resides 2,5 light-years from earth. This constellation is beyond complex, for the myth that names it, as well for being next doors neighbors with it's galaxy, thus my interest in it.
My Favorite Constellation is Hercules. Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1225 square feet in the sky. I've chosen this constellation because I quite enjoy the Greek myth behind it.
In the myth, Cassiopeia, Andromeda's mother, was extremely proud of Andromeda's beauty. Cassiopeia was so vain and proud that she pronounced her daughter more beautiful than the Nereids. The Nereids were sea nymphs who were known for their beauty. They were not happy with Cassiopeia's remark, and asked Poseidon to punish her. As Cassiopeia was the Queen of Ethiopia at the time, Poseidon sent a sea monster to attack her country.
I have decided to speak of Andromeda, which has an interesting history for my taste and has many interesting facts, for example "Pegaso" shares with the contelacion star Cassiopeia and Cepheus, Kings of Ethiopia were the parents of Andromeda. The Queen Cassiopeia boasted of the beauty of his daughter, and likened it to the Nereids, daughters of the God of the sea Poseidon. Sea goddesses, in response to this affront, Poseidon demanded revenge and it was like this sent a sea monster (Cetus) to destroy the coasts of the country. Cepheus went to the Oracle of Zeus who advised him as the only way to calm the anger of the gods and get rid of the monster was sacrificing his daughter Andromeda attaching it to a rock on the cliff so that the Monster
King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia were the parents of Andromeda. The Queen was very vain because she was so beautiful . Cassiopeia and her daughter were more beautiful than the nymphs the followed Poseidon on his journey’s. Eventually Poseidon wanted to punish the Queen because of how vain she was, so he sent a sea monster named Cetus to destroy the city the Queen and King ruled over named Aethiopeia. The King and Queen got anxious and nervous but decided that instead of having their city destroyed they would sacrifice their daughter Andromeda instead.
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a topic that is frequently unspoken of however; it affects thousands of individuals on a daily basis and is especially important in the field of Social Work. In order to best discuss IPV, a mutual definition is needed. According to the CDC, “The term “intimate partner violence” describes physical violence, sexual violence, stalking and psychological aggression (including coercive acts) by a current or former intimate partner (Intimate Partner Violence: Definitions, 2017). Even though this definition broadly identifies the behaviors that can be categorized under this form of violence, the etiology of IPV is much more complicated. Some of the complexities of IPV are displayed through out the movie Tyler Perry's Madea's
The myth is that Cassiopeia, Andromeda's mother was telling everybody that her daughter was the most beautiful person ever created and that she was even more beautiful then the gods themselves. Naturally, that upset the gods, mostly Poseidon, because he thought he had made the most beautiful women in the world and those
I have chosen to use the constellation Andromeda. I chose it, because I did not know much about it and enjoyed doing a bit of research over this particular constellation. The constellation Andromeda was first catalogued by Ptolemy. It’s the nineteenth biggest constellation and the brightest start is Alpheratz.
I have chosen the Perseus Constellation. I chose that contallation because I have always liked the Greek Gods mythology. Perseus, named after the Greek Mythology hero, is a constellation in the Northen Sky. Perseus is bordered by Aries and Taurus to the south, Auriga to the east, Camelopardalis and Cassiopeia to the north, and Andromeda and Triangulum the west.
I follow him from above watching his journey across the deep, dark and dangerous sea. I watch as Poseidon releases a storm over the wine dark sea that he rules. He does not approve of the other god's decision to let Odysseus go home. Poseidon watches as his storm rips apart Odysseus’ small raft and I watch in horror as he is whisked into the sea. I stare in awe as a sea nymph saves the great Odysseus with a powerful veil and he washes ashore only to be saved by another women. A beautiful, women from the palace. I see this other women, and in fury I leave because I know he no longer will remember our great times on my island, but he will now create new memories as quick as the fastest man can run and Odysseus will soon forget me, the nymph with lovely braids,
My favorite constellation by far is the Gemini constellation. The Gemini constellation is my favorite because my star sign is Gemini. And it is fairly easy to spot in the night sky, although the best viewing month is in February.
Andromeda is the name of my country. It is 150 miles from the nearest land. My subjects have been debating on which religion our country should have. I believe that we should have religious freedom because everyone deserves the right to worship what they believe in, my people should not have to worship what they don’t believe in, and my people will not have to fight over which religion they want.
There must be a strange feeling Moses experiences and I’m sure he probably did feel inadequate to this great task. Many of us would have questioned God in his choice. Look at “Moses as he says that, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. Does this sound like something you may of been through, I have and I’m sure you may of you felt the same way also? Moses is like many of us, caught in our feelings and emotions and leaning on them in a critical time in our life.
As I reflect on the path that lead me to enroll at Colorado Christian University, my mind is like a kaleidoscope with pictures of past events flashing through my mind.
