The entire village is a single street
This is a tiny village in County Clare, Ireland. And when I say tiny, I mean literally one block long. You'd think you'd be underwhelmed, but the buildings have such a unique and classic flare, and they have a way of making you feel like you're in a fairytale. The folks of this little village are very welcoming, and the best part is you don't have to worry about large crowds! This village may be small, but trust me, you'll want to take pictures of every building and sign. This place has a way of making you feel right at home, even as a total tourist! On top of that, they're so used to tour buses stopping in, all of the shops are absolute pros at helping tourists and keeping up with whatever crowds come their way!
A scenic village in the middle of scenic greenery
The village is not only on a single street, but it's also only on one side of a single street. If you turn from the
The street I live on has a lot of houses on it, and mine just happens to be one of them. Each house has its own driveway each one unique in its own way. Most of them are paved driveways, but mine happens to be made from hard pack. I can picture the driveway when it was built, still in the same place and still being made of rocks.
Setting often provides more then just a mere backdrop for the action in the story. It is probably the most important part of the putting together a story. In this story the setting is a reflection of the character as much as the town. The physical setting, time setting and cultural settings are all important parts of this short story,
Throughout Thornton Wilder’s play Our Town, resistance to change is a popular, repeated theme; this theme is easily seen when George and Emily walk home from school together and stop at the drugstore for ice cream sodas. Emily’s caution as to not upset George when confronting him about changing and Mr. Morgan’s negative comments about the changes going on in town and about the passage of time making matters worse, show the seriousness that townspeople of Grover’s Corners take any amount of change.
Our Town is a rather unorthodox production. Most playwrights want to go for realism and detail, with huge scene sets or intricate scene changes. Not this one. In Our Town the author (Thornton Wilder) strives to create a play which does not need to rely on scenery and detail, but visualization and the investment of the audience. In this way there is nothing to distract from the core message or plot of the play. What this play does take to it’s advantage are sound effect; with the lack of props or scenery the sound effects give us the perfect amount of imagery to go on. Now within this script there are several directors in which have taken the play and made it their own. Out of three of the plays being: NBC's 1977 representation, PBS’s 1989 representation, and PBS’s 2003 representation. From these three representations one of theme most suitably gets a grasp of what Wilder was going for; simplicity, relatability, and imagery. PBS’s 2003 representation best defines what wilder's vision of his great play was.

No park, corner shop not even a pub. Well that’s a lie there was a pub but it was open then it was closed then it was open and then it was closed. You get the picture. Now it is a load of houses. Up the long windy road, there is a church. Churches are known for encouraging people to pray and worship God. Well, that’s the exact opposite of what I want to do when I see that church. It’s just too sinister. The vicar is called David. He’s not the most approachable person. He has got a mustache that looks like a rat ready to pounce. I try to avoid him at all costs. The local farmer is called John. You would think that he would be a normal farmer who would look after animals and grow crops but no he’s a farmer who wanted to be different. Farmer John is the owner of a strawberry farm. That’s probably the only plus of living in the village. You can have unlimited strawberries.
I attended Athens West Theatre Company’s performance of, Our Town by Thornton Wilder on October 8th, 2017. The production was directed by Larry Snipes and it was located in the Black Box Theatre in the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center in Lexington, Kentucky. This show premiered in 1938 and it remains a classic play, and it is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Our Town is a show highlighting universal truths about birth, death, life, longing, love and marriage, looking back at America in the early 1900s.
There lies a whole city of light. The docks are full of boats and buildings that look like small huts. Joyful music fills my ears, making me wish that I could go to the village. The smell of something delicious cooking and the hum of music is like a warm lullaby far in the distance.
Many urban children have similar experiences of rural space and culture. An urban youth recalled seeing `cats, animals, grass, lots of trees and gates' on his drives through the country (McCormack, 2000: 15). Despite his experiences lacking the natural or agricultural depth that rural children enjoy, they show that even those youths that have little interaction with rurality can understand and partake in the more idyllic countryside notions. The same interviewee also drew his family engaged in a game of cricket while on a picnic in the country, surrounded by animals and trees. He related such experiences to the idea of spaciousness, explaining that residents could just `walk outside and go into one of the open fields' in order to play a game of cricket or have a picnic. Obviously the more sophisticated notions of rurality are lacking in these limited experiences but the essential components are there, illustrating that most children have had some experience of countryside spaces and cultures.
Wherever I am, I find it hard to resist the tempting call of my hometown. My hometown is a small village located in Shandong province. There are about two thousand people in the village. Small as it is, it’s a very beautiful place and has its own folk culture. The weather is warm in winter and cool in summer. It’s a good place for tourism.
Often when the word country is brought up, people think of big trucks, the song “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean, taking a four-wheeler through the mud, and sometimes even a confederate flag. However, country can not be bought at a store. It’s something to be born with. Country isn’t just a bunch of dumb rednecks, as it is normally associated with. Country runs much deeper. To me, Country is a way of life that makes yourself work the hardest you can, love the most you can, and create memories in the great outdoors that can never be forgotten.

I walk up to Walker’s, the fanciest restaurant in Coconut Beach. What a stupid name for a stupid little town. That's what I have always thought. I live in a little town between San Destin Beach and South Walton Beach. Stuck between two big cities you'd think we would be a big city too. But we are still a small town because we have this historic colonial home and town that no one touched during the Civil War because they didn't know it was here. It was found years after the war was over. But all because of it, the governor will not allow shopping centers here or anything that makes this tiny town something. Nothing in this bumbledump town has been built in the last fifty years. It has all been preserved and maintained.
Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be a farmer and have animals. When I was about 7 years old my family moved to town and we sold our animals. Ever since we moved I have wanted to move back to the country so I can have land and animals again. My uncle inherited farmland from his father (my great uncle). With the help of new machinery and other agricultural advances he has improved and expanded his farmland. Since I hope to have a farm of my own I began working with my uncle last summer. My uncle is in his 50’s and doesn't have any children with his wife, so I am hopeful that if I help him on his farm and learn how to do things he will sell or give me the farm. In February I asked him if I can work with him and he said yes! When I began working with him, he gave me jobs that nobody wants to do. He told me to take a weed eater and cut weeds down a field a mile long. When I thought I was done with that, he told me to cut the weeds around his hay barns. I hated doing that, but I knew it would get better if I didn't quit. I was seeing coyotes on his land and asked him if I can come and shoot them. My girlfriend got me an electronic coyote call for my birthday, which is in September, which means it is easier to call them in. When dove hunting on his farm got slow I decided to use the call I got. I set it in the middle of a field and turned it on. As I was standing on the edge of a corn field talking to my cousin, I looked to my left and saw two coyotes coming in. I
