Description of the Business:
Flowers For The World (FFTW) was incorporated in 1912 and is headquartered in New York. We are a large horticultural company that is engaged in import, export and distribution of flowers. It is with immense passion that we drive this business and are one of the most experience brands on the street. Since 1994 our specialty has been in the sales of Roses, Daffodils and Irises. We almost ace the markets for these 3 flowers in competitive space and are working hard to be even better. The manner in which we conduct our business activities is that we participate in auction each week in Aalsmeer, Holland. We have been extremely successful bidders in the auction market and hold expertise in bidding the right quantity of flowers at the most competitive price. Once we are notified of our results from the auction, we engage in string of partnerships to sell flowers directly to the customers. We make sure that the delivery is conducted in a timely fashion and do sell the most of what we purchased. Any excess flow of flowers is refrigerated in the long island warehouse and the life is estimated to be 3weeks of refrigerated flowers. Our effort is always to make the least use of warehouse and match purchases and sales. Our efficiency in the business is remarkable and our expertise has helped us to have an edge above our competitors. FFTW is committed to innovate continuously and provide customer satisfaction with pleasing investors.

By tracking her references to flowers, three different colors of flowers are repeated multiple times within the text and each seems to represent something different. The first colored flower that Offred presents to the reader in her narrative is blue: “On the wall, above the chair, a picture, framed but with no glass: a print of flowers, blue irises, watercolor. Flowers are still allowed.” (Atwood 7). Here, Offred is describing her room at the Commander’s house. She notices the blue flowers because they are one of the few things from the past—the “time before”— that have been able to make their way into the Republic. In this sense, they are familiar. Later, this suggestion is reinforced as she describes the blue flowers that appear in the
