The Orlando Vacation
Vacations out of state are always fun, but taking a vacation for your favorite sport is always the best. It was mid-June, and my AAU basketball team had decided we were going to participate in the 2017 YBOA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. I had been to this tournament before, and I knew it was nothing to joke about. The national tournament consisted of over fifty very talented teams from around the country that were competing for the title to bring back to their country. On the way to Florida, my parents and I were definitely excited, but they could obviously tell I was a little nervous. I knew the next week of my life was going to be a battle, but I also knew that my team had the ability to place well in nationals and have fun. After the long nine-hour drive, I had finally arrived at the hotel. It definitely lived up to its name, Floridays Resort. I was mesmerized at the beautiful sights of the castle-like structure. As soon as we found a parking space my mom said, “Make sure you get all of your bags out of the car.”
“Yes, make sure you get your bags,” my dad agreed. In my head, I was imagining how amazing this week was going to be. For the rest of that weekend, I got to chill out and settle down. Tuesday would be my first pool play game for the tournament, and it was going to be tough.
The day had come, it was finally time to go to the Orlando Convention Center for the first game. I knew it had to be game day from the wonderful smell of home-made breakfast my family always made. “Hurry up we’re going to be late,” my mother exclaimed from the kitchen. After we left the hotel for the convention center, I met up with the rest of my teammates in the parking lot. The convention center almost looked like an airport with its massive entrances and rooms on the inside. As I walked with my team to the court we played on, I began to get butterflies in my stomach. Our first opponent, the North Alabama Stars, was a very good team from what I had heard. Nevertheless, we play at our expected level of play and won 72-42. This first win in the national tournament had given my team a huge momentum boost heading into our next games. Later that day, we played another team called the Louisiana Ambassadors.
I currently live in Kissimmee, Florida. Kissimmee is a city located in Central Florida’s Osceola County. It is located south of Orlando. The State of Florida is positioned in both the northern and western hemispheres. It is located in the far southeastern region of the United States which is a part of North America. Florida is bordered by the states of Alabama and Georgia, the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Straits of Florida. The physical system of Florida includes the KOE system which is the Kissimmee River, Okeechobee, and Everglades. The Human System of Florida would be the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Power Plant, also known as the Crystal River Nuclear Plant. It’s a closed nuclear power plant located in Crystal River, Florida.
March is one of the craziest, fun-filled, exciting months of the year, especially for people who love basketball. St. Patrick’s Day arrives, the warmth is just starting to come back; but that is not the best part, it’s all the March Madness. The NCAA Basketball Tournament brings happiness, laughter and upsets to some people and teams. Every Division 1 Basketball team in the country plays to eventually make it to the Sweet Sixteen on the bracket, in hopes of being the new NCAA Basketball Champions. Some teams struggle, while others come out on top. “The Game That Saved March Madness” written by Sean Gregory, Time staff writer who has been
I hopped in Dad’s car to head to Disney World in Florida. It took us 30
Have you ever been on a vacation? To me a vacation is a time to be with friends or family. When I think of vacations, I think of packing, the flight or drive, and relaxation. Not only is it very exciting to go on a vacation, but you get closer to the people that go with you.
Choosing vacations destinations can become a stressful process. However, if the goal is to find locations outside of the United States and wan to travel to countries in the Caribbean and Latin America I have a few suggestions for you. Negril, Jamaica and Cancun Mexico are among the best vacations spots I have ever visited. The beaches, the accommodations, and the food is amazing in both countries.
Have you ever used a tap-to-pay credit card or walked through an automatic door? Have you ever used the GPS on a cellphone or gotten shopping suggestions while browsing a shopping website? Chances are that anyone could answer yes to most of those questions, and if so they have potentially already been picked up by a big data system. Extremely similar techniques of collecting data are being used in the Disney World of today so that Disney can know where their consumers have been, what they look at, and what they buy. Imagine Disney as a shepherd who was struggling to keep up with his ever-growing “flock” of “sheep” — or the people visiting Disney World park and resort; Disney decided that in order to better manage the influx of guests he
Running into the gym with my team, knowing it was my last middle school basketball game, but first championship game I felt elated and truly blessed. My knees quivered with anticipation after seeing all the bleachers filled with people. After realizing even the press and other media was in attendance I grasped the moment like a newly elected president at his inauguration. I am warming up doing basketball drills, when I began to look at the flags on the gym wall depicting the history of the basketball team. The years and dates of the last championship game, Historically a championship game had not been won since 2007 . The more I stared at the flags, the more it made me want to win this game and make history in this gym. As the crowd and cheerleaders start to chant, cheer and get loud, I started to feel more comfortable and rowdy more than I had ever felt in any other game that I’ve played. Waiting for the referee to blow the whistle for jumpall to start. I felt my fingertips tapping the side of my leg, which for some reason gives me a sign to myself that I am pumped up and ready to play!
One day, after leaving the cruise ship in Florida, Sydney and her family get a taxi up to Orlando to get their rental car. Since there were seven of them, they needed a minivan. The people who worked there gave them a little trouble, even though they reserved the van a month ago. Once they got the black van, everything was fine. They checked into their hotel, and waited for their other relative to drive down from jacksonville. He ended up being very late because he missed all of his exits. So, later that day, Sydney’s dad needed to get something from the hotel room. The family waited quietly in the van for him to return. Then, all of a sudden, Brooke, Sydney sister says “ guys, there is a mouse in the car.” Being the jokester she is, no one
My parents and I happily trudged out of our chilled condo room, weighed down by various beach supplies. We made our way to the elevator, slowly but surely exiting the maze we call our condo hallways. As we glided down, floor after floor, we finally reached the parking garage. We stepped out of the elevator feeling a mix of humidity and heat immediately cling to our tan bodies. We exited the garage to find a beautiful scene. Birds were flying overhead as there were sun rays beating down against white, hot sand. We crossed the bridge that held shoes and scattered shells. After we did so, we pressed our feet against the white sand that belonged to Destin, Florida. The sight was even more alluring than I had ever imagined.
I remember planning for this day for about two years. When I would finally get the chance to be with my best friends and take a road-trip to California to go to Disney Land, and now that the time to take that trip has come and gone I would like to talk about my most important journey.
Tuesday came around. On Sunday and Monday, I told all of my friends that I can’t do anything with them over the next two months because I was going to Costa Rica. They all had the same reaction I had when I saw the plane tickets. Jaws dropped, eyes wide, and hands on their heads. Even though we had an international airport in San Diego, we had to go to Los Angeles because that’s the densest in terms of the people that work with Mom. I dreaded long car rides. Mom said that it would be about forty-five minutes to get there, but as always, California traffic. I had butterflies in my stomach when I heard about the flight, just not the car ride.
Ever heard of this place called Disneyland? Yes, that huge phenomenon that every little child loves and even teenagers and adults love. Where there is these amazing rides and every Disney character you can think of is there! You probably know it as this amazing place that everyone loves and there is no wrong! Or maybe parents even know Disneyland from taking their child there so maybe they could get their energy taken out!

The warm breeze of the ocean air flies past my face. The heat of the yellow sun was sizzling, beating down against my skin, tanning and burning it within seconds. Beach goers were crowded around in all directions. Seagulls gliding past the groups of people, scouting for dropped or forgotten food to eat. Their little footprints marking a trail in the sand all over the place, going in a million different directions, searching for their next meal. I take in the exquisiteness of it all, the blue-green waves crashing into the sandy shore, making white foam and bubbles wash into the sea, little boys and girls that are digging in the bright white sand running away from the small waves before they get wet. The beach is a stunning place to be; there's just something about the ocean waves and the sand between my toes that makes me just want to stay there forever.
Most people that have gone to Orlando for holidays, ended with good memories. I’m not the exception. The resorts, the parks, and the restaurant make Orlando the best place to enjoy for the whole family. My last holiday with my nephew in The Wall Disney World Resort was the best time of our life for my family and me.
