Describe The Relationship Between Anne Frank And The Van Daan

During world war two there was over 30,000 labor camps and many other camps jews were forcefully taken to by Hitler's Nazis armies. Many families ended up killed because of these camps. Jewish families started to hide from Hitler and the Naizs to try to stay away from these kinds of camps. Anne Frank’s family and the Van Daan’s went into hiding together for over two years. As time passes, many historical events that occurred outside the annex influenced the moods and relationships of the characters. Anne and Peter have come a long way from the beginning of the story. When Anne and Peter met in the secret annex I’m sure they never thought they would become as close as they were. They started out not liking each other and calling eachother names, “...How you talked so much in class they called you Mrs.Quack Quack…” (Hackett 116), but in the end they ended up liking each other. They were so fond of each other they ended up falling in love. This just shows what living in confinement can do to the relationships you have with people. …show more content…

Even though I’m sure they still love each other, they don't like each other as much. When they moved into the secret annex they didn’t have a strong dislike for each other, but now all they do is argue over unimportant things. “Mrs. Van Daan- You know what your father says. [She sits on the couch, sewing on the lining of her fur coat.]Peter- For heaven's sake I haven't even looked at him since lunch. Mrs Van Daan- I'm just telling you that's all. Anne-I'll feed him, Peter-I don't want you in there. Mrs. Van Daan- Peter!” That just goes to show that even feeding a cat is driving a family apart.
