Descriptive Essay : ' So Deceitful '

In the early 19th century in Alabama and many other states our country had a very serious racial divide. Most of the white community was deeply racist which lead to an experiment in Alabama known as “Bad Blood” to the local black people. The government was calling it the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male.

September 11, 2001 (herein referred to as 9/11) was a day in American history, which will be remembered as the most horrific attack on American soil. This attack, carried out by nineteen Islamic extremists, was associated with al-Qaeda, and involved the hijacking of four airplanes. Two of those airplanes were hijacked and flown directly into the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. The third plane’s target was the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the fourth plane was brought down in Pennsylvania where it is believed the passengers aboard fought the hijackers. This horrific day in history cost over 3,000 people their lives, and was labeled the worst attack on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II.

Some believe that the fuel fires, with temperatures below the melting point of construction steel (2750 °F), were capable of brutally damaging the steel framework of the Twin Towers, and then causing them to downfall. Forman Williams states, “Jet fuel burned for maybe 10 minutes, and the Twin Towers were still standing after 10 minutes. However, the rest of the stuff that burned afterwards was responsible for the sustained heat that eventually brought the Towers down” (Mvargic). Essentially, Williams is saying that the Twin Towers didn’t burn down right away, but the heat from the planes brought them down. Others claim that cellphones work at altitude and there is plenty of evidence that they do. A passenger on Delta Flight 1989 at the time says, “The pilot had radioed that there was suspicious activity in the cabin since one of the passengers was speaking urgently on his cellphone and ignored repeated flight attendant requests to stop using his cell phone while in flight” (Traveling on Delta Flight 1989 on 9/11). This quote explains how if the passenger was able to make or receive lengthy and/or repeated calls at traveling altitude, the passengers on the 9/11 airplanes should have been able to do so as well. At the time of the attacks, there were almost eighteen thousand individuals in the World Trade Center alone (9/11 By The Numbers). The twin towers were expected to have fifteen thousand people clock in around ten thirty am. In all, a total of thirty three thousand people were put in harm's way on that devastating day. Al-Qaeda was obsessed with producing mass casualties with their impending outbreaks. This desire routed them away from lower civilian population dense areas and were most interested in areas like the White House or the Statue of Liberty. Fahrenheit 9/11, creates many good points and provides the public with an inside look into the corruption of George Bush’s presidency and what could have possibly led to the attacks on 9/11. However, the documentary overall argument is extremely weak. It is not convincing to anyone, other than those already suspicious of Bush’s involvement in 9/11, because of the ineffective ways of argument shown throughout the film.

It has been 16 years and we have yet to hear a case where skyscrapers collapse in the same manner that the twin towers did. Insiders have reported that the Twin Towers design was constructed so that smaller floors were on top, so how could the smaller floors destroy the bigger floors below them just by fire? In his book titled 9/11: The Simple Facts: Why the Official Story Can’t Possibly Be True, Arthur Naiman states two undeniable facts. First, he makes the statement that “Nothing ever falls into the path of greatest resistance.” Within this claim, Arthur compares the twin towers to a tree. If the top of a tree were to catch fire and burn directly downward through the trunk it may seem plausible. The twin towers contained over 80,000 tons of steel, which is way denser, making it impossible for the towers to fall evenly. His second claim is that “Fires don’t suddenly destroy entire buildings evenly and completely.” He supports this claim by stating that only artificial fires would burn an entire building symmetrically. Given that natural fires leave some objects out, not everything is destroyed. There is a group of 2,500 architects and engineers, of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, that concur that the evidence found at the collapse site as well as the way in which the buildings fell suggests a controlled demolition was involved in the collapse of the buildings. The key factor that changed their minds, and mine, is the fall pattern concerning Building 7 of the World Trade Center. Building 7 was a headquarters of the C.I.A., and it was this building that fell in only 7 seconds. The same engineers and architects from Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth also concluded that how this building came down matches the fall pattern of a controlled demolition. After watching the video of the collapse of Building 7 and a video of a controlled demolition, I saw that the buildings fell in identical patterns. NIST released a report and held a press conference to try to explain Building 7’s collapse. NIST stated that the building had been damaged by office fires and that is what caused the building to collapse, though Fire Protection Engineer Scott Grainger states that “high rise buildings simply do not collapse due to fire” (Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth: Science of 9/11, 2017). When I saw the video of the building collapsing there were squibs, dust clouds, being shot out of the building in a synchronized manner that was similar to the controlled demolition video. The middle of the building was the first part of the building to begin collapse, followed by the rest of the building. This second part of the collapse would occur milliseconds behind the first, which contradicts the recreation of the building collapse NIST produced. There is no denying the events occurring on September 11, 2001 changed the world as we knew it. Over 3,000 people lost their lives because of them, and countless others were severely impacted as well. These attacks saw immediate changes to the way people traveled to, from and in America. Most importantly, these attacks were deliberate, precisely planned and executed. But by who? Now, before jumping to the automatic assumption that the 9/11 commision report is completely honest and accurate, please continue reading this essay with an open mind as I shed light on the fact that United States government was actually behind the whole thing.

Some witnesses accounted hearing explosions inside the building as they attempted to escape the building. The tragedy became the subject of controversy as some skeptics began to doubt the details reported to have transpired that day. Some people question its legitimacy, theorizing that the Bush administration devised and orchestrated the attacks to further its agenda. Filmmaker Dylan Avery discusses and promotes this prevalent conspiracy theory in his documentary, Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup. Avery argues that the government possessed foreknowledge of the attacks by comparing them to precedents of similar situations. He challenges the official explanations and provides his analyzations of evidence from the reports and media. Avery effectively appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos in his film, but his compelling argument is ultimately undermined by fallacies.

September 11th changed the lives of many Americans, irrevocably. The horrendous attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon altered the way American’s viewed their positions within the world, not to mention their lives and their safety. The attacks brought terrorism to the forefront of national attention, in every aspect. The government became immediately immersed in an effort to understand and defeat terrorism, and simultaneously, the media, with its perverse fascination with violence and profit-driven espousal to round-the-clock, up-to-the-minute coverage, demonstrated an obsession with the attacks, by broadcasting almost nothing but the latest developments in the search and rescue efforts and investigations
