For many people, the idea of American Dream is every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to accomplish success and shaping through hard work. It seems that the phrase "American Dream" has been formed in the minds of so many people, including those who never knew where is America located in this global, how large it is? Or what it has? Why there are so many people want to live here? On March 20, 2011. My family and I moved to America after our immigration documents were completed. At roughly about 12480 ft of altitude, I looked out the window and started to think about my future, “Is my future going to be like heaven like the fuzzy, silky white clouds and is it going to be flying high like this?”. Tired of thinking, I went back to sleep right away. “Please fastened your seatbelt, we are about to land." a beautiful flight attendant said. Our duration of the flight was 19 hours included waiting and transfer. After a long flight and the progress of getting back our luggage, we went straight home. Antioch, California was where we heading to, from San Francisco airport to Antioch, along with the road. There were so many cars, tall buildings, trees, and people. They were completely different than my country. I lived in a small town called Trung Hieu, we don’t have a lot of vehicles with four wheels, tall building and big trees like in America. My jaw dropped, “This is it, America!” I screamed with my excited voice. For me, I felt America is like my home country, Vietnam. Everything America has Vietnam has it too. A first few days after coming here, I was surprised by American cultures like the way of greeting, talking, and how education in America different from my country. It was very different from Asian culture. The surprise of a different culture was completely normal to any immigrant like me but it changed after a few years when I adapted it.
