Yellowstone National Park is one of the largest and oldest national parks in American history. Yellowstone was the first park to be protected by private investment on March 1, 1872, and the first to be put under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service in 1918, no doubt due to its unique and inspiring landscape and geothermal features. In fact, Yellowstone National Park is home to half of the world’s total hydrothermal features. The park has a total size of 28,125 square miles, is found in three distinct states, and is considered to be one of the largest
Fire has long been understood to have an impact on the ecosystem of our native woodlands, but it is only recently that we have come to understand its importance in maintaining the ecosystem. This report takes samples of the flora structure and growth in two different areas of Anstey Hill Recreation Park. The first was last burnt in 1995, and the second burnt in 2012. The results of these samples can be compared to data sampled in 2011, when the 2012 burnt area had not been burnt since Ash Wednesday in 1983.
Isolation, meaning a state of separation, is often misperceived by many as people frequently believe that isolation is always a negative state of being; that isolation due to emotions is non-realistic, and that isolation is always involuntary. These myths are commonly accepted; however, the novel Crow Lake takes a different stand from these myths. Mary Lawson, author of the novel, demonstrated isolations in many of its forms through the protagonist, Kate, and a small, desolated rural community that represented the primary setting of the novel, Crow Lake. By doing so, Lawson reveals the counterfactual nature of these myths and thus correcting the misconceptions that the society has about isolation.
The Withlacoochee River Park lies on four-hundred and six acres of land, however, the area it is essentially part of is much larger system known as the Green Swamp, a 560,000 acre area that supplies a massive amount of drinking water to our state’s population. In addition, the swamp provides habitats for a plethora of Florida’s native wildlife, including alligators, white-tailed deer, and black bears. The Green Swamp is also contains one of the largest cypress swamps in the state of Florida, meaning Withlacoochee River Park is a highly important ecological asset to Florida’s natural environment.
The Governor of Georgia is trying to get rid of historical sites in Georgia, to save money. I think that there are some she should rethink about and keep, but the most important one is Cloudland Canyon. This beautiful state park has some of the best views you could see in the state.
Bennett Springs is a state park located near Lebanon, Missouri. The park is centered on a spring, deep in the ground that was caused by an earthquake, according to the Osage Native Americans. The spring was bought from the Bennett heirs in 1924 and 1925. Since then, the land has been turned into a state park. It has been stocked with mountain trout since then and is great for fishing. The Niangua River, the river into which the spring flows, is a great river to canoe. The park has many trails as well, for those wanting to get right out there with nature. Bennett Springs is a great place to vacate for many reasons: great fishing, great canoeing, and many other outdoor activities.
The deep yellow sunset finally sets off in the distance. My lantern softly glows and outlines my breath in the crisp, cool air. It’s twenty below zero, but I don’t care. Tired face frozen in a smile, I write this entry filled with accomplishment. We did it. I’m surrounded by my three best friends, the warmth of my parka, and the world.
Have you ever used a tap-to-pay credit card or walked through an automatic door? Have you ever used the GPS on a cellphone or gotten shopping suggestions while browsing a shopping website? Chances are that anyone could answer yes to most of those questions, and if so they have potentially already been picked up by a big data system. Extremely similar techniques of collecting data are being used in the Disney World of today so that Disney can know where their consumers have been, what they look at, and what they buy. Imagine Disney as a shepherd who was struggling to keep up with his ever-growing “flock” of “sheep” — or the people visiting Disney World park and resort; Disney decided that in order to better manage the influx of guests he
Zhang Zeduan’s masterpiece depicts the landscape of his hometown, Kaifeng and the life of its people during the Song dynasty. Nearly 500 years later, Qiu Ying portrayed his hometown Suzhou in a similar way, but in his version, the scenes are different to the original version. Compared to Zhang, Qiu Ying added more blue-and-green landscape patterns, and the feeling of the artisan is not strong in this work. The most important thing is that both artists show different visual perspectives of the culture and customs of the city.
My skin soaking up the sun, the water splashing at my face, and the constant wind in my hair are my favorite little things while on the boat at my lake house. As I sit on the boat I take in every stress free moment it offers to me. My lake house is on Shafer Lake, which is right in the middle of a small town Monon, Indiana. Aside from living in Italy, this is where I picture my life after retirement.

Hayden Park was an interesting place for a Freeze-Frame assignment. For those who have not heard of a Freeze-Frame, it is simply sitting in one spot for 15 to 20 minutes observing ones surroundings. So to continue, at first glance, Hayden Park is a typical Valley of the Sun type park. Most of these typical parks have grass, picnic tables, some trees, and usually some sort of sports availability such as a basketball court or soccer field, or both. In addition, the parks also have pleasant surroundings. But Hayden Park is located in South Phoenix, so automatically the typical standard for parks is altered.
A ways away from a town that I call home, I found a happy place. I often find myself walking through the park by myself. The beautiful trees, the way the yellow and red leaves crumple under my feet every step I take. When the flowers bloom and how it's the most spectacular sight you could ever imagine seeing, all the different colors that appear. When you breathe in and you get this smell of purity, you feel free and alive. Sometimes I like to sit on the old wooden bench where the bench frame is a little rusted, and I get rid of my thoughts and my eyes search the sky. In the winter the icy breeze makes me shiver, and the cold air I take in, is like sitting in front of an air conditioner and breathing in. Some mornings the sun beams across the sky, which is not quite blue yet, but the sun has almost fully risen. When the wind blows, it grazes over the blades of grass. Some days I just stand and take a deep breath in and I can taste the spring. When summer comes around, and the bees are buzzing, and the hot sun beats on the back of my neck, I lay on the soft grass and listen, to the birds chirping a beautiful song, and the kids playing in the park. The sky is the bluest view in sight.
The water beats at the bank feel gently, and resides carefully to avoid over soaking it. The air is fresh and overwhelming with cool gushes of wind blowing past, provoking the trees to yawn and some times sleep. It was a lovely Valentine day and perfect for a picnic at Lake Lavon.
