Introduction
The globalization of the world has given rise to the era of travelling. The world has come closer than ever before. Knowledge about and communication to other parts of the world has increased people’s desire and need to travel (Harrill, 2005). Education, employment and better standards of living are the major causes of increased travelling. Interestingly, according to 2014 statistics global tourism arrivals increased to 1,087 million (Anonymous, 2014). This rapid increase in tourism requires a system for enhancing tourism. To assist tourism companies and attractions points in improving their services, many models and strategies have been developed. Destination Management has acquired importance where tourism is concerned (Harrill, 2005).
Destination is a physical area within a boundary defined by the market where a person spends an overnight or more. It provides assistance to the visiting individual, services, tourist attractions and other resources (Harrill, 2005). Destination Management provides assistance through strategies that seek to fulfil the growth needs of tourism destinations. Strategies are developed for guiding tourism destinations to emerge into macro-level from macro-level (Harrill, 2005).
