How Personal Responsibility Will Lead to My Success Personal responsibility means to me holding yourself accountable for not only the successes in your life but also your downfalls. If a person can do this they will not only be successful in their education but in their careers and life in general. Even though some people who lack personal responsibility do just fine in life, personal responsibility will lead to my success in and beyond school because it gives me the confidence to succeed,
described to me the fine lines between descriptive and prescriptive writing. I learned that descriptivism is far more valuable than prescriptivism. With the help of a couple past English courses, I was able to construct my ability to write both an effective, abstract essay while maintaining a prescriptive skeleton. Course such as mythology, my seventh grade english course, and my sophomore year English course are all examples of classes that either helped my dexterity mature or diminish. The first
2012 Dear Reader, My writing journey this semester has been a roller coaster. Since the beginning of this course I have improved in so many different areas. When I first began in this class, I didn’t have a clue how to start my essays. I wasn’t very good with being descriptive either. On top of that, revising was something I hated to do. My writing process was very messy and organization was never something I considered when writing a paper. Since taking this class my skills in organization
attending Mrs. William’s English Comp 1 class, I felt marginally confident about my writing, however, I knew I needed improvement. You visually perceive, I’ve been out of school for proximately thirty-three years and honestly, not knowing what to expect these questions arose, “Can I genuinely write”? “What type of writing will be required”? “How well will I do”? When I stepped into the classroom and gazed about the room, I felt out of my element. The students were much younger and more keenly intellective

For instance, one time it took me one hour to read five pages of Harper Lee’s To Kill a
writers purpose will allow you to see different aspects of an essay than the average person would. Many different aspects play into why someone writes what they write, and that’s what makes their essay memorable. Personally, the most memorable piece of writing that I’ve ever constructed was my college essay for the University of Central Florida, and these exact aspects; exigence, context, constraints, and audience are what helped develop my essay.
My experience in English Composition 1 this semester has been a tough one. From day one, I knew that this class was not going to be a “walk in the park”, so I tried to prepare myself for what was to come. Throughout this semester, I have recognized my strengths as well as my weaknesses , and I still continue to struggle with a lot of them to this day. Through it all, this class has been a journey that has taught me a lot. When we first began to write our descriptive essay, my confidence level was
I believe this class will effectively jumpstart my business writing career. Although this class may only consist of 16 weeks, I will take advantage of all the lectures and assignments because they will both ultimately improve my quality of writing for the rest of my life. Writing has never been a passion or love of mine but I see how greatly useful it is and I plan on achieving some of my writing oriented goals with the help of this course. My first goal I hope to reach is precise and direct
My first undergraduate level college writing class provided me with a great deal of knowledge not only about the multi-dimensional writer the class formed me into but also about the writer who I used to be through the various diverse assignments we completed this semester. My first essay of the semester was a personal essay about my experiences on a given day. At first, I found my first assignment somewhat challenging due to the struggle surrounding the goal of not sounding like I was just listing
