After a long and exhilarating day the Chicago skyline fades in the rearview mirror. I am left with a sense of sadness, but I also know that I will be back. Chicago is a wonderful city that left a lasting impression on me, and Nashville is also a great memorable city but I will take the diverse and artistic Chicago over the musical and seedy streets of Nashville every time. You can take my word for it or be spontaneous and see for
Nashville pales in comparison to Chicago’s beauty. Chicago had a deep art influence which is reflected by its architecture, display of Alexander Calder’s sculptures, Cloud Gate (better known as “The Bean”), and The Art Institute of Chicago. The Windy City also has a natural element which can be seen in the blue waters of Lake Michigan and the gardens of Millennial Park. However, Nashville just isn’t much to look at. It is mainly streets with strips of buildings, some of which are sleazy bars and strip clubs.
“Nashville” by Tiana Clark was published in 2017 and details the experience of a black women through first person during present time and how her life as a black woman relates back strongly to the civil rights movement of the 1960’s. The speaker is a woman who is married to a white man and that is chasing someone who said a racial slur to her on the streets. She talks about how the civil rights movement happened and how it changed but how history repeats itself in a way that racism is still around today. The poem ends with her trying to come with peace with finding out who said the racial slur so she can get over it and move on. Racism has been around a long time. This poem in a deeper sense is about death of innocent people and
Breathe in. Breathe out. Take in the air, the bite of the wind, rush of cars and gaze up at the skyscrapers above. For some, Chicago is just another location, a point on the map, but for me it has a special place in my heart, due to the weather, its stunning beauty and the way it gives me a sense of belonging.
In 1877 life in the cities of Cheyenne and Chicago were very different. Although they differed they had few things in common such as the use of newspapers for information. Another thing that both of the cities had in common was neither city had used electric lights yet. Also, both cities used trains as a mode of transportation.
Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg has become an area that East Tennessee State University students go to visit. Gatlinburg offers something for many; however, the city has some growing pains such as traffic and limited space. Thus, the city of Gatlinburg offers many things that a traveler could need and want, provided that he or she is willing to overlook the city’s rapid growth.
Midterm Prompt 1b: Cultural Links between the Mississippi Delta and Chicago Over half of the migrants that left Mississippi during the Great Migration found a home in Chicago, Illinois. Migrants left for a number of reasons, including racial discrimination, violence, and economic hardships, and these migrants brought aspects of their culture with them. Needless to say, the wave of migrants transformed culture in Chicago.
Women have been discriminated against throughout the history of the United States. Women were typically associated with being “mothers” and having to take care of the children along with other so called home “duties.” They were not allowed to vote until fairly recently. Astonishingly, women in the United States were not allowed to have their own bank account before 1974. There is no reasonable excuse for such restrictions, except to keep women under the control of men. Altogether, the United States’ has a history of discriminating against women. Women have historically been treated as second class citizens, especially in the workplace, which kept them from doing certain jobs that were meant for men. The reality is that women have proven more than capable of doing labor intensive work. World War II proved that women were more than capable of replacing men. Women’s rights in the United States have definitely been improved, but they continue to be discriminated against in the workplace.
It was a short drive to the hotel, and the scenery was pretty cool, but I was really waiting for arrival time. I couldn't wait to see the hotel, and I had no clue what to expect. I eyes drifted out the window at all the tall trees on the hilly landscape. The trees filled the hill, and there was on sight of the forest floor. Birds of all sizes flew in and out of the forest, keeping a person looking at them and their home forever. But then the landscape began to change.
Arizona is a beautiful place for anyone to live. Growing up in Phoenix has been quite the experience. I have had a few encounters with different animals such as snakes, scorpions, and coyotes. With mountains surrounding us all around it is hard to avoid these creatures. Each mountain has a different view to offer and they are the most unbelievable sites, especially when the sun is setting. The scenery in Arizona is something out of a book. It does get pretty hot in Arizona, but if you like the cold weather all you have to do is drive a few hours up north to experience snow in the winter and cooler temperatures in the summer. The most popular type of food in Arizona would have to be Mexican food. There is a variety of restaurants all around

My capstone project was to go to Chicago and to see many high quality art in art museum and murals/monuments in public in the city. It was also to study the diverse art culture of Chicago.

Living in America is a fantasy for a lot of people, but living in New York City is something even better, and more magical than any fantasy.
It’s 7:30am, I step outside onto my apartment balcony. Cars are zooming down the over crowded streets, staunch buildings towering over me blocking the greeny lush hills far away. People rapidly walking down the sidewalk. In front of my eyes are shimmery silver and navy colours reflecting from the sky high buildings, they stand out more than the joyous light blue sky itself. Sounding in my ears are cars angrily roaring every 5 seconds, people barking at taxis to stop, an earth shaking sound that’s mixed with sound of a hurricane that’s just the aeroplane taking off from the city airport. The mouth watering smell of the local bakery down the road lingers through my nose, I can taste those freshly baked scones in my mouth from here.
