This paper will present the steps of developing an online professional development course titled, Individualized Learning with a Personal Learning Network. Designing any course, including an online course, involves several steps and issues that need to be considered and addressed. This paper will present a course overview that states the purpose of the course, a weekly overview, and learning objectives. Design and learner issues will also be addressed. The plans for student-content, student-student, and student-instructor will also be stated. Assessment techniques will additionally be discussed.
A Personal Learning Network (PLN) is a selection of tools to find resources, techniques, and research that is of interest to an individual. A Personal Learning Network also assists individuals connect with others with similar interests and is a growing trend in education. The purpose of the course, Individualized Learning with a Personal Learning Network, is two-fold. First, learners will learn the concept of a PLN. Next, learners will learn uncover some of the resources to start and grow their own network. Upon completed of the course, students will be able to:
1. Define the concept of a personal learning network.
2. List at least 5 different tools available for personal learning networks.
3. Evaluate different tools to determine if the tool is appropriate for the learner to implement in their personal learning network.
4. Create a digital repository for classroom resource.
Professional development is the development of new or existing skills, knowledge and aptitudes to improve one’s marketablilty, portability, performance and self worth (McKellar, 1996). This paper outlines my top three professional goals, resources required for achieving these goals, and a resource constrained schedule. The strategic formulation of my goals, required resources and schedule coalesce to form my Professional Development Plan (PDP). The first goal is a short term goal required for financing the second goal which is my medium term goal. The final goal is a long term goal that is loosely coupled with my second goal.

Investigate learning management software packages that are available through application service providers. Using the World Wide Web, identify at least two potential sources of such software. What are the key functions, requirements, pros and cons?
My organization uses an LMS to help teachers and students in the teaching and learning process. Teachers have the possibility not only to create lesson plans and quizzes but also to communicate with each other and with students and parents. Also, it can create a networking connection. “The functionality available in today’s learning management systems can help teachers create lessons and resources that engage their students, and deliver personalized learning” (Kilfoyle, 2015).
Planning and Organizing: Claudia continues to meet with her employees that are not meeting the performance goals, on a bi-weekly basis to review and discuss their previous week work performance. She formulates a detailed calendar of all assigned tasks for her unit, including any contingencies for necessary changes.
Most individuals are finding the online world flexible and convenient, and accurately matching their objectives and busy kind of lives. Online learning capabilities have proliferated and have ensured vital knowledge and skills for the learners. Students can easily locate various learning programs online, and these are always accessible and convenient for any interested party in the online fraternity. However, there are few challenges that are associated with the online world, but the educators have provided succinct methods that can be used by learners to develop knowledge and skills that are associated with the learning platform.
In any career it is important to continue to advance your skills and knowledge even after you’ve already got the job. Professional development comes in many forms, including video training modules. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) uploaded their professional development modules onto www.youtube.com. These videos serve to demonstrate poor ethical choices in a fun way to Texas teachers, current and aspiring. These video training modules often referred to as “podcasts” have many advantages over other types of professional development. Because they are online, they are easily accessible from nearly anywhere; podcasts can be viewed on smart phones, tablets, and laptops of course. Any device with access to the internet can be used to watch

The Programming Mechanics and Mindset course adopts PeerWise as a part of its development to engaging students who are learning about programming and to help instructors track student progress outside the classroom. However, there are some drawbacks in this professional development initiative, which are addressed in the Instructional Objectives, Instructional Strategies, and Assessment of Instruction. These hinder student achievement. Ultimately, the professional development initiative is completely unsuccessful.
One would be hard pressed to find a school district that does not think the most important idea is student learning. How schools go about accomplishing this daunting task can vary greatly from district to district. While some schools promote new ideas such as reflective thinking and leadership development, others are simply stuck in the tradition of teaching students the same now as they did 20 years ago. One of the theories in education that is gaining in popularity is that of developing Professional Learning Communities, or PLCs. I will discuss the components of an idealistic learning community, why it is important, and how to implement this into a school district.
The author has designed the personal learning plan around the diagnosis of his learning needs, statement of specific learning objectives, learning resources and strategies, evidence of accomplishment, how the evidence will be validated, and how the learning will be evaluated. I will concentrate on the five disciplines: Systems Thinking, Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Shared Visions, and Team Learning introduced by Peter M. Senge. This will allow me to expand my leadership abilities at my current job as well as jobs that I may hold in the future. What distinguishes leaders is the clarity and persuasiveness of their ideas, the depth of their commitment, and the extent of their openness to continually learning

It also includes the delivery of content via Internet, intranet/extranet (LAN/WAN), audio- and videotape, satellite broadcast, podcast, interactive TV, CD-ROM, and more. E-learning programs are endowed with a training system, which employees can access, where face-to-face instruction is not possible because the very nature is that it is borderless and potentially global in scope. With e-learning methods, training can take place on-demand, and trainees can be given greater control over their learning than ever before (Rosenberg 2001). This increased control has the potential to improve training effectiveness. E-learning courses add value to traditional learning modes by offering self-paced or live, instructed training classes. Specifically, self-paced courses can be taken at the employee's leisure and are good for self-motivated persons. Typically these types of courses can be taken at convenience of the busy workers as well as for globally dispersed employees. Hence workplace training needs to be broadened and customized (Marc J. Rosenberg & Steven Foreman 2010). Live e-learning is capable of instant updating, storage/retrieval, distribution and sharing of instruction and information. Soft skills such as management, leadership, or team building can be tackled in this environment. However, this type of training works best if the class size is limited to 25
