Tick, Tock. It was nine o’clock and was getting ready for bed I felt like I was forgetting something. I curled up in bed and turned out the light… Tick Tock… “MY HOMEWORK!” I sprinted downstairs with my backpack flinging behind. I jumped into my hard chair in the small office that was built a year ago. I wrote so fast my hand cramped. All of a sudden the room started to shake papers flew around and I sat there still not sure what was happening. My heart stopped as my chair slowly rose up and I followed along with it. “Uhh MOM!” I screamed… no reply.” Mom? “ I said I knew she wasn’t home. Something caught my eye… WATER! But I didn’t realize the drink me sign approached on the side… I closed my eyes hoping that this all was a dream and took a sip. “OW!” Something or someone pinched me as I opened my eyes to see a small creature standing in front of me. “Hi!” The small creature said with a grin on its face. “GET AWAY FROM ME!” I screamed. I ran not knowing where I was. Hills of green surrounded me with weird shaped trees that had huts in them. I tried to find someone to help me get home. I climbed a small narrow passage that lead to something I couldn’t explain, a small hut burrowed under a small hill filled with white bunnies. “Knock Knock.” My hand hit the door hard and down came shattered… nuts? “Um Hello?” I exclaimed hoping someone could help me I rushed through the hut hoping someone was there. All around me was something unusual, the couches were filled with peanut
Traveling is one of my family’s favorite things to do. The family has visited numerous places throughout the United States, however, none are as memorable as Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many places to go and sights to see such as: Cola-cola factory, Cabbage Patch Kids Factory, Under Ground Mall, the Zoo, Atlanta Braves Stadium, Six Flags Over Georgia, Stone Mountain Park, and the Atlanta Aquarium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta. The three that we visit on every trip to Atlanta are Six Flags, Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Aquarium.
Awaking from my daze to peer out the large, sweeping windows of the tour bus. Speeding past me is the Normandy countryside located on France's northern coast. After driving for an hour, we appear to be slowing down. The tour guide, Gilles, speaks over the intercom in his accented English describing the medieval structures of the town we are approaching. From a distance it appears to be a tourist haunt. Honfleur is a beautiful town that is different from anywhere else in the world.
“Hey Matt,” my mom hollered upstairs. “We need to get downstairs right now buddy. There is a tornado warning,” said my mom cautiously. I was scrambling to get the guinea pigs out of their cage onto a blanket as fast as I could, but they kept on hiding in the back of the enormous cage. After I got them out, I grabbed some lettuce for them and sprinted downstairs. Then, after I set the guinea pigs down, my brother Drew was just laying down on the couch downstairs and doing nothing. My mom kept on yelling at Matt to come downstairs, but he wouldn’t. This is too much, I told myself. Worriness was inching up my legs right as I noticed that dad wasn’t here. Oh, no! Where is he, I thought. Then, I didn’t feel so good. Thank goodness my mom was there
The world whizzed past me in the comfort of the car, the cold blanket of air unable to reach my pale skin through closed windows and blasting heaters. The radio was quiet, the music providing ambience on top of the rumbling of the car’s engine. The last beat of the current song ended, filling the car with silence. After a few heartbeats, on came the next song, and I turned my head to look at the radio, hand outstretching to turn the dial up. As the strong, pulsing notes of the electric guitar filled my car, a smile came on to my face. It pulled me back, all those years ago, to a night I was ready to party and had hoped it would never end.
After school Katie rode the bus home and went up to her room to look for her earplugs. She could not find them everywhere she looked so just gave up after a while. A few days later a couple of the family’s belongings had gone missing. Sophie lost her puppy that could dance when you pressed it’s paw, Will had lost his bright green work gloves, and Celeste had lost her brand new necklace that said mom across it. One night when everyone was in the living room Will walked into the kitchen and heard a muffled screaming sound he ran into the living room and everyone was just normal sitting on the couch. “Hey why were you guys yelling?” Will asked. “Dad we weren’t yelling.” Katie told him. “ I just..” Will stopped. “Never mind, I guess.” Everyone just ignored it and went off to bed. In the middle of the night Celeste woke up and went downstairs to get a glass of water. When she was walking down the steps she heard a wierd sound like somebody was whispering. She stopped for a second and ran back to her room to get her phone. She flashed the light off her phone up and down the steps still hearing the voice she got nervous. When she walked down the steps she couldn’t hear them and when she walked to the top of the staircase she couldn’t either, but when she was in a particular spot in the middle of the staircase, she could hear the voices. She put her ear up to the wall very slowly and heard the noises more clearly. All of a sudden she heard “SLAM”. She took her ear off the wall and ran upstairs. She woke up Will and told him what she heard, but when he checked there was nothing. “Maybe it was just rats or something.” Will suggested. “I know what I heard there were voices!” Celeste tried to explain. Will told her that he would call an exterminator to check it out.
I lift myself up and as soon as my feet touch the floor my body gets the chills of a cold hard wood floor. I man up and walk over to my little “office desk” and turn of the alarm, there was only the silence of nature's music. I took a moment to listen to the music and sighed to myself, a content sigh. I look back at the clock and it now says 5:35 AM time to get ready. I walk over to my closet door and put on the outfit from the boutique I’ve officially named the outfit Courtney. I opened the door and made my way over to the hallway bathroom next to my room and curled my wavy hair while looking at myself in the mirror. I have red wavy hair and dark green eyes I also have a few freckles on my nose and cheeks. My face is kind of diamond shaped and my features are pretty decent. Not to sound conceited but I always have though I was pretty, not supermodel pretty but average pretty. Otherwise I try to be humble with everything that I do so I don't give off the wrong expression. Anyways back to getting ready I think to myself, I continue to curl my hair for a few more seconds, as soon as I finish I comb through my hair with a brush and then bam instant “insta-glam hair!” Pleased with my look I walk out and turn off the bathroom light before leaving the bathroom. As I walk past my room down the hallway I notice that I’m the only one up Courtney must still be asleep. I wouldn’t blame her it was a long day yesterday of shopping and searching for clothes. As I walk down the stairs into
The three of us head back to the motel. We ask if we need to drop Bella off at her house. She responds with a quick, harsh no. I have the feeling she isn’t telling us something… We race to the room and I get there first. I laugh in Justin’s face as he pulls out the couch. We don’t go to bed immediately. We stay up talking.
The sun sparkled in like a kaleidoscope of light, spinning, hazy. The grass was warm underneath my bare feet, tickling up between my toes. The breeze tossed my bleach blonde curls around, keeping the temperature at a perfect degree. It had to had been mid-seventies with a slight humidity, the kind of weather that draws a person outside to bask in the sun, to frolic in the breeze, to enjoy the nature in front of them. The sun hid behind a perfectly cloud scattered sky. The plump objects transformed into the creatures of my imagination. The lake reflected the worlds psychedelic colors, mystic and free. Just there, across the lane from my palace, dwelled a magnificent floating spiral island. A place only known to my father, little sister and I. Although I was only four, I understood its secrets. The island was magical, including everything that surrounded it. We lived in a hidden area that only the chosen could find.
I stood at the outskirts of San Jose, California. The night sky was showing with glittering stars, shining the cosmos. The wind as cold as ice with the howling sound of wolves in the background. It was almost pretty peaceful and quiet except for the sounds of nature. My friends and I were camping by a campfire sharing scary stories. Our parents were gone to refill gas and get more food.
The brisk cold air lightly touching my bare arms as I walk to the car. A long three hour car ride lays in front of me on our way to Yosemite. Crammed in the back seat with a tower of blankets in between my sister and I. I put in my headphones and try to drift off to sleep. I awoke two hours later, when my car came to a screeching halt. I looked outside to see cars going for miles, as far as my eyes could see. I look over next to me and see my little sister drowsy as she awoke from her slumber. I rolled down the window and a light breeze entered the car. The familiar scent of pine filled my lungs, and at that moment in time I knew where I was. It took only a few more hours to reach our destination for the day. The distinct smell of a new place was intriguing to me. I take in my surroundings and layed down on the soft couch and cuddled in a blanket that was as soft as silk. The warmth embraced me and I drifted off to sleep for the night.
I opened my eyes and slowly woke up. I breathed in the moist, salty air. I sat up and looked around my room. I looked at the plastic skull with carvings on it I had bought the night before. It looked so cool, but not as cool as when I bought it. As I climbed out of bed, I heard the door open in the main room. I listened through my door, as my Mom, and some other man talked about room service. Guess it was time to eat. I opened my door to a fantastic view. We were in Mexico, Ixtapa for spring break, and the whole living room was open to the elements. It was a wonderful view through the resort onto the beach. There was a small infinity pool that stretched over the balcony. It was beautiful. I walked over and sat down at the glass table. There was cinnamon bread, milk, and other sweet foods and drinks. As I ate, I thought about what was to come. I was excited for today.
“Why does college have to be so hard, I literally put all my time and effort on my assignment for English but Mrs. Darling gave me a fifty percent! Can you believe a fifty percent” said Marlin.
This painting portrays Kahlo's two different personalities: traditional and modern Kahlo. The two are holding hands and are both sitting next to one another. The traditional
She is small and sharp and angular. Her elbows hurt when they're pressed tightly against you and her small fingers dig into your sides. She rests her chin on your shoulder and it sinks into you. Her fingers are flat- but you always remember them flatter than they are. In your mind, they are a 2D part of her. Her hair looks as if someone set it aflame. It reminds you of October, of the orange, crisp leaves. While you are in no way overweight, you are definitely softer than her. Her hands are delicate, you’re always afraid you’ll crush them, so you hold her hand loosely. You can’t decide what color her eyes are. At first, they seem blue, but the next time you see her you could swear they’re green, and occasionally they look a stormy grey.
I look outside the car window and see the colorless, grey sky and white clouds fly on by. Next to me is one of my best friends, Natalie, and my dad sitting in the front seat humming to a song. “This is going to be such a fun day.” I thought with a grin across my face. As we pull up to the drop off area, you can see the enormous and neon roller coasters rolling by. People of all ages scream at the top of their lungs as they go through flips, loops and drops. “This looks super safe,” I thought in my head. My dad reminds us to be safe and to drink tons of water. He drops Natalie and me off, quickly getting to the gate with a big sign reading, “Six Flags Magic Mountain”.
