I dream Or, at least I think I'm dreaming, for when I wake I'm nowhere I recognize but somewhere I command. A palace of my own, a land I rule I breathe My breath fogs the glass, swirls of the pink cloud escaping into the room. Pink? I must be enchanted, enthralled with wonderment. I laugh The cloud darkens, romantic blush instead of wilted roses. I rise My chair legs scrap in the quiet, to loud and deliberate to fit the mood. I walk, giddy with excitement, klutzy with impatience, shaking with cold. I pant My breath a rosy cloud that follows like a puppy on my heels as I sprint down the hall, round the corner, up the stairs. I stop Where am I going, where is this place? I exhale, my breath the color of melted caramels. Confusion, it seems, tastes sweet. I shrug Shaking off my momentary hesitation, dismissing my befuddlement I continue, slowly, like molasses in the wintertime, soaking in my surroundings. The rich tapestries adorning the wall, depicting glories of the past. Plush carpet beneath my bare feet. Muted starlight through the stain glass windows. A door blocks my path. I open it. A bombardment of sensations greet me like a punch to the gut and I squint into the blinding new light. The melted caramel thickens, embracing me like a waking haze. I gasp Unbelievable. It's like an entire new world, and the caramel haze dissipates. The pink is back and darker than ever as I walk forward, stumbling on the stairs. Excitement It tastes like a sharp spice on my tongue, the
My heart pounded as my feet slammed along the beaten path in the woods. When I was certain I had gained enough ground, I dove under a bush. I began to crawl from the path, the branches tugging on my hair. I smiled as flowers danced across my face.
There were French doors on the wall opposite me leading out to the patio. A chain of roses surrounded the doorway, creating a beautiful ambiance. There was a king-sized bed perched up against the wall, with the white sheets neatly made. The wooden floor shone beneath me, unlike the splintered wood floor upstairs.
The best part of a long, hard-working day is when you finally get to lay in your bed, close your eyes and let your imagination run free. As you sleep your mind takes you to another place far away from the real world. You begin to dream. Over the night, you may have several dreams. In the morning, you may wake up and wonder what your dreams were suppose to mean for you and your life. By analyzing your dream, it "gives a true picture of the 'subjective state'-how we really feel about ourselves-which the conscious mind cannot or will not give" (Wietz 289). In order to find the meaning of a dream, you have to pick out the most important symbols and define them. But you may be wondering what exactly is a symbol?
To many people, dreams are the thoughts that occur while sleeping, having almost mystic qualities. For millennia the significance of dreams has escaped even the brightest of philosophers and intellectuals. Many people have speculated about why people dream and what meanings the dreams have but in recent times two theories have gained credibility in answering those questions. The first theory is Sigmund Freuds and the other is known as the cognitive theory of dreams also known as biological determinism.
I open my eyes again after what could have been a life time or no time at all. Blinding light forces them to reshut. I try to open them slowly and squint at my surroundings, but my stinging eyes crave the darkness. “Welcome back,” a different voice says; a woman’s.
The sun was about to set and it was getting very dark out. You walked out the door and began to walk. The breeze caused shivers to run down your spine and goosebumps to appear on your arms, but this will all be worth it. Won't it?
I slow to a walk. I am a stone’s throw from my home; I can feel the responsibilities calling me
"I see you have found me within the Evergreens, and chosen to enter my abode, rather than flee. With this, you have consciously or unconsciously decided noting on this material plane will satisfy you. As such," The shadow will stand, and its voice will fragment. "You will join us, and consume other malcontents for eternity."
My family and I are riding in the car, getting very impatient. We are about 1 mile away. We drive on a very twisty road to get there. I can see the big, bumpy, waves roll into the big cement wall. I can see the big Island in front of the lake house. As we turn the corner I can see the lake house. My family is standing outside in their pajamas still, waiting to see us. Driving down the street I see tons of trees and cars everywhere. As we
I know where I am. I’ve been here before: with Luke, in the afternoons, a long time ago. It was a hotel, then. – p. 271
I skip down the creaky stairs, my feet making a sort of melody on the old splintering wood. My fingertips brush along the grayish yellow wall
and I place it behind my back. Before I can even get through the word open, her eyes are
This critical evaluation essay will be on Martin Luther King’s speech “I Have a Dream”. This speech was delivered during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on 28 August 1963. This march was initially organized to focus on the economy, but as the date grew near, the focus shifted to social issues in the country. This march was attended by more than two hundred thousand people, to include the many actors, musicians, and the civil rights leaders. Martin Luther King said “I am happy to join you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation”. (King). Martin Luther King not only touch the hearts of so many that day, and on that he made people aware that there was work
Walking down the busy filled street. I felt myself putting my head down as people continued to walk in the opposite direction. Frosty air breathes against my flushed cheeks. Its whimsy arms
I jolted awake in fear. I had a dream. A weird dream. A vivid dream. It was full of people shouting and bright flashes of light. It was confusing yet clear, like some part of me understood it. I didn’t know it would be important then but now I know. How? Well, it happened like this…
