Decked out for the holidays and open to the public, Diablo Valley Lines has multiple elevated platforms offering breathtaking views of the 1,900 square foot intricate display. This is one of the largest HO scale model railroads in the United States with 4,300 feet of hand-laid track. Be prepared for some inclement weather; the entire exhibit routinely switches from day to night and an actual rain and thunderstorm is known to blow in! Fans of Thomas and Friends will be thrilled to see their favorite blue tank engine and his buddies featured on the track as well as standard gauge, narrow gauge and interurban freight and trolley lines flowing through mountainous terrain and bustling towns.

Prior to 1821, the land beyond Missouri was an uncharted region known only to buffalo and displaced Native Americans. When Mexicans won independence from Spain in 1821, they encouraged trade with the United States via New Mexico. Lack of water and hostile Native Americans made the trip dangerous, but William Becknell, “Father of the Santa Fe Trail,” left Missouri that year to arrive in Santa Fe a month-and-a-half later. After a large profit, Becknell continued to make trips, blazing the path that became known as the Santa Fe Trail. Soon, traders, visitors, and the military would regularly travel the route.
Majority of mice in New Mexico’s Valley of Fire have dark color. The population increase of dark-colored mice in Valley of Fire happened because of natural selection. Mice that do not suit the environment, which are light-colored mice, cannot survive in Valley of Fire because they are easily noticed on dark soil by the predators. On the other hand, dark-colored mice can hide easily on dark soil, which made them survive. Whereas the mice near the desert are mutated, those near the lava are not mutated. Each mouse from different lava found to have a different gene. Whereas the mice near the desert’s color change was from a random mutation, that of the mice near the lavas was not random. Because, each dark-colored mouse from two different lavas
Today, most people in the United States rely on cars, or even planes to deliver our purchased merchandise, expecting them in a day or a week at the latest. It seems like second nature to take a trip to the nearest store to acquire the essentials, such as food and water, and even purchase luxury goods without a second thought. Even so, most of us do not consider how challenging it must have been for the first inhabitants of our land to receive goods, especially if they wished to receive it quickly. While wagons and dirt trails seem outdated and sluggish today, our modern system of transporting goods began here, with oxen lugging the wooden vehicles hundreds of miles. The settlers would travel across countries, continents, or even oceans to obtain

Yosemite Valley is full of stunning and breathtaking sights. However, millions of years of geologic changes have occurred to make Yosemite Valley what it is today. Even from the initial formation of California, Yosemite has been evolving. Each part of the geologic history of Yosemite plays a very significant role, because even if one small thing did not occur, then the Yosemite that we know today would not be familiar to us.

Going further, you will go over a few small hills that might be hard for little kids to overcome. Later you will come across a short white tunnel and over it is a now unused train track. There is a way to go up there, and you have to go into the bushes on your right and then there should be a small hill or in other words, a small inclination, this will then lead you to the train tracks, I’ve been up there, yet, I wouldn 't know where these lead to in either direction for I’ve never gone far enough for me to say that I know definitely where it goes.
Previously, the geology of Death Valley National Park and Yosemite National Park in the Basin and Range Province and Sierra Nevada Range respectfully were discussed. West of Death Valley, is the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in the Sierra Nevada Range in California. The Sequoia National Park is also 629 square miles and includes 403,482 acres while Kings Canyon is 722 square miles with 461,901 acres(739). Interestingly enough, in Spanish Sierra Nevada means “snow-covered mountain” although many people think that it doesn’t snow in California. Since the Yosemite National Park, Sequoia, and Kings National Park are a part of the Sierra Nevada Range, there will be similarities and differences in their geology.
Death Valley has a unique history dating back to the last Ice Age, once covered by Ice, this place has had many occupancy, while towns and mining camps have come and gone, but it unique beauty is still here, with the caves that contain rare fish, to the Bad-water Basin in the lowest place in North America.
Today I look back at my home. Or to put it correctly, what used to be my home. The Americans and their hired Chinese and Irish men are, as we speak, running the tracks down that divide our land. Not theirs, but our land. These people are laying down tracks separating our lives as we speak. Our entire way of operating will be destroyed. And it doesn’t seem like it only affected their side, but our American side as well. They can now possibly be viewed as a greedy nation for the ill-treatment of all those immigrants. It seems the idea of The Transcontinental Railroad has more downs that ups; injuring it workers, taking down Native American Homes, and showing how
The Rio Grande Valley is a small place at the bottom of Texas, but it might be one of my favorite places. The reasons that the valley is my favorite place is because of my family, friends, and the culture.
railroad tracks. The metal wheels of the cars roll on a flat metal strip, about 4 to 6 inches across.
Never before have I seen a museum as grand as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. From its architecture to its massive art collection, The Met has a little bit of everything and one is sure to find something that captures his or her interest. Considering that The Met is the United States' largest art museum, it is easy to get lost within its many corridors and wings. My visit to The Met took place during the last week of July. Despite the almost unbearable heat and humidity that hung in the air, visiting museums under these climate conditions is a welcome respite from a suffocating, yet bright summer afternoon.
