According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the standard detox definition is "1. detoxification from an intoxicating or addictive substance, a detox clinic / 2. a detox program or facility spent one week in detox." If that seems rather confusing and/or simplistic, you would indeed be correct in your assessment. Detox is, in fact, a very complex process that is often necessary to start addiction sufferers on the road to recovery from the insidious disease of drug/alcohol addiction.
