This officer has had contact via face to face and phone with the mother, Ms. Evelyn Edwards. Discussions have taken place with her regarding Marquel’s Comprehensive Re-Entry Case Plan. She has participated in a video conference with Marquel since his commitment. She is aware of his placement in the Virginia Beach CPP Program. She supports this claim by first explaining how some prisoners "have families eagerly awaiting them—families who are willing to let their newly release relative sleep on the couch, floor, or extra bed indefinitely. Most however, desperately need to find a place to live—if not immediately, at least soon," which leaves them homeless right

Pamela, as a victim of domestic violence, felt she was and was not treated properly by the system. Pamela, feels like the system treated her properly for the actual trial part of her case, but does not feel like she was treat fairly in other areas. Such as safety and comfort, during and after the trial was over. There were times when she was told they would notify her of his release or of any court hearings. She was not always notified. She feared for her life for weeks, even though her ex-husband was supposed to still be in jail. She was unaware of any activities he was allowed in jail. The jail staff did not believe her, nobody believed her, at first. Pamela’s ex-husband was getting out of jail for work-release in the mornings and was calling her. She says she received death threat telephone calls from him for almost two weeks straight because she had made him sit in jail for six months. When she reported it, the jail staff and corrections officers denied he had any way to contact her. She was scared and frustrated, but did not have a way to pay the $25 charge to change her
I had the opportunity to interview Kimberly Bezer of Devereux Community Base Care. Kimberly has an extensive job title which is as followed: Dependency Case Manager/Intake/Out of County Supervisor. Devereux Community Base Care is a non-profit agency that is contracted by the State of Florida’s Child Protective Agency, providing services to children and families. I would describe Kimberly as a very “animated” person, which in my opinion after being employed in the human services field as a case manager for approximately six years, being energetic is necessary to remain your sanity.

Based on that she notices the CCA’s stocks are going sky high. Also taking to their advantage of all those prisoners small companies get the prisoners to do their labor work or them. When they use prisoners they pay way below
Megan Comfort focuses on how secondary prisonization affects a lot of women who visits an inmate. Comfort says how women experience a lot of disadvantages, such as: restricted rights, limited resources,
While most expectant mothers are planning for baby showers, shopping for maternity clothes and preparing the baby’s nursery, the incarcerated mother-to-be has to remain in a constant state of alertness and preparedness for situations that can put her and her unborn baby at risk, in an environment that is both intimidating and routinely violent. (Hutchinson et. al., 2008)
Male prisoners also continue to make up the majority of the prison population. However, women prisoner rates have been on the rise and have exceeded that of male growth rates since 1995. In fact, due to the increase of the women prison population, various issues have arisen which require women to be treated differently from men. Such issues correctional facility’s face because of this increase include program delivery, housing conditions, medical care, staffing, and security (American Corrections, 2016). These problems are in part due to the different social and economic differences women are faced with in prison and while preparing for their release back to society.
In handling a situation like this, the prison warden should focus on the confidential nature of the matter. The challenge in communication is getting the recipient to understand the message in a way very parallel to what is intended (Stojkovic et al., 2008). Understanding the mechanics that inspire perception is vital to effective communication. Because and individuals logic and understanding of a message is based on past experiences, which may differ from sender of message, the interpretations may be different. The prison warden should relay the messages to the individuals who have the most authority within the organization first. This way he can portray to them how to extend the message down to subordinates and in the exact form.
In the US, the number of incarcerated people in the prison systems cumulatively will form the fourth largest city in the US by population. This serves to underline the importance of addressing the issues that affect the prisoners and the other employees of these correctional services. The first issue that is affecting the success of the correctional services provided by the prison services is the congestion in the prisons. Most of the prisons in the United States were built a long time ago and with the increased population of imprisoned offenders, their capacity to handle prisoners has been greatly overstretched. An example of overstretched prison facilities is in the state of California where the state has been forced to transfer its prisoners
Since 1985, the Jail Populations have nearly tripled with the top 3 States that exceed incarceration rates being Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. Unfortunately, some jails face overcrowding everyday, and are forced to resort to denying prisoners or finding alternative means to reduce the number of prisoners. It is reported that most of the overcrowding occurs in urban jails (e.g. The Tombs in NYC, the Cook County Jail in Chicago, the Los Angeles County Jail and the Old District of Columbia Jail) (Siegel & Bartillo, 2014).
