In the summer after 4th grade, my family decided to go on a vacation to the big apple, New York City. I can still remember packing my luggage full of not only clothes, but also the essential snacks. I filled that suitcase all the way up to the seams with Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, Nabisco Teddy Grahams, and Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies. I packed the food in hope of having good treats for the plane ride, and my father says New York City food is expensive. Little did I know at the time that this vacation would become the story of when I got lost in New York. The day of the trip started out as any vacation would. The teller politely hands me back my ticket, and then tells me the horrific news, “I’m sorry honey but your luggage is a little too big, and will have to be stored under the plane.” My mouth drops, all that planning and time for snacks was wasted. My father hands the woman the luggage and nudges me forward. I somberly walk up the incline and find my seat aboard the plane. As the plane ascends from the runway I descended into a deep sleep. I awake to the voice of the pilot thanking the passengers for traveling with Delta Airlines, and that we will be unloading shortly. Once unloaded, my dad leads the family through LaGuardia Airport, hoping to find signs for baggage claim. My family begins rushing through the hundreds of people coming and going from their flights, and I soon begin to fall behind. One man in a brown tweed suit rams his wheeled luggage over my foot causing me to fall. Once I regain my footing, I see that I am no longer the last one in my family’s pack, but instead, separated from them all together. I begin to wander aimlessly around hoping to see any form of a familiar face. I look for anything hinting at baggage claim, but only see signs for connecting flights. With no luck of finding my family, I get the idea to go to exit area of the airport and wait for them there. I sit on a bench near the pick-up area for thirty minutes, with no signs of my parents or siblings. After finally waiting for 1 hour, I decide
