“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference” (Churchill). People come across conflict everyday of their life, but handling it in a calm and positive manner can make the situation better. Anne Frank, in The Diary of a Young Girl; Anne Frank, was able to see hopeful opportunity even in every difficult situation. Winston Churchill remained confident about winning the war against Hitler and his troops, leading to a triumphant victory. Having a positive attitude in tough situations can highly influence our feelings and be beneficial to our health.
Conflict plagues schools, stores and homes and can really affect people at any given moment. Most conflict can be controlled and mediated so it doesn’t spiral out of control, but what if a situation can’t be controlled and causes major damage to our lives? In Anne

He was dedicated and took expert measures to fight for the victory. He announced,” I take up my task in buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. I feel entitled at this juncture, at this time, to claim the aid of all and to say, ‘Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength’” (Churchill). This quote shows how he was hopeful and positive about everything happening and made sure the whole country was united and in agreement so they can come together as one to defeat the enemy. He showed leadership and wanted support so he was able to go into this dreadful war with hope. When Churchill talked how he was sure that they could win it showed everyone else that they would be ok. So having a positive attitude really has its advantages, making people around you have hope and keeping things under control. Anne Frank was happy about what little she had. Churchill showed confidence, giving confidence to his troops and people. Staying optimistic helps people stay calm and collected and let's people make collective
The play of “The diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, it tells a story and the life of Anne Frank and what it was like for her and her family during the Holocaust. The authors Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett focused more on the event of the story. They also focused on how life was after they got caught and had to be taken to concentration camps. According to Dictionary.com, the definition of optimism is “A disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome.” Looking on the more favorable side can help in the most difficult times. “A positive attitude brings strength, energy, motivation, and initiative” (Quotes Guru). Having a positive attitude is the best response to conflict, especially in the time of war. For example, in the stories Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl and Dear Miss Breed: True Stories of the Japanese American Incarceration During World War II and a Librarian Who Made a Difference, both Anne Frank and Miss Breed had a positive attitude for such a horrible situation. In the story Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl Anne tells us, the audience, how her family dealt with the situation that they were in. In Dear Miss Breed: True Stories of the Japanese American Incarceration During World War II and a Librarian Who Made a Difference showed what situations the Japanese Americans had to go through and how horrible their living habits were.
It is very important to stay positive for many different reasons, one of these reasons being that, it could help reassure the other person by giving them hope. For example in, 7 Tips for Resolving Conflicts Quickly and Peacefully, they say, “You could say, ‘You’re absolutely right, it is my fault and here is what I’ll do to fix it.’ Even if you’re NOT wrong, at least give them the benefit of the doubt” (Hopson). This would make the other person feel better and make them think that the argument may come to a close soon. In Deer Mrs. Breed the author says,“In spite of all the difficulties, Louise's positive and patriotic spirit rings true in these final words of her letter: ‘If American soldiers can endure hardships so can we!’ “(Baroletti 413) showing how positive and happy they are despite their situations. The short story also says, “One of the most beautiful scenery was when crossing a bridge which was right above the Colorado River. It is indeed, a beautiful river.” (Baroletti 412), even though they were being drove to an internment camp in the middle of the desert, they still found the beauty in things around them. Staying positive is a key factor in solving
People have been through physical abuse, hardships, and hiding away from others, but they always went through it will a possible positive attitude with the help from family or from friends. The children from the Japanese internment camps to the children and their parents who were hiding, and finally to the children who were sent to concentration camp because they were jewish.
In the play called, “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the Van Daan’s son, Peter, cuts off the Star of David on his shirt. Shorty after, Anne begins to cut her star off as well. Once her star was off, Anne says, “It’s funny, I can’t throw mine away. I don’t know why” (Goodrich 709). Peter doesn’t like Anne’s decision, he thinks that she’s out of her mind, so he begins to question it. Peter reacts to this by saying, “You can’t throw . . . ? Something they branded you with . . . ? That they made you wear so they could spit on you?” (Goodrich 709). From his point of view, Peter thinks that the right thing to do is to burn it, after the way they’ve been treated by the Nazis. He sees the star as a symbol of embarrassment
“‘...”positive thinking” is also a soft and fluffy term that is easy to dismiss...it carries the same weight as words like “work ethic” or “persistence”’(Clear). Positive thinking can help you through many tough situations. As victims of the Holocaust, both Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl displayed positive attitudes during their hardships.People can best respond to conflict by staying positive and seeing the brighter part in situations.
The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert hackett. I am doing topic B.Mr.Frank was a great leader his decisions were really good especially about the thief like here.”(Mr.Frank getting a flashlight) I'm going down”. He was brave on how he went down to check to see if the thief was still there and the moment when they got caught he said something amazing right here. For the past two years we lived in fear now we can live in hope.”he was brave all through the play. You need to be brave if you are going to be leader.he made some good decisions like when the just got a cake the went crazy and he calmed them down like here.”Do you see what a piece of cake does to us?It goes to our heads.” He knew how to deal with all of these situations
Having a positive outlook during a conflict is an important way to respond. Staying positive will make the situation much better than it actually turns out to be. Anne Frank and Miss Breed are great examples of how to stay positive during tough times. You must focus on cooperation instead of control and aim to set limits with respect, kindness, and firmness in mind.
For example, in “Soul Surfer” Betthany didn’t have a positive attitude in the beginning, but then learned to have a positive attitude. I used this example because it shows that if you don’t have a positive attitude it is hard to overcome adversity. I also used this example because it shows that you can’t be selfish and think about yourself before your family. You should also have a positive attitude because in a “Young Tinkerer builds a Windmill Electrifying a Nation” William had a positive attitude which led him to build windmills to help people out. I used this example because it shows that if you have a positive attitude you can do great things. I also used this example because in the story he didn’t just want to build windmills for his family but for his nation too. In short, if you have a positive attitude you can not only overcome your own adversity but your family's or your nations
Having a positive attitude is better than a negative attitude. Sophie Scholl thought that a negative attitude would prevent her from doing her work, but “One day, she stopped raising her hand to be called upon. Her silence frustrated her teachers. The
This story places place in Germany near Amsterdam, Netherlands, the Anne Frank moved there with her family at the age of four-and-a-half when the Nazi gained control over Germany. Anne Frank was a young girl who was always loved by the boys of her school, but inside she felt like nobody understood her. Anne was always wild and she wanted to be free in life. She went into hiding in July 1942, then the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel also went into hiding in some hidden rooms behind a bookcase in the building where Mr. Frank, Anne’s father worked shortly after the Franks did. In August 1944, Anne kept a diary she had received as a birthday present, and wrote in it regularly. While in the hidden room where the Franks, Van Daans, and Mr.Dussel were living, they fought all the time and Anne felt a long distance with her mother because she thinks her mother doesn't understand her.
The Diary of Anne Frank, is the actual diary of a Jewish girl in world war two. Anne’s story has touched hearts and changed lives, telling the tale of war from the perspective of a innocent child at the first stages of her teens. Not all, but many have read this book as an assignment of some sort, only to come out with information that makes the heart truly heavy. The Diary of Anne Frank illustrates the effects of war in a brutally honest way, especially to the minds of developing humans such as teens.
I am guided by Winston Churchill’s wise words, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist see the opportunity in every difficulty.” Winston Churchill was the prime minister of Britain during World War II and from the second Churchill was sworn into office he faced many adversities, such as leading England which was on the verge of defeat. However, he would not have accomplished any of these feats unless he had used optimism. Optimism has the power to improve even the worst situations; it is the light at the end of the tunnel that will guide you through your troubles. Last summer I learned the importance of optimism when I went on a very physically demanding kayaking trip in Lake Superior.
Optimism is perhaps the most important quality that a person can possess, without optimism there would be no reason to work for a better life or point in fighting against evil and oppression. In times of adversity it is hope and optimism that leads people to see the light and the end of the tunnel and guides them towards better times. A true optimist believes that the opportunity for growth lies in trials and tribulations. Winston Churchill — Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War two who led the country during some of its darkest hours — captures this idea perfectly when he said “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist see the opportunity in every difficulty (Churchill).” It is evident that throughout history
