The Australian Customs and Border Protection team has a control framework to address detained goods during their transfer, release or destruction. This framework includes a system called The Detained Goods Management System (DGMS), a system introduced in April 2006. The DGMS was initially seen as a temporary measure, which had been operating for several years. The Australian Customs and Border Protection advised that the system was unstable in 2008, however, the issue was later resolved, and future instability is considered unlikely due to annual monitoring.
