It all started with me wanting to go on a bike ride with my friends that day. It was a hot day, no clouds, sunny it was just beautiful out. So That day seemed to be the perfect day to go bike riding. I was in 3rd grade and was very hyper active so . mMy friends and I went for a bike ride my friends names were Tyler and another friend of which name I cannot remember his name today his name. So on that bike ride we were all riding very fast down a hill. We were in an apartment complex , so it was very small and not much area to ride but we were young and didn't care we were gonna have fun anyway. When I got down the hill I must of been going 100 miles an hour. At the end there was a sharp turn in which I went around recklessly. I looked away for literally 2 seconds to talk to my friends and and they were pointing forward, and t...they stopped and so, before iI knew it my friend said “Watch Out Trash Candumpster”! I looked forward and... “BANG”!! I hit the trash canthe dumpster. After that, I felt like a truck just hit me it hurt so bad and. tThe worst part was that my eye hit the corner of the metal dumpster canit. I then got a headache and had a black eye for a whole entire week. When I told my mom she felt bad for me but it also was a very funny story to tell .because lLet's be honest who does that. t, Tthe …show more content…
How could you forget such a terrible time, every time the symptoms get worse and worse. The most recent concussion I got was in august 2016 and it took me out of football for a good while because it was a major concussion. What happened was I was flipping on a trampoline with no net on the sides and I flipped off and hit my head i can't remember anything after i still don’t know how i got into the my house. The doctors suggest that I blacked out. So, I hurt myself a lot and I still do stupid stuff that lead to more and worse injury time and time again. The thing that's been said to me the most, BE
There are two basic types of motorcycles. One type is made for riding on smooth
This concussion set me back the furthest out of them all. It had been about a week since the doctor cleared me to begin playing sports again. It had been about three and a half months since my second concussion. My third concussion took place during a PE class. Our PE teacher sent me and a group of kids to an auxiliary gym by ourselves while the PE teacher went to play basketball in another gym. And of course when a teacher is not present there will be horseplay. And there was just that. The student was standing about five feet away from me when the ball struck the side of my head. My doctor put me on brain rest for about two weeks. If you do not know what brain rest is, it's when all you do is rest and sleep and do not do anything that will
Unfortunately, during the past couple of years I experienced a number of concussions while playing competitive soccer. A variety of symptoms such as extreme nausea and pounding headache appeared whenever I performed strenuous activities. I became disconnected from school, activities and my friends. Wanting to be healthier, I pushed myself during the difficult physiotherapy sessions and eagerly practiced the exercises at home. Thus, I am proud that I recovered since I learned that I must invest massive amounts of energy in order to reach my objectives and that life neglects my strategy and wishes; therefore, I must be flexible.
The first concussion I had was in late May of 2016. It was at a memorial soccer tournament. Our team was not good. We tied our first game and lost our second. So really, there was no chance at all to go the finals. The last game which was around noon on that Sunday. We had a goal lead from a goal I had scored earlier in the game and coach wanted me to play defense so we wouldn't give up a equalizer. It was about 5 minutes left in the game and the other team’s goalkeeper had just punted the ball. Me and a forward for the other team both went up to get a head on the ball. When I went up the back of the kid’s head collided with mine. I right after went onto the ground and covered my nose because that also had started to bleed.
A great deal of attention has been conducted on concussions in recent years, along with that has come amassed research that is being done by people all over the world. Every Doctor I have ever counseled with about concussions has said we learn something new every day about concussions. The surface has barely been broken when it applies to knowledge and understanding of concussions. Through my own personal turmoil and experiences I have undergone, I have cultivated many valuable things. The most crucial and valuable advice I could give anyone about concussions is, if you have suffered a concussion do not put yourself in a high risk environment where hitting your head is a possibility until your brain has fully healed. If you just do that, chances are you will heal just fine and heal in the normal recovery period.
When I was a sophomore in High School, I thoroughly enjoyed playing sports. But one day, all of that came to an end. I was at Football practice when things took a turn for the worst. I don’t really remember happened honestly. All that I remember was being very confused. I had received a concussion, the effects of which would be devastating in the months to come. Writing about it is rather difficult. I would compare it to trying to make sense of a flipbook that is missing the majority of its’ pages. Everything was a haze. No one knew what happened either. I wasn't hit very hard, I didn’t even fall down, but it was enough to affect everything from my grades to my weight in the months to come. I remember at the end of practice during conditioning; I turned to one of my
I was able to get caught up in school and being the top of my class again. I could finish classwork and homework at my regular speed. Although it was still hard, I could remember facts and names. After winter break I could return back to dance classes which felt like a relief to my life. I could physically move and do something I enjoy. Up to March I kept getting better. About mid March I hit my head again. I was making Ramen Noodles and when I reached down under a cabinet for a pot my dad called me and my ringer went off. Since I am easily startled, I straightened up and banged my head into the edge of the cabinet. I answered the call and told my dad what happen. He was convinced I just got a headache. I sat down, ate my Ramen Noodles, and attempted my homework. While I was seeing I was once again unsuccessful, I had doubts of a concussion. That evening I drove myself to dance class. As we started my Ballet instructor saw me swaying back and forth while doing and exercise and asked me if I was okay. She immediatly told me to sit down and she went to get the Dance Studio Owner. As she was testing my eyes, she thought I had a concussion. My parents picked me up and we decided I got another
I got my first concussion when I was in fifth grade playing flag football. For the first time in my life my brain could not work the way it was supposed to. Even after the brutally boring two weeks of minimal stimulation it took me to recover most of the way, I was still feeling residual effects. School wasn’t as easy for me anymore. It was a deeply humbling experience, but with support from my teachers, doctors, and family, I was able to get through it. It wouldn’t be the last concussion I got, though, as there were still six more
Have you ever been in a very happy mood because you get to do something you love? That happens to me when I race or ride dirt bikes. Dirt biking is a great sport because it is physically challenging and takes lots of preparation, never gets old because of all the different types of racing, and helps build lasting relationships. Racing dirt biking is a physically and mentally challenging sport.
After taking almost all of my eighth grade year battling concussions, I finally had a break at the end of my eight grade year. I felt really well the entire summer right before my ninth grade year. I made one of the most regrettable decisions of my life at the end of the summer. I decided to go with a group of friends to spend a weekend at the lake tubing. I did not realize at the time my brain was still susceptible to another y. brain injury. I went the entire weekend tubing on the lake and did not feel any symptoms; however, the next day I became very ill. I knew right away that I had re-concussed. Since this incident I have not been a 100%. I have suffered all of my high school career with post concussive syndrome. I have seen many Doctors
At the age of fourteen I received four concussions within a six-month time frame that would significantly impact my life. The head injuries would leave me with chronic debilitating symptoms. On top of the physical aspects of my traumatic brain injury I also had to deal with the emotional stress. One of the hardest things through this injury was my separation from sports and other things I loved. I began to seek local medical treatment.
The Ride is the story of the heinous and gruesome murder of ten year old, Jeffrey Curley, a case that is familiar to many in the Massachusetts area. The book works its way from the grisly crime to the years afterward. It focuses on the family of Jeffrey, heavily weighted on the life of Cambridge Firefighter Bob Curley, Jeffrey’s father. Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari, both from Jeffrey’s neighborhood were convicted of the murder. Within this essay I will demonstrate from The Ride the relationship between reporting and suffering that may have been brought on for the crime victims of this case, the relationship between the victim profiles and the victim family profiles, the role in which the family may have played in the
Braaaaaap! Braaaaaaap! Ricky Charmichael takes the lead! He made the pass in the air over the 80 foot triple. Something that I love to do more than anything in the world is motocross. Motocross is racing over rough ground on specially strengthened motorcycles.
“We have no money, so quit your complaining! It’s only a six mile walk!” My mom screamed at me three hours before my dentist appointment. My family doesn’t have any money to fill the car with gas, so we have to walk everywhere. But not only didn’t we have the money, but this town has no gas station, so filling it up would require us to drive 45 miles, which makes the trip even more expensive. I wish this town had more to it, then it would make my long walks around town more enjoyable, and I wouldn’t have to feel so nervous walking around.
I have come to love bicycles in the course of the past year. I am especially fond of mountain bikes, including my own. Riding it opens up a whole new world of opportunities and challenges for me. I am still fairly fresh to the whole mountain biking scene, so I push myself to become better with more experience. Riding is an outlet; it is something I can channel pent up energy through. I love the sport because it is a full body, soul, and mind experience that affects all five of the senses.
