Mary Haydock, now formally known as Mary Reibey was born on the 12th May 1777 (source 1) and was raised by her grandmother after both her parents died when Mary was of a young age. Mary was convicted of horse stealing at the age of 13 and was to be sent to Australia for seven years (source 1). Being sent away from her family and in particular her grandmother, meant that Mary was alone and isolated from the people that she would have felt most comfortable around. This lack of belongingness may have caused Mary Reibey depression which was common for convicts of such a young age.

Eva married the love of her life Bonifacio Lopez on September 10th 1955 in Mission Texas. They had 8 children together, 6 boys and 2 girls. Leisure at the turn of the twentieth century was a new found type of freedom and entertainment, not only for the children, but for the entire family. It was a way for numerous families to spend quality time together but in a more modern and convenient way. Entertainment before the twentieth century consisted of household entertainment, such as board games, and “backyard games” like tennis, and football amongst others. When compared to leisure in the twentieth century, many of these activities were seen as “outdated”, as more and more people started to adopt the new ways of entertainment.
