Soccer. fast moving, strategy, competitive, I loved those aspects in the game. In the month of March, when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team which was 2 years older-my brother's team- just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the team. Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, on the side with fear because there were boys who were enormous and strong on my team. The only reason they were bigger, because I was 2 years younger.
It was the first game of the season. It was also the first game for me being on the team. It was the scared moment of my life, all at once. But I knew it would be fun because I'll improve more rapidly than I would, playing in my age group.
Tweet!! the game began. 22 powerful bodies on the field. I was not the starting line of players because I was the younger one and the new one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the starting player, I needed to prove to my coach that I am capable of being the starting line. My brother was the starting player, not because he was better than me, but he had been on the team longer. He played the same positions as me- left wing- so every time I would have to substitute in for him when he got tired. I didn't have as much time to play as the others did. With great deals of struggle and going to each practice with the team. I was determined. Arriving 30 minutes earlier, for extra warm up and be in the state of mine that I was in the game. Every 2 days, going to the gym to workout so I could gain bigger and stronger than the older dudes I played with. Beautifully, with all the self-development skills and techniques, I was in the best shape of my life. Achieving smaller different goals while aiming for the main one. One shot and multiple kills.
As the time passed, I was halfway through the season. Nevertheless, I expanded immensely and exceptionally. I could feel it and I could absolutely trust my feelings. I didn't stop there yet. I wanted to aim higher. I wanted to fly like the birds. I wanted to be the best. Being the starting line of player, the captain of the team. That was only possible if I was to train more and do everything that was cruisel
Soccer was a huge thing in my community so when one of my friends named Julio invited me to join his soccer team i got so happy i went to go buy new pairs of shoes to show them off and to this day i will never forget what those shoes were they were these blue and grey nike mercurial shoes. I went to my first game and that's when i met more people that also loved soccer like i did but they went to different schools so i didn't really know them. My team won the league and also the finals i was 8 years old when all this happened and as an award for winning the finals my team was rewarded with a huge trophy. What made that day the most memorable day of all is when i received a separate trophy and on the trophy it had written “Star player” that's when i
I chose to play another year of recreational soccer, making sure to come back the next year to prove a point that I can put in the work and give myself the best opportunity to make the top team. Everyday after school, I would head to the fields and practice every aspect of my game. I would arrive an hour early to every practice, and I would leave an hour after practice. Day in and day out, I worked diligently on my fitness. For a year, I stopped at nothing to give myself the best chance I could to reach my goal. Motivated after that dissapointing tryout, nothing could stop me from doing my best. Standing on a different field, one year later, tryouts began. I was determine to produce my best performance. Two hours later, every player stood single file. Coincidentally, I was the first person called up; the coach informed me that I made the top team. However, this team played for a different club than the one I tried out for last year. This team competed at a much higher level. Not only did I make the team, but I gained the knowledge and appreciation for hard work and dedication. People rarely receive everything they want; however, they can always put in their best effort to provide themselves the best opportunity at obtaining what they
Most people believe soccer is nothing but just a game , but for me, it's more than a game it's a passion. Soccer involves hard work , dedication , and long hours out in the field. It takes hard work to be out in the field playing with a ball aggressively and with skills. Soccer is a sport where there is no giving up , in order to be successful, you need to practice intensely to get stronger and better every day. There's times where you want to give up, but you just can't you need to find some type of motivation to keep you going. My coach is the person who has made an impact in my life . By that it changed me in many different ways. He has been able to motivate me , support me , and not letting me fail.
I knew I needed physical improvement just as much, if not more than, technical improvement. I also figured that hard physical training would make me tougher, harder, and less likely to get injured. With that mindset I practically killed myself over the offseason. I weight lifted every day, and went to club practice four days a week.
The coaches said that we weren't gonna get the results until a couple days, but those days I was so anxious. Finally the day we were gonna find out the results came. My mom opened up her email and she found out that I made the team with some of my fellow friends from school. I was so excited for my first day to come. That first season of competition was very nerve racking but at the same time so fun. I even remember at one competition I placed first all around in my division. After the first season of competing on silver, my coach wanted to see if I was ready for gold. They put me through one gold practice and I moved up to the gold team. I didn't know a lot of people on that team, so I had to make
However, I strived to become better and dedicated hours upon hours of practice to better myself and by senior year I became captain of my team and ended my season with 13-5 win-losses and qualifying 4th in the district.
As a child, I grew up playing softball and that 's it. My mom played softball, my cousins played softball. It’s just all I knew. When I reached the seventh grade at Gardner Dickinson (my elementary and middle school), my friends all played soccer and I reluctantly joined as well. Each year I had my ups and downs with soccer, but it grew to be a part of who I am and has taught me a lot of things. For example, to try new things, to work hard, to never give up, and to step up and be a leader.
It felt as I was walking for the first time again. I felt so unsteady. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how high my standards were going to be. My first game to start was arguably my worst football game ever played. Over and over, I snapped the ball, threw it to my intended target, and I saw the other team come down with it. Every throw I began trembling. I had anxiety, questioning my future career. This was expected, I had no proper coaching, no fundamental technique, and my genuine mechanics were nonexistent. After those few unforgettable games, I had learned from my mistakes and started my development as a
At that moment I realized that I had to add something to my game in order to stand out. I soon learned that practice and physicality could only make me better. Freshman year came around and i didn't have a coach that was willing to support me and help me develop into the player i know i am today. Its been a whirlwind of emotions with all the pain and failure I've experienced since my freshman year, when i watched the team go 4-11, To say the least i didn't get a single game but that only taught me to fight harder for what i wanted. Sophomore year came around, and with that a new coaching staff that gave me an opportunity to shine from day one. At the beginning of my sophomore season i thought i wasn't meant to be a goalkeeper, so i switched to attack, after a few games, i didn't like it and my coach could see that i was frustrated not being able to settle in. During a game against Flanagan High School, our goalie let in two goals in a matter of seconds, and our coach
Growing up, sports never seemed to be my expertise. Dancing my youth away, I never imagined to show passion for such an intrusive contact sport. My friends continued to nag at me saying “You have to try out for the soccer team.” My first year of middle school I stepped out onto the field. Occasionally forgetting to breathe,I focused right on the ball. I started to think to myself that I could get used to this. I mean how bad could it be? What I didn’t realize was I did not have much soccer skills under my belt, but making the team already was an accomplishment. I respected the captains when they talked, and I tried, day after day, to pick up the skills they possessed.
I arrived at practice with my shoes laced, hair pulled back, and the mindset that I was unstoppable. I could play against every member of my team and come out the victor on any given day. It was the first day of practice that week, and challenge matches were scheduled to begin. The team went through our daily shuffle of drills, conditioning, and running to prepare for what was lying ahead. While warming up with my friends, I felt great, talking about homecoming, boys, and a variety of irrelevant events. I felt ready. The odds were in my favor and nobody could stop me.
I had devoted my entire off-season to attending camps and working out. I switched to a more competitive club league that included the best teams in the country. When the season began, I fought hard to keep my head straight and prove that I deserved a spot on the field. By mid-season I had I earned the starting center midfielder position.
People have always loved to play games. The human race has created hundreds of thousands of games to entertain themselves and to compete with one another. The most beloved games are those of physical sports. One of these sports, that has become a worldwide phenomenon, is the game soccer. The entire world gathers every four years to send out their best team, and to see which country is the ultimate champion. To play the game of soccer, there needs to be referees to ensure that the players are safe and are following the rules. Though this was once a highly respected position, in Virginia, working as a referee is no longer worth the time, due to a lack of respect, no support system, and the constant variations and changes to the rules.
That summer after sixth grade went pretty fast,it was mainly filled with on and off training with the high school varsity football team.We would do drills every weekday in July until August 9, that’s when I was on my own, it was football season. The first day of school was a little hard being in a new school and
As the season went on, I had worked on my skills and had begun to have personal success in games. As soon as I know it, I ended up being brought up to varsity to add depth since many of our starters had gotten hurt. Even though I did not get much playing time on varsity, I was still very glad to make the team. I knew that hard work really does pay off.
