Detective work is challenging. A detective is an individual who investigates and solves crimes. Crime solving is dirty work involving many unsanitary and questionable situations. These types of situations would put someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder into some tough situations when it comes to germs, crowds, and items being symmetric. This anonymous individual happens to have problems with all of these items. Obsessive-compulsive disorder makes for some troubling times for the individual as well as quite comedic situations. According to the National Institute of Mental Health obsessive-compulsive disorder is a common, chronic and long lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over. The detective individual of concern has obsessions with germs and having items symmetrical or in a perfect order. Not many crime scenes are sanitary, nor are they perfectly symmetric or in order. Because of this individual’s obsessions with germs it results in compulsions of excessive cleaning and hand washing, ordering, and rearranging items in a particular way. …show more content…

According to the American Psychological Association psychologists help aid people in learning how to cope more effectively with life situations and mental health disorders. There are many different models of psychology, which affect the view of the disorder and treatment of the disorder. Just like there are many different styles to solving crime, there are different styles of psychology. The different models of psychology are biological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, and lastly socio-cultural.
