The idea of observation in children is very important, because that what children do they observe. To help think, sort or identity, kids use their eyes as well as the other senses. From their youngest moments children are attracted to shapes. Beaty stated “children need to observe the things they are interested in and to express their feelings in the graphic language of drawing”. The first shape they may be attracted to is oval, circular objects because that what they see first, they see their mother’s round, oval face. Children can draw from what they have seen. If one asks a child to look at a picture, or object, they will draw it how they can saw it. The ides of art are sometimes or if not often, seen as a way as express ones emotions with
Describe the locations where you conducted observations and how much time was spent observing at each site: who was there, what were they doing, when and where did you observe, how was it being conducted. Briefly describe the people and setting at each site.
I observed in the preschool class for two hours, there were a total of 12 children in the class Most of the kids that are in the preschool class were four years old, but there was one five year old. When I first arrived at the preschool, the kids seemed very shy towards me and they did not seem like they were very sociable. I was a stranger to them, and I would have to guess that all of the children were experiencing a little bit of stranger anxiety. I talked to the teacher about how the children reacted to all “strangers” She said that the children often become very uneasy. As I sat down to observe the children, I noticed one thing right away. The boys in the group were very wild and rambunctious, and the girls seemed to be shy and
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/6/2016. I arrived at the operation which is located at 3422 Richmond Rd, Texarkana about 12:57 pm. I was greeted by Comekia Island, the person in charge while director was at lunch. I handed her business card and then explained the purpose of my inspection and reviewed the subchapters I would be observing. Roshonda Epps the director arrived approximately a hour later. When Epps arrived I handed her business card and then explained the purpose of my inspection and reviewed the subchapters I would be observing.
This report is based on a “Systematic Observation” (Berk, 2003, p.44). I designed a simple form to record the data based on specimen record and event sampling in which the
Age: I would look at the 3-4/PreK class rooms because the text describes how in early development children are just learning how to have friends and by the age of 3-4 or in preschool, they are starting to develop more gender bias and wanting to be with peers that are “like them”
This study is intended to document my observation of a child between the ages of 2-5. The small child I observed is a 4 years old male. Family arrangements consist of the mother being the primary caregiver of her son. Since the child is not old enough to consent to my amateur study, I have received permission from the mother and father. The method used in this clinical report is a naturistic observation in which I went to the family’s household where I recorded his behavior for an hour.
Leroy is a 2nd grade African American student at Martin Luther King Elementary School. He is 8 years old and lives with his mother and two older brothers. His favorite school subject is math. He likes to play video games and basketball, especially when he is playing with his friends. Leroy’s favorite holiday is Christmas, for he gets to visit his grandma and enjoy all the delicious foods that his mom and grandma cook. When asked where would he go if he can go anywhere, he responded with Skate Park. He likes to skate around the park with his brothers. Leroy wishes to be like his older brother when he grows up.
Teachers are aware of what they should do in the classroom when teaching young children. Teachers should provide opportunities to develop positive dispositions toward learning when working with young children to make sure they are using their knowledge and skills. Teaching young children, the skills that need to learn about is the big key of understanding what the information that you will need when you are assessing the young children. In this paper, the reader will read about observation and documentation as assessment and why is it important? The reader will also read about the difference between looking at and authentically or genuinely observing a child, the types of documentation, two types of documentation that relate how teachers use the documentation in the classroom and how documentations would be useful as assessments.
The child I observed was a seven-year-old girl in Year 2 who sat on the second highest ability table in a mixed class. While not in school, she lived a substantial distance away meaning she travelled to and from school by car and was often the first child to arrive in the morning and the last to leave in the afternoon. I will focus on the social and emotional development of this child who, from now onwards, will be referred to as C.
Based on the last phase of the assessment, Chance was exhausted and tired. The assessment appeared to be rush due to the deadline based on the transition of the children’s services to Trading Space. I honestly feel that this report should have been completed a few months for comparison when Chance started services with Chance and compare it to where he is now. I am disappointed with the errors made:
Child development is an amazing thing to watch in the way that children interact with one another and how they perceive the world that surrounds. While doing our research of child development we began to observe a group of kids ranging the ages 1 – 12. During these observations we noticed traits such as attachment, comfort, and love. Through the following examples we will proceed to observe development in our environment and explain its relativity to the text
Subject “Chris” is a 7 year old middle class Caucasian male. Observation is taking place in the child’s home over the course of two separate afternoons. Chris is a friendly and well spoken child who is small for his age. Chris is the youngest child in his family and both observations take place while his siblings are home. In each case one or both parents are absent.

For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose ages range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and development to test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my observations I watched two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were ages eighteen to twenty. Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I watched the children as they played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center on campus. On this day, I watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as they played. One of the little girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink
